Hey y'all, I have another themed request for all you smut experts. I'm looking for hardcore features that are either about porn, or involve references to it being a porn movie in a self-conscious way (like in Hung Wankenstein). Off the top of my head, I remember Porn Valley was about the porn industry, and then there's The Pornographer from 1980. Seems like there would be a lot of other ones. Any suggestions?
Fade to Black looks perfect - and there's a sequel. Sweet. Great Sexpectations doesn't look like a feature - maybe I have the wrong one - all I can find is the Zero Tolerance movie. Thanks for the suggestions - more please!
Though it's likely no longer available (except through collectors) due to the topic/subject matter, "TRACY'S BIG TRICK" stars Tom Byron and Jacqueline Lorians as a character based directly on Tracy Lords. This production was shot-on-video approximately one year after the scandal came to light. - Zen Edited by - Zen Master 2007 on 4/18/2009 2:44:14 AM
The very best movie ever about a porn movie was Exposed, which unfortunately is only available on VHS and probably extremely hard to find.Something more recent is James Avalon's Shrink Wrapped, this made me a huge fan of both James Avalon and Alexa Rae.Another out print and Cecil Howard's swan song,a shot on video at that, very well done though and Eric Edwards acting was outstanding throughout was The Last X-Rated Movie.
Comeback Christy Canyon must decide whether she wants to return to making hardcore movies. Happily for all concerned, she says, "Yes." __________________________________________________________
"There can never be too many beautiful women Hypnotized for our pleasure."
Wow!!!!Skin Flicks completely slipped my mind, there's even an entire thread dedicated to this Damiano very underrated classic. The more you read about the Adult Film Industry the more you appreciate this film. What makes this film so great is the outstanding acting performance on everyone's part.
The Great Sexpectations I was referring to is a 1984 feature by the late Henri Pachard. There's also a Nikki Dial film called Hardcore that would fit the bill.
Man, this has been a fruitful thread so far - thank you to everyone. Sucks that Raw Talent is cut - I guess I will try to find it on VHS (I have kept my vcr player exactly for situations such as this!). That's one thing I get worried about with the older titles - trying to figure out if I'm getting a cut version, and then debating with myself whether a cut version is better than no version at all (I'm currently debating this about Waterpower...) Keep hitting me up with titles that come to mind - I can't wait to watch all of these.
That pisses me off. I was thinking today, how is it that we end up with movies being transferred to dvd but with pieces missing? I can think of a bunch of movies off the top of my head that you have to really work hard to find an uncut copy - even classics that were available uncut on vhs. Why is this?

If you mean the Alpha France cut of Waterpower, I don't think the cuts are that significant, and the image quality is so much better than the ABA version. You could get both versions if you want, but the only significant cut in the Alpha France version, imo, is a watersports (pissing) scene. There are other cuts floating around on VHS but they are very rare.
Oh god no! Some of the best dialogue (in the "nurse" scene) has been clipped. I couldn't care less about the pissing, but I'll never get rid of my VHL copy, if only for those few lines. BTW, the Alpha France cut runs 66 min. The VHL cut runs 84 min. Although Shaun has said many times that the long cut used outtakes, I kinda prefer it.
if you can deal with the "alt" style (girls with tattoos, funky editing, punk rock soundtrack) then a lot of Joanna Angel's features break "the fourth wall" and do the self-referential thing for example in [ invalid url ] Joanna plays herself in a humorous manner as a famous pornstar. Chapel Waste is a girl who wants to be just as great a pornstar as Joanna. the rest of the movie, Joanna shows Chapel the ropes, but then Chapel gets so good at it she starts competing with Joanna, leading Joanna to realize she has created a... Porny Monster
All sounds great - and I have no problems with tattoos (not sure why anybody does - as long as it's not something stupid like a giant Daffy Duck on her stomach or something). Thanks for the Waterpower info - much needed, as I have been waiting to see that film for I don't know how long. Off to add these to my list...
In response to john lyons: Thanks, yeah I found it quite funny and different to a lot of the porn movies of that time. The woman who plays Jenna's boss is definetly a character inspired by a John Waters film.
I love John Waters - I will have to check this out. I mean, I'm checking them all out of course... Just ordered my first batch of these suggestions - keep throwing suggestions my way if they come to mind!
How about these two: Raw: The Rise and Fall of a Porn Star in which the male lead is slowly drawn into the world of porn movies....a pretty good twist on the theme. Not Another Porn Movie...pretty damn funny...Joanna Angel is directing a porn movie - but one trouble after the next keeps getting in the way of her completing it.
Wicked's new movie Dirty Minds is about porn - it's about a woman who gets upset when she finds her dude's stash. I'm guessing she learns to love it...
The best feature film about porn that I've seen isn't a porno. "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" is funny and touching. Katie Morgan is great in a supporting role. I wish she would revive her character Stacey in a porn sequel/remake. Stacey moves from Pittsburgh to LA after Zack and Miri decided not to make a second porno.
^I remember seeing Boogie Nights in theater in 1997 in Hollywood,California and I loved it.Now what I would like to see is someone come out with a film like Boogie Nights and make about the East Coast this time. The New York era like from the early 70's until like about 1985 where the actors had to decide whether they wanted to move out West or do what little porn was being shot in New York City and find a new occupation.
^ That would be pretty badass. Organized crime, the seedy streets of NYC. I'm betting someone is gonna come on here saying it's already been done (I hope so anyway).
Content is not a feature, but it might fit the "about porn" part. In some movie I can't name a guy on a couch wishes himself into the video. Some actress from the video appears on his couch, fucks his wife, and wishes herself back into porn.
I recently watched XOXO Joanna Angel for the second time. It's basically a comp with a framing story and one new scene. The frame is the DVD release party for Joanna's new flick. The DVD ends with Joanna blowing a bunch of guys and one girl after all the 'comp' scenes have been viewed. It's an amazing DVD, even though it's really a comp– not a feature.

Jaked asked about a 1970 feature available on an After Hours disc called Hard Luck Pal and it sounds like an interesting early take on porn filmmaking.
