My views on this film title is that it's a bit unimaginative and might be trying to mask some tame content. It's too "try hard". Or "try little", perhaps. I haven't seen it, though. Have had disappointments from Anabolic in the past and tend to avoid them. Quite low production standards. I'm surprised by the reactions in this thread, I must say. It's all about context and how you take the use of the word "whore" I guess, whether you associate negative or neutral (positive would be a stretch, maybe, but an overly active sex life is no bad thing per se, of course) meaning to it. I think one of the key roles of porn is in challenging these conceptions. I was reading a female porn director's comment the other day about how one of her key aims was to "reverse the idea that being a slut or a whore is a bad thing" or similar. Might have been on here, actually, although I think it was private.com. I endorse that. Good attitude. Both male and female porn stars are, of course, "whores", "sluts" etc. but then like I say I don't associate any negative connotations to that. They're satisfying a basic need, as am I. Both they and me possibly have an overload of that need but who cares? I'm surprised Tricia would object too as it doesn't appear overly-nasty or to contain any personal attack, it's more just crass/tacky. I doubt there's anyone out there who would allow a porn star the benefit of their prudish doubt as long as that star's hardcore films are given discreet names, is there? "A porn star? Tut tut. Oh well I suppose I shouldn't be so judgemental. 'Backdoor Bitches'!? Where's my phone!? I want the president on the line". etc. Porn does what it says on the tin, basically. I like filthy porn film titles, because I myself am a whore....or at least a wannabe one usually condemned to resorting to voyeurism. As long as it sticks within the boundaries of the sex on display I don't really see how any porn title could or should upset a member of its cast, unless it was someone determined to stick within soft porn or "the erotic arts" and thought someone was being sneaky/opportunistic/misleading with their material. I don't think that's the case here, personally.
The title of this series angers me for a lot of reasons. Sex is a positive activity; name-calling is not. And this is outright name-calling. Anabolic might as well title it, "Thanks for all your great work, you cum sucking whore." There's no honor in that. Imagine receiving a professional award and the plaque reads, "A Life Saving Pussy Named Dr. Smith." What an honor! I'm sure he'll hang that in a prominent place in his office. The incongruity of the covers bothers me, too. The title is always running down the side of a glamorous pretty-girl photo. If you're going to stoop to name-calling in the title, why not put the most unflattering, poorly-taken photo of the whore on it too? Maybe one of her sucking cum? My biggest problem with this is that it alienates potential female consumers. I'd love to recommend a compilation of Tricia's scenes to other women, but I'd feel the need to apologize for the title. "Just ignore that sense of personal outrage you feel, and give the content a chance." For my clientele, this title would be difficult to sell.
It's a bit different though, isn't it? Why would you call a doctor a "pussy"? That's outside of the box in a way that calling a female porn star a "cum sucking whore" isn't. Poor analogy. It comes down to personal preference, really. I find the title a bit obvious and crass but like I say, I'm surprised people here are taking real offence.

OMG - give me a break. My responses are from 2002. That's 1/5 of my life ago. I'm not attacking you Vulture, but people evolve and mature. In 2002, my daughter was just born, and I was still balancing out how I felt about the 'darker' sides of porn. This is exactly why I didn't want to respond in my thread. It's a dead subject to me. It takes a whole lot more to offend me today than a word. I'm a whole lot more offended by stupid, ignorant people than I could ever be by a word. Today, my assistant happily calls herself a hooker, and I'm proud to call myself a slut. Because, well... I am. Was the title meant to be malicious? Who knows. I don't really care. It was released almost a decade ago.
The entire debate over sexism or misogyny in porn is as pointless and ridiculous as the neverending debate over racism in porn. The whole raison d'etre of pornography is to arouse the viewer, which means sometimes appealing to our basest desires or fantasies. Granted, some folks may be turned on by satin sheets, champagne, and strawberries. But for a great many men and women, sexual fantasy is rooted in the exchange of power, conquest, humiliation, and degradation. And as long as it's confined to the realm of fantasy or consentual sex, I see nothing wrong with porn exploiting it. In fact, I'd argue that one of the socially redeeming missions of pornography is to allow the viewer to explore those fantasies in a guilt-free fashion, and to awaken them to the realization that they're not alone in those fantasies. I think Tricia's an amazing lady, who's had an extremely positive impact on the industry. But every performer has to take these things with a grain of salt, and healthy sense of humor. Any performer who would be genuinely offended by this title, probably should've considered a different line of work, or at least avoided a company like Anabolic. And any viewer offended by it should resign him or herself to the inconveniences posed by the 1st amendment, and get over it.

When I originally worked for Anabolic, they hadn't started coming out with titles like that yet. Not that it matters. Like I said, I was more offended by words back then. Now, what people say about me doesn't affect me as long as I believe in myself. I agree with a lot of your post, but degradation means different things to different people. To some, a girl doing porn at all is allowing herself to be degraded. To others, that's a girl just not going by what society thinks is proper. When I was bummed about this topic being bumped, it wasn't so much about that one comp, as it was about me rolling my eyes at the inevitability that this would turn into another discussion of mysogyny and abusive behavior.

That's fair enough Tricia. I mean, how you would respond to that title is your business and I don't have a huge problem with it, beyond being maybe a tad surprised. I did note the thread date also but was just responding to your comments of then, which was obviously all I could do. If your opinion has changed since, then that's probably good sense but like I say, that's just my opinion. Very good that you take time out to chat with porn fans. I'm new to this forum and still a bit honoured/impressed by all of that. Great to get direct opinion and feedback from porn stars/directors.

I must comment, we have always chosen titles that were clever or funny or erotic. Degradation of women has never been part of our business. I think that when some of these studios come up with these titles they are going for a shock factor that they think appeals to the buying public. When the buying public stops buying these titles, believe me they will change. It takes vey little brain power to come up with Dumb Blondes or cum soaked chin drippers.
There are a ton of titles out there, named that way. Anabolic had a whole line that included Shyla Stlyz and more. There there was another called '(Insert performer's name) aka Filthy Whore). I hate titles with Whore, Slut, Bitch, Pig, and cunt in the title.
ding, ding.. it exists. I wish they still called comp tapes based around one performer 'Deep Inside (Insert Performer Name Here)' or something else creative. The negative stuff smells of misogyny.
I've always like the Vivid titles, especially for compilations like 'And the winner is', etc.. you guy have respect for performers unlike like many companies.
The indignance over this series title is giving me some great laughs over my morning coffee! I agree with skronk on this one. This is PORN, folks! False advertising is much more anger-inducing for me. Anabolic recently released "A Cum Sucking Whore Named Lucy Thai". WTF?! - The girl is a natural-born CUM DODGER. Thank you...we tried to create a theme, award winning scenes for instance, and deliver it with a title that said what it was. In the last 15 years I have been a part of naming over 5000 comps, and not one of they was degrading to the stars. Again, when people complain loud enough, or stop buying titles like that, they will change them.
I don't mean to say that the opinions expresses here are invalid in any way. What I'm going to say (and it has been hinted at several times) is that the Internet Porn Community, just like the Internet Wrestling Community, are rather divorced from the casual viewer in both opinion and purchasing choices. The casuals out number you though. What's more is that I hate vanilla porn and I'm not alone, though it feels that way on this site. I've only seen one porn that went "too far" Cody Lane in Teenline, that was too far. I like watching girls get spit on, gaped, gagged. Fuck my Skull is oe of my favorites of all time. Which leads me to my point. When I'm shoping through titles I and I see two movies. One is titled Hillary Scott Filthy Fug Pig and the other is titled Teenline, well one is sounds like it's going to deliver the kind of raunchy sex I want to see. The other sounds like it has barely legal girls which I swear must be porn code for no tits. I'd rather fake bolt ons than a flat chest. People like me aren't going to buy porn that doesn't have that kind of language in it because it likely doesn't have the kind of action I'm looking for and not everybody has the creativity to think Anal Princess Diaries, Obscene Behavior or Anally Yours _________.
Here's an idea...Why don't companies start creating titles to their releases that actually sound like MOVIES, instead of degrading the performers as we see so often. I know I keep harping on this, but "back in the day," even the sleazy titles were tame (and genuinely creative) compared to what's out today.
