I don't doubt that there's truth in there, but I don't really take most reddit throwaway posts at face value.

Unfortunately, nothing new, we hear about this shit all too often. It's all horrible, but this one in particular has always stood out in my mind:

Remember what Jamie Gilliss did to Brooke Fields?

These are forms of exploitation present in every industry. I think we like to believe the sex industry is somehow better about it, more transparent. Then again, I see scenes that feature women who are clearly checked out or upset, and yet viewers jerk off to it anyway. Whether they simply don't notice or don't care or even like that aspect, I don't know.
The final story in the article is misplaced though. Stalking is not the result of sex work. Including that story here is all kinds of problematic.

I agree. All involved disgrace themselves. I hear that this scene caused Brooke Fields to quit doing doing porn. Shameful.

The Centerfold Celebrities 2 Gillis/Fields scene came out in 83. She continue working in porn until 85. So, the scene did not end her porn days. Fields asked that the scene be removed from the movie & I believe it was. It did resurface later in an edited form. That's the version that most of us have seen. In that one, she looks uncomfortable, but not in great distress. The last Brooke Fields performance I remember was the b/g/g scene with Kimberly Carson in the 1st New Wave Hookers movie. Fields was in a real life relationship with one of the Dark brothers at the time.

I don't condone rape...but I think everybody above my post right here seems to be forgetting an important thing.
They have sex for a living.
They do not need to stay. They're under no obligations to keep working, if it's not for them they can get a normal job like everybody else.
Did I mention they have sex for a living?

I remember roxy starr in white chicks licking black crack she CLEARLY did not want to do that scene. And she was new to the industry and barely ended up doing 10 scenes before she retired so I think that's a scene like they were talking about

Uncomfortable to say the least. Brooke Fields can he heard pleading for help. IMO sex workers can be raped, and she was.

Right. This version does not include the worst parts such as Fields telling Gillis to stop and begging the crew to help her.

I have seen the version where she begs for help. Brooke was raped and I hope that Gilliss is suffering in purgatory for raping her. Did he ever apologize for his disgusting conduct?

I've never seen that idiom before. It's oddly forgiving, in that it implies that you hope he is on his way to heaven.

Info here.
There is also a thread on ADT about the scene. Basically he forced anal on her. This is not the only time Gillis has been accused of knowingly and gleefully pushing a woman beyond her limits. Constance Money, Lisa Be (second hand info concerning the performer in the 800 Fantasy Lane BDSM scene which I found truly disturbing before I read Lisa's article), and Nina Hartley have all had stories to tell. The fanboy reaction to defend Gillis is pretty gross. I love his performances in many films but am under no illusions as to what kind of person he was. Check out his home videos...

https://nypost.com/2018/08/29/i-was-treated-like-a-piece-of-meat-adult-actress-waits-for-metoo/
"While the #MeToo movement has swept through Hollywood, the adult-film industry has mostly shrugged off allegations of sexual misconduct. Blighe's experience underscores the secretive, black-box nature of the porn business, coupled with the still widely held belief that people who are paid to have sex in front of the camera have no credibility."
This is what I would have thought, but it seems it us not the case.
"the cloistered world of porn, performers tend to watch out for each other and word travels fast when there are problems, Mr Gelbard said.
"Performers talk to one another," he said. "This is a very incestuous group of people."
"When somebody is doing something that is problematic, generally speaking, that person doesn't stick around long, they're going to get blackballed."

It means that although it's completely despicable if a girl is ever forced or even pressured into doing something she didn't sign up for, being a pornstar isn't the only option.
If a girl gets even the slightest idea that the industry is not for her, she should leave. Even if she has no education there are other options.
Immigrants come to North America with no education and no knowledge of the culture or language but a lot of them still end up making a living and even having happy and healthy families.
I would say it would be an extremely, extremely rare case where someone's only option is being a sex worker.
I would like to make it very clear that I'm not just saying "well if you're abused you should do something else." I'm not making an excuse for any of those disgusting men that have treated adult entertainers badly.

This sounds like a sermon , as in "to sin is not the only option" "if you sin you can't complain if you got the punishment you were looking for"

But , here's a problem once you enter the industry it's hard to get out, the outside world may cause you problems you didn't sign for , you'll find hard to get a job , many thinks that since you acted like that you'll be keen to get buttfucked by any guy with a dick and they act accordingly , or you may be cast out by your neighborhood because "they don't trust women like you around their children and especially their daughters" , You can be blackmailed at work by someone who knows , maybe your boss himself.
If you are employed somewhere your boss can't have you to act as his chauffeur .
If you're hire to rebuilt a wall you don't have to rebuilt the roof too for the same price.
a pornstar is a sexworker , with stress on the word "worker" she's hired to perform an act and get paid for it , if you hire a girl to do a blow job you don get to fuck her in the bathroom for free, nor you can ganbang her up the ass for the same price.
they're not hired for sex , they're hired to play a role that involves sex at a reality level
in whatever working environment in the civilized world an employer can only ask to an employee to perform what he/she has signed for , nothing more.
I truly can't understand why porn should be different and only toward women even
what would you do if a male performer suddenly find himself in a bi movie and forced to give head to the director and be royally assfucked on set?
Does he have a choice? Is it a risk implied with the job?

Well you kind of are. What you're effectively saying is "sex work inherently involves abuse so if you can't take abuse, get out of sex work." You also seem to be suggesting that sex work is the only field of work that involves abuse, harassment, and assault. That in itself is a pretty alarming level of ignorance.
Finally, is sex work ever "the only option"? I would guess that nothing is "the only option." But, the only viable option? The option that makes the most sense for someone? Absolutely. And what if it's not their only option? What if they could do something else, but prefer sex work because they're good at it, they enjoy the hours/money/work/clients/shoots? Does that mean they are not entitled to a safe work place? Too often when people discuss sex work, they only accept the worker's rights or worthiness of compassion if they were forced into it somehow. That is a toxic and dangerous attitude that perpetuates violence against sex workers.

I mean, I'm sure it's happened before, but life isn't like the movies. The chances of 1. someone at work recognizing a pornstar that only did a scene or two and left because of the work environment AND b. using it to exploit the girl sounds unlikely.
The chances increase for a more tenured pornstar that is attempting to reenter the normal workforce, but this is something one should expect when they make their choices. Is it fair? Of course not, a girl should not be judged for being a sex-worker. If she has the right qualifications, she should have every chance to become an accountant or doctor or lawyer or whatever as the next girl who wasn't in porn. But life isn't fair, and you have to live in reality. Reality is: if you decide to enter porn, it could hinder employment opportunities in the future.
AGAIN TO BE CLEAR because people like to put words in your mouth instead of actually arguing the facts/points: it's not fair, but it is what it is. In a perfect world things would be different but this world is far from perfect.

Kind of amazing how much you've twisted my words in such a short response.
1. I did not once say that "sex work inherently involves abuse". Not even close. It does not inherently involve abuse, but (just like in any walk of life) if you're being mistreated you should try to get away from it.
2. I can't think of a scenario where sex work would be the best/most viable option for someone. Curious as to what you think this scenario would look like.
3. I never said that a girl is not entitled to a safe work environment if she prefers to be a sex worker. Not even close. Just that one should be aware of the realities of the profession. Are the realities fair? No, but reality is reality.
4. I never said that sex work is the only field that involves abuse. Not even close. Unfortunately in the world we live in, there aren't many places that women are completely safe. But I'm sure as hell confident in saying it's a lot more common in sex work than most other fields (per capita).

Doesn't have to be the best viable option , it just need to be an option of choice .
I don't think that to work in mines is the best viable option , it's not the safest for example, this doesn't imply that there shoun't be safety measure or that the worker have to be pushed into more risky conditions.
I think it's basics

yes you did , by suggesting that a performer has to expect some kind of exploitment or abuse on set , it's very much like pushing deep further a miner especially when the abuser goes anal which you may already now is the riskiest sex act when it comes to STDs
Edit , minor spelling issues

A few points to add:
1. While Gillis's behavior might not have been acceptable, don't forget the porn industry in the 80's was still an outlaw/underground/mob influenced industry, so any talk of workplace safety issues compared to the today's industry is kind of moot.
2. For every female porn success story there's 100 non success stories and a few train wreck stories to boot. Heck, there a trending one right now by a former "It" girl.
3. You can't have it both ways on a porn set. Can't have the government come in and regulate some aspects without them wanting to regulate other aspects The second a condom issue gets brought up by a governing board everyone's all bent out of shape saying the government should have better things to do with themselves. Performers themselves will say they don't want the interference, so why should anyone care on other safety issues? I hate to say it, but the reality is, porn is and always be a fringe business, so why should anyone outside the industry, excluding porn viewers, really care what happens to performers on a set?

If you ask me, most performers in the biz, especially female performers, only say they don't want condoms because they know it's what the fans want them to say. If it was up to the women in this business, the vast majority of them would want the added safety and protection of condom use.

And the added irritation of using a condom while having sex for 30 minutes or more? While I don't doubt that there are performers out there that would use condoms in all their scenes if it were more financially viable, I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say the majority of them would, and are only saying no because it's what the fans want to hear.

Yes, both performers and producers know that the vast majority of porn viewers - or better yet, paying customers - would not be happy if all American-produced porn had condoms. It's understood that if that were to happen, even less people would be willing to "pay for their porn" and a lot of them would look elsewhere for it (i.e. Europe). And getting back to my opinion where I stated that most performers would prefer condoms, I stand by it. One need not look any further than the latest "production hold" thread in the Porn News - Press Releases forum for proof that this business still poses a health risk to all performers.

As it would seem all those who worked directly with the performer who resulted positive are negative , so maybe it happened somewhere else

^ Exactly. If it happened in porn, there would have to be two positive tests. The person who was HIV+ prior to the scene, and the person who contracted HIV during the scene.
But there was only one positive test. Therefore, that person must have gotten HIV from outside the tested talent pool.
Anyway, yes, there is indeed a risk working without condoms. I'm sure some performers would like to work with them, because they have written about it in detail (Aurora Snowarticle). But there are also risks to working with condoms. I'm also sure some performers would like to work without them, because they have written about it in detail (Casey Calvert article).
How many are on each side? I don't care to speculate. But it's important to note that there are indeed voices on either side of this issue, and all performers deserve to be listened to.

^ This is the sort of issue that could move towards resolution if there were an organization that meaningfully represented performers. I know there are many challenges with pulling such an organization together, but I still think it could serve a valuable function.

There are many stories where performers feel trapped or are too scared to say "no" in fear of losing their job. So it's encouraging to read about a performer looking out for herself without negative repercussions.
