We try to offer both sex projects and some story line projects. It's not easy. We came close in a film short called P.S. 1 "The Policy" We firmly believe you can still have hardcore sex within a context that makes sense, but like I said, It's not easy! I don't wanna get off on a rant but this subject occupies 75% of our production meetings. Here are the basics. We have noticed that the adult video business is producing "more of less". The distributors don't pay enough for production companies/ studios to hire good script writers, pay staff, crew, and performers that are good with acting and sexual talent. Everyone is interested in "what's new", and not necessarily interested in "what's good". This has caused a very slow growth for us and most companies are not gonna buck the system. The rental market also adds to the problem. Lots of customers don't buy porn anymore, they rent. Why is this a problem? Well, production companies and studios only get paid between $8.00 to $10.00 per unit from a store (usually on a 30-90 credit term) And we only get paid once. The store can rent that video hundreds of times and pay no royalties from the rental. So it doesn't matter how good the project is. Production companies learn they need to focus on the "Next" project. That's why most of the studios stuff looks so mechanical. Production companies find a formula and pump it out like soda pop. Sorry, I said I won't rant but this really strikes a cord with us because many of our customers like our hardcore ethnic sexual plots but don't understand the financial realities of this business. We have decided to do both kinds of projects and if we go broke, we go broke. We believed there are people like you out there we just have to find them. Here's one thing you can do. Look for features and demand storylines from retailers. But when you do find what you like please "BUY IT!", so the store will reorder it. Vote with your Dollars. Good luck, Lisa Day
