Usman32 Member 403 Posts 12/22	Posted - Jun 21 2023 : 1:22PM Just wondering what are your thoughts on porn down the years especially before the HD/internet era to now assuming that everyone watched porn during that time. I for one didn't really and i think my comments would be very retrospective with a outside looking in approach than those who actually lived and enjoyed watching during them periods. Is there any instances where porn now is better than it was before, worse or if it's just comparing apples and oranges. Any good or bad points of the porn scenes in both eras, more specifically from the late 90's going to the early 10's where i kind of started to watch. From my observation of watching a few Tina Cheri scenes, i kind of noticed a few things, and not sure if it was a trend in them days, or just the scenes i watched, but i felt alot of her scenes was short in length (like less than 10 minutes, or 20 minutes at a push if we lucky, alot of background music with not alot of dialogue and moaning. For me personally, i like lengthy scenes 30 minutes plus is great, even if some of it is just buildup/foreplay and i want to hear the moans and grunts across the scenes. Some music is fine like at the start but not throughout. Maybe people enjoyed them stuff during that time and had different tastes and attitudes and thought multiple short scenes on a dvd would be great, than a few lengthy ones. Discuss [Link]

Plots, locations, different looks and feels, have all gone out the window. In the 1970s you had camera operators and cast shooting on a street on the downlow with all the heavy equipment. Now it is hard to find a production that shoots any connecting footage. [Link]

Click to expand good point about the connecting footage. it is much easier and cheaper to do street shots \ public location set up shots today with hd hand held cameras and all the advanced technology. so i think it comes down to a matter of directors just being lazy and uncreative. that really is the main problem with today's porn just a complete lack of how to shoot a movie and laziness on young as in under 40 people shooting porn. There are some really and otherwise appealing girls I am rediscovering. There was a time, from the early 2000s to probably around 2013, where the internet wasn't nearly as ubiquitous as it is now. As a result, I think, there were a lot more legitimate amateur sites featuring girls who were one- or very-few-and-dones, girls who were naive enough to believe that they could do a video that would only be seen by some millionaire hermit in Australia -- or at least they could believe (sometimes erroneously) that no one they knew would ever find out. The unfortunate GirlsDoPorn saga (including the hobby of doxxing the girls) is one example, but, back in the day, Amateur Allure regularly featured such women instead of girls who've been in the industry for a year by the time the do an AA shoot. I think the supply of such women in "regular porn" has diminished, along with the ability to believe that the "amateurs" we're now seeing are "amateurs." Before, we could suspend disbelief, at least until GDP365 showed up in a video going airtight and holding another dick in each hand. Now, with OnlyFans and the like, and cam girls, as well as the ubiquity of tattoos, it's harder to buy into the at-least-somewhat-innocent or "amateur" narratives. The few remaining indie producers are always looking for the next hook or gimmick to sustain long careers. The sets now are usually McMansions, regardless of the financial status of the characters. Hugely expensive poorly built crap that will fall probably fall down in ten years is the standard backdrop. [Link]

My all-time favorite series is Heatwave's Titty Mania, which was released between the late 90s and mid 00s, and had the typical "porn music" playing throught every scene. I absolutely loved it. I also like the Elegant Angel formula of starting a scene with a strip tease set to music, and then just having the ambient sound during the scene, but the moaning/talking/etc. does nothing for me. Click to expand I think I tend to agree, but it's kind of ironic, given that this thread is a then vs. now -- between the 70s and late 90s, there was much, much more acting in porn than today, though admittedly, after the mid 80s, that acting tend to be more of a cheesy, over-the-top self-parody. That said, there are a few performers who can really add value with their acting -- Syren De Mer and Sofie Marie would be sort of middle of the road, for my taste, except that their acting, at least in the kinds of scenarios they are typically cast, is so believable and so hot. Today when I checked I saw that Team Skeet had 28 new scenes listed (and by new, I mean they were listed as having a 2023 release year). Out of those 28 scenes 25 of them were listed under their freeusefantasy.com studio. 25! Does the porn world need 25 new free-use scenes, let alone from just one studio?
