(Did that say 17? Must be a typo. Shh.) It seems so primitive that I can't believe it was only 20 years ago. The director seems to have kicked things off with, "Camera! Action! Hey, did I forget something?" Damn, sometimes you can't see shit. Annie introduces one scene by saying there's a special thing she likes to do: two guys at once. Goodness! "You can do it one in your pussy and one in your mouth, or you can do it this other way, and that's one in your pussy and one in your ass. I call it double fucking." It's so hard for me to remember the timeline on things like this sometimes. Was a DP so very rare back then that it had to be described to the audience? Did we not have the term "double penetration" yet? Her speech seems so quaint. It's a strange thing, to look back on this movie fondly. It's clearly not that good. I don't really love Annie herself. Man, that theater must have been a squalid, vile hellhole, too. But the screen was twice the size of the ones in multiplexes today, and I guess I can will myself to be charmed by the dated outfits, and the Vince Guaraldi-like jazz score. Plus poorly delivered dialogue (when she trips over her lines, fuck it, they just keep going) like: "There's so much to do in New York -- shopping, visiting museums, going to the theater -- but come to think of it, I don't do any of those things when I'm in New York.
