Filesonic is basically gone, Megaupload is gone, Rapidshare is basically gone, Fileserve is gone.
The feds will go after the big torrent sites very quickly.
The internet illegal downloading world is in a state of flux.
All of the porn sharing forums lived and died by the file hosting sites, and now most all of the big ones are useless.
This is a STRUCTURAL change.
It's also the greatest thing to happen to the porn industry since MILFS.
Millions of horny guys have no access to the latest and dirtiest porn.
Grainy, old scenes on tube sites grow stale quickly, but many guys are unwilling to pay full price for porn.
Many people believe that paying $20-$30 for porn sites, in this economy, EVERY MONTH, is just stupid.
Especially when it's not that difficult to get the flick for free.
But NOW, you have an opportunity to get a large number of your old subscribers back...........by lowering your pricing.
I would suggest you use this strange new situation, like how iphone app creators use the Christmas season.
iPhone and iPad apps prices were SLASHED during the holidays to get the subscribers in.
And they STILL make by far the most money of the year during the "high holies".
A top quality iPhone game (top tier games from Gameloft for example) costs AT LEAST half a million to develop (Objective C programmers COST!!)
Even then they still make crazy profits with 99 cent holiday pricing.
Simply because, 15-20 people spending 99 cents, beats 1 person spending $4.99.
Right now with your business model, you have 1 guy spending $30 for a membership, for every 10-20 guys illegally downloading.
But if you dropped the price to $4.99/or even $9.99, those 10-20 guys will gladly jump at the chance to legally download without the hassle.
You'd basically be pulling an iTunes...(i.e. easier to DL legally for a low price and no hassle)... but keeping all the profits for yourself (i.e. not giving Apple 30%.
With the (perhaps temporary) closing of the filesharing sites, there's gonna be a lot of horny dudes with cum building up that would literally jump at their
computers if a good quality porn site had a $4.99 or even a $9.99 month deal.
HD porn for a damn good price will get us back to being your customers.
We spend $10 a month for filesonic or megaupload subscriptions without thinking about it.
We would happily spend that same amount of money on $10 Bangbros and $10 Brazzers monthly subscriptions instead.
DO NOT let this opportunity pass you buy.
Do it before the filehosting 2.0 technology comes out.
Do it before the filesharing companies move to Russia or Romania.(note that E. European "oron.com" is still business as usual.)

The file hosting sites are mostly still around and the industry isn't going to lower prices anymore than the MPAA will. They'll simply try to use lawyers to force everyone into the existing business model to squeeze more profit from people.

Last time I subscribed to RK, they do offer a $9.95 monthly scheme as a last resort when you try to cancel their subscription.

I totally agree with Tyrell on this. I recently subscribed to Payones because the content is good and it's very reasonable. More sites should realize that this is the way to go, especially in this economy.

mod edit: This is the second edit I have made to your posts to remove comments that are homophobic in nature, this now needs to STOP! Please read the PM I have sent you.
If the people had any spine they'd boycot all these damn companies that make millions of dollars and are complaining because they don't make a few million more. The average person should boycot these bastards.

This is ridiculous. Do u understand that porn is just another part of the entertainment industry ? Do u bitch & moan to your cable/sat TV company, internet provider, cell phone provider, movie theatres, sports teams for there rates ? Treat it as such and budget accordingly. The economy is in the shits because people don't understand the word b-u-d-g-e-t. If u can't pay off your credit card bill every month then your one of the ones that don't understand and porn is the last thing u should be spending money on anyways. The problem nowadays is the constant need for instant gratification. Why dont u just buy a monthly sub, download everything, subscribe again in 6 months and catch up. Rotate your fav sites and ju can be downloading something everyday.

Because you can't download everything at 1 time depending on the site and your service.
Internet companies are raising prices and reducing/implementing download caps.
Some sites have download caps as well.

Most sites don't have restrictions and there really is no cap, you just have to pay more if you exceed it. The bottom line is $ and quit trying to pass the burden to the porn companies. You don`t need porn to survive so if u want it so badly then sacrifice something else. Nothing in life is free.

Meanwhile....another 200 Gigs of porn was just illegally downloaded.
While you were harping on the topics of budgeting and instant gratification and the ending of America as we know it....
....the porn company that you love so much just lost more money to piracy.
If you want to start getting holier than thou, we can start with the fact that WE ALL should spend our money at the gym instead of
paying for porn sites. If we spent our money at gym memberships maybe we would get more actual pussy, and we wouldn't all
be spending time on a porn forum.....................
.......but I digress.
The plain fact of the matter is that the porn industry is just that...an industry (well, a cottage industry anyway.)
It's main reason for being isn't to make you cum,.... no it's to MAKE MONEY.
And lately it hasn't been rather good at doing that.
No one is trying to pas the buck to the porn companies, I just want the companies to be healthy and SURVIVE.
So instead of lamenting over the mental state of todays typical porn consumer, maybe you and the industry should take this
massive shakeup as a chance to reinvent their money making model.
As they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat. If you can't get em one way, get them another.

I guess I have to simplify this so you'll understand. If a porn company has 1000 subscribers paying $20 they will have $20,000 revenue per month, if they follow Tyrells business plan and decrease the rate to $10 there revenue is now $10,000 and will need to double there subscriber base overnight to stay even....not a very good idea. If you understand the law of supply & demand the companies should be raising there prices. Since u probably don't understand, it works like this, now that the "supply" of the free stuff is going away and the "demand" remains the same the porn companies are back in the drivers seat.

I'm thinking that when there is an iPorn or Netfux, all will be well.
All the stuff on iTunes is easy to find. I know where to go to get most music I want. The music still belongs to the source. Those holding out from iTunes are missing out on sales. I can preview a song, don't have to buy the full album.
When porn does the same, it will not only help in sales, but help to mainstream porn.

I don't agree with this. When all the music file sharing sites blew up, iTunes grew like crazy. They didn't do this because they raised prices, but in fact have lowered prices. Add to that the fact that most people stealing music don't have an issue being seen buying it. Not so the case with porn. Because porn is still not mainstream, people will find a way to steal it rather than be known to openly posses it. The only part of the industry that stands to profit are the sites that can provide porn privately. IF they want to bring in customers, they need to make it worth the customers while.
The best chance porn has it to consolidate and promote. Create a common purchasing source and work to remove the stigma of porn. When you have a seemed advantage is the time to do that.
