I'm planning on joining a few sites but have never done it before. I've always been really apprehensive about it, but have finally decided that now is the time. I'm missing out on too much content and am fed up waitin on releases on DVD to see my favourite stars in action. I've seen some websites that offer a free trial. I'd like to try these out first to sample a few sites to see which one i want to sign up for. The question is, how easy are these ' free trials ' to cancel? Are they a con? How easy are these sites to cancel in general?
Not all trials allow you to download content. Watch out for any pre-checked cross sales when you sign up to any porn site. If you don't uncheck them at signup, you'll be billed for more than you intended. Any time you make a purchase online (even non-porn) from a site you don't fully trust, you should consider disposable credit cards as an option. You can buy disposable credit cards at the store, but your current credit card company may already offer it as an online service. Bank of America calls theirs ShopSafe and it's free. You set the spending limit on the temp card it will create for you and you also set the expiration date. Once you've used it online, it can only be used again by the same vendor and only if there's still any value left on the temp card. It puts you in control. Ask your banking or credit card company if they offer such a solution. I've had people tell me theirs didn't only to find out it did once they called and asked. If they don't, demand it. It's a great service that protects both parties. Hope this helps.

You didn't ask, but here's my advice about "cheap trials", where they offer a 3-day limited trial for $2.99 or something similar. Beware that those limited trials don't allow full access to the entire site. So if you're thinking "No problem, 3 days is plenty of time for me to download all the Nina Hartley (for example) scenes because she's all I care about"...it's not gonna work. Because you won't have access to any Nina Hartley or maybe 1 Nina Hartley scene, without paying the full 30-day subscription fee.
I highly recommend that you visit the links pringles posted because TBP and PU offer some very informative reviews and you often get some great deals from the them as well. I can't comment on Rabbit's review site because I almost never go there. I think that you should avoid almost all single model sites because 99.999% of them are plain awful. There are some exceptions and these you will probably be able to see by visiting one of the mentioned review site. The below link is for the section on TBP where you can see which sites offer full trials as opposed to what most sites consider a trial membership. You may want to try one of these but pay closer attention to the amount of time a the trial is good for. A full access one day trial is nice but that may not give you a lot of time to see what is available on the site and the rebill is often a lot more than if you had simply gotten a standard membership. full trials
Bump! I'm also a total noob when it comes to smut site membership but, like the OP, I've recently been seriously considering it. I appreciate the sage advice (above) regarding the use of temporary credit cards but I'm having a hard time online tracking down a company or banking institution that offers this service as a completely one-off, no-strings deal. Most require you to already be the holder of a regular credit card (which I'm not & neither am I interested) or suchlike. Can't seem to find anyone that generates single-use numbers either. Not much help if, like me, all you want to do is sign up for a one-month site membership for, like, $19.95 (£13 GBP) - and once only at that. I realise this is a porn - not a financial advice - forum but I have read up fairly extensively about this and am still at a bit of a loss as regards safe payment options. I'm in the UK, by the way. Anyone help me out here?
^You may be out of luck because credit card companies and every lending company require that the requester (that's you) have a credit rating demonstrating that they are a good credit risk. You could have a million dollars in the bank and still not be able to get a credit card if you have always paid cash and/or you never borrowed a penny. I knew that when I was in my teens and that's why I bought a high end piece of equipment and financed it over many months. I had the cash for it but I wanted to start my credit rating. I don't know your situation but if you're able to get a credit card then simply get one that only has 100$ available on it and this way you can surf for porn with the assurance that the most anyone could get out of your card is 100$. I've been using mine for nearly a decade and I've never once had a fraud issue and I have joined over a dozen different sites using multiple CC processor without one problem.
@N00dlesDaddy: Have you considered prepaid debit card? You use cash to purchase it at a store/shop. They are sold "everywhere" in the USA...gas stations, food markets, discount shops, Walmart, everywhere. Do you have them in UK?
An easy way around this might be to get both, the regular credit card and the pay-as-you-go credit card, and then just cut up the regular one the day you get it in the mail. That way you won't be tempted to use it. (Of course, you have to make sure you get one that doesn't have any monthly fees associated with it. But there are many out there like this.)
Thanks guys. I've decided to go with a MasterCard 'cashcard' that is neither a debit nor credit card; you simply load money on to it from your own bank account (so spending is therefore limited as to how much is on it). Mine has no application fee, no annual charge and no dormancy charge either. Transactions incur a very nominal fee (we're talking mere pence); likewise there's a small charge for currency conversions. Found it through a very reputable (UK based) financial advice site so it sounds like it could be the answer to my conundrum. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Watch out for the tick boxes on the Brazzers site $1.00 trial, you could end up joining and paying for a lot more than you bargained for........$1.00 turns into £1.00 in the UK and $30.00 turns into £30.00 too, the same with euros in Europe, they don't use exchange rates.
^ Will do. Mine is the pay-as-you-go version. They also do a pay monthly version which costs £3 GBP per month but the transactions are free. The minimum load (for both types) is £10 GBP so it's just what I was looking for for occasional short term site memberships. Oddly, you'd think they'd make more of the security aspect (of not using your debit or credit card online and only being able to spend the limited funds on the card) as a selling point. That's pretty much the sole reason I needed it.
^ Forget the card I recommended; I had to bin them off as they were taking too long to activate me. Instead I went for the Kalixa card. Bit of a faffy sign-up procedure (then again, I'm new to credit/prepaid cards - maybe they're all alike in this regard) but the card is a piece of piss to load and use.
