Probably things you never hear about because it isn't "news". Sure, I realize it isn't as intriguing or morbidly fascinating to think of porn stars as normal people who have a lot going for them - but I am going to present that side. I don't pretend that all of us are wonderful whole human beings. Of course, I can't think of any industry that can say that every person in it is without fault. Yes, I acknowledge that allot of what you read about porn girls or guys is probably true about THOSE INDIVIDUALS. But, I think that there has been a progressive shift in the kind of girls getting into porn and their reasons for doing it but that the way girls are judged and all lumped into a single stereotype hasn't changed. Not all porn girls are on drugs; not all porn girls were abused; not all porn girls are from broken homes; not all porn girls are broke; not all porn girls are dumb. I have met some pretty amazing women and men in this business. I have met many people I have a lot of respect for and care for. I am constantly amazed at the talent and character of people I meet in this business. And, since the ugly side of this business is already well documented and written about on every news & gossip site on the web, I can write about the good in the people I meet. I am not pretending the bad is not there - it is just already written about enough. So without any more of explanation of Porn Star Positives can I just tell you about Katja Kassin? ----------------------------------------------------------- I have wanted to come and write something about Katja ever since I shot with her the last week of November. How can I put into words how incredible this girl is? It isn't just that I find her very sexy or that she is dynamite performer- I knew all that from watching her on screen. What I didn't know until I worked with her was how incredibly intelligent she is and what a positive attitude she posses. The day we were shooting our scene for ATOGM - the Jake Malone movie from RLD- we actually had a very long day with two tasks instead of just one. First, we were shooting the box cover for the RLD gangbang that Katja and I are doing after AVN. Second, we were shooting our normal pretty girls and scene for the ATOGM movie. You want to know why RLD's box covers look so great? Well, they have a very talented photographer who sets up an incredible amount of equipment and spends several hours trying to get that perfect shot. Katja and I were in the perfect box cover outfits and planned poses. The photographer would shoot some shots and print out the results for us to look at. He would show us the photos and tell us what he liked and what he didn't. Jake Malone would give his input. Mason was there that day as well and she would give her input too. Then we would shoot again, print again, talk again. Shoot again, print again, talk again. Two hours later, they decided they had captured it and they would later go through the incredible amount of photos he took to find just ONE - the one for the box. Posing for two hours can be demanding (the positions aren't always comfortable) and tiring. Not only did I watch the top-notch professionalism of Katja Kassin as she did the job she was being paid to do with the best attitude - but I learned so much from watching her. Katja gets her job. I mean she understands the angles, the positions, the poses. She is amazing at figuring out how her body should go to make the shot work. Time after time she made a suggestion that both the director Jake Malone and the photographer looked at each other and said "let's do that!" I remember during the shooting of the sex scene after so many good ideas from her about positions and camera angles Jake Malone (who is as creative as they come) stopped and looked at her and said "You should be directing your own line". That one line captured Katja Kassin. She is so far from the mindless bimbo that shows up and barely follows directions throughout the shoot (and I know they are out there). Katja makes the scene she is in BETTER because she cares enough to deliver a great performance and she is intelligent enough to add value to the scene with her ideas. When we were driving home from that scene I told my husband "Katja Kassin is going to be a GREAT director one day if she wants to be". I had admired her on screen for her sexy body and her even more sexy performances. I went home from working with her even more turned on by her because I realized her intelligence, professionalism, and dedication was far sexier. I learned allot that day by watching Katja. I am better because I have met her. Our scene that day went really well because we both care about our scenes and we are both willing to go the extra mile. This post isn't about ATOGM - I have written about it in other places - but, I would SO recommend that movie. Katja and I rocked together. And, the other girls in the movie are also incredible and probably rocked there scene as well. What really, really stands out to me about Katja is how smart she is. I just got home from the Dominican Republic - I shot serveral scenes for the scottish director Gazzman. I am a little tired from the trip and I have got a really red sun burned nose (which looks quite funny on me *smile*) and a lot of mosquito bites... I would be happy if I had the opportunity to direct my own movies one day. Everybody that knows me will tell you that I am very organized - this is one of the most important skills a director must have I think. I run two different adult websites already (more to come) - the content is shot exclusively, I manage the entire project with my company(model booking, outfit/make up, production, editing, database, programming, hosting, payment, updates etc.) Anyway if I shot my own movies I would like to feature scenes with submissive girls and agressive guys and lots of anal of course ;-) Selena, I hope to meet you at the show in Vegas ...
