Should I be worried? It started on a Cam site (MFC). All privates are recorded by the site automatically but the star in question was only doing them via Skype. I assumed that since MFC records, that recording Skype would be fine too. Skype notifies all parties that the call is being recorded and the star noticed and then disconnected, messaging me that "I will sue you." Will she really? And since Skype notifies all parties that something is being recorded, could she really do so? I'm perhaps not rationally, freaked that some cam girl/porn star is going to sue me for what amounted to 1 minute of video before she disconnected.
The question isn't could she sue you - of course she could. The question is whether a court would agree that her suit had any merit. In that regard, the fact that the cam site records all privates automatically is irrelevant. The salient point is what you agreed to when you signed up at the site, and what, if anything, you agreed to regarding the specific session.
I would think she would have to claim some sort of damages, and what damages would she have received after being recorded for a minute or two of a Skype call, especially if you haven't actually distributed the video anywhere. She probably won't do it because she'd be paying a lot of money to get very little back if she did.

how can skype know if you are recording or not? i use screen recorders on windows and android and there is no way for snapchat/cam sites to know that i am recording.
Is this a joke? The word copyright is largely self-explanatory in that the laws around it establish who holds the rights to record, replicate and distribute content. By that rationale, if a porn studio copies makes copies of its movies it has the copyright for, can you do so as well?
I don't think so? I mean technically anyone can record live shows on MFC and Chaturbate, unless the girl disables it somehow. But I would steer clear of that girl... whoever she is... ^ There's playing devil's advocate, there's being polemic... then there's making baseless and fundamentally flawed arguments. That you technically can record doesn't mean it's permitted. Armed with guns, the culprits of mass shootings at the time technically can kill and maim people in their direction but that didn't make it acceptable or legal. I welcome you to find where in MFC's terms and conditions it states that you can record for private use. A half-well managed site shouldn't leave the burden of pointing out IP ownership with the individual.
Anyone with a good enough lawyer can sue anyone for anything. The reason why you are in the clear is a matter of opportunity cost. A) she probably cant afford a good lawyer. B) the site can but why would they bother? Who wants to be a member of a site that drags their customers into court. It would ruin them. C) lets pretend she can afford johnnie cochran. How much would a reasonable judge/jury award her in damages for a 1 minute unleaked clip? Unless the cam model in question is charlize theron and you could actually make money by release of said clip... the answer is next to nothing. In fact it would be less than her attorney fees. You're good. Case closed.
