Let me pose this question with performers.
I can understand the regular performer not seeing the big picture. They got their scene rate so if it is up on porn hub they may not care or think about it.
But what about performers who self produce. Joanna Angel puts out her own product which is immediately on PH directly hurting her ability to profit from that release. whatever she does herself on PH does not make up for that loss. However, she was to my knowledge at the PH awards.
How about Angela White. She works hard on all time great releases like Angela 3 from last year. That was on PH immediately in some form, right? How does she feel about it? Was she at the PH awards?
It is a discussion worth having. It seems the power of Mindgeek and their control of so much of porn, has more and more people just giving up the fight and working with it the best they can.
Perhaps this forum remains the last battlefield on principle, but it seems porn as a whole is moving towards co operating with the colonial power instead of fighting it.

^Angela vol 3 isn't fully available to stream/ download over a year after release so I think if she felt that strongly about it she'd make sure people at least have the option to pay for it in digital form. In a lot of peoples minds a physical copy of a porn flick just isn't an option they'd consider. I'm not saying its right but surely those pornstars who self produce have to do their own bit to maximise the chances of people paying rather than making it difficult

The special case with Angela 3 aside (where physical is the only form of getting some of the scenes), what do you expect from other producers that for example do only release online? They offer their product, but for a fee. Reading further up in this thread, that boiled basically down to 'it's to expensive' to be a member to every single producer's site, so it's OK to get it from a tube site, and the producer basically should try to get some (minimal) compensation from those tubesites.
In my opinion, it comes down to this:
-> If I'm a small studio/performer having a hundred subscribers for say 10$ gives me 1,000$. What do I get from PH if 100,000 people see the videos I'd charge 10$ a month for free there? Sure, some say there could only be appetizers there that would lead to more subscribers for my site but I'd really like to see the numbers on that (especially if there's little I can to avoid some people uploading the entire scene (so no appetizers) there, so no incentive to subscribe - apart from the loyalists who really want to support a studio/performer
I'm not sure if the subscriber numbers (and view numbers) are somewhat realistic at all, though. It probably really depends on the popularity.

Well even if they want to , it'll be a matter of money to invest, money they're not earning because of piracy

If I read this thread correctly then it breaks down in two parts. If you are a pro-Tube sites then you cannot or will not look at how harmful all those tube sites are. If you are anti-tube sites then you know just how harmful those tube sites have been to an industry that was already in financial trouble after the recession.

Tana Lea also posts things directly on Pornhub. She posts the links via her Twitter page. They are full scenes too, not just a 10 minute cut down version. She also posted one that she directed. Idk if some performers think posting a free scene will will entice people to purchase other content with them. Like on YouTube music is posted by bamds all the in hopes people will buy it via I tunes or the physical copy amd they always mention Spotify which is free unless you have premium to skip ads but itherwise you can listen to what ever you want.

A lot of bigger stars don't own their content, the studios who shot and produce them did. They will push out scenes to drive overall memberships and physical media sales. They can do this, because they will film hundreds or thousands of scenes, so dropping a few on Pornhub to try and convert costs them very little.
Where Pornhub can hurt, is when you're a small amateur or independent. I've made over 100 scenes, and have tested out the tube sites , even though many of the other models/performers don't really do it. It doesn't convert very well, and represents such a small fraction of my referral traffic overall. I think when people go to Pornhub, they are there for free porn and will most likely click to a related video than actually go and pay offsite. Now, I shoot a specific niche, so I'm generally not trying to appeal to a wider audience, so take that as you will.

^ That's what I was thinking too. Too little turnaround for small producers, but of course it saves you the the trouble of setting up your own shop (where you'd have to wrestle with bandwidth issues, website design, payment processors etc.)
clips4sale and manyvids (and similar) can help in that instance, but I guess that content probably also gets uploaded to the tubesites eventually.
On the other hand, recently I was reading on the Ginger Banks twitter where she complained about Pornhub not being able to pay out what she was owed (due to some banking issues, don't really know), where also an amount of thousands of dollars (I'm not sure over which time period) was mentioned. So it is probably a bit like youtube insofar are a few big players can make a sustainable living from it.

I mainly sell clips on clipsites, that's where the majority of my adult income is made. It's still a very vibrant and active market. Pornhub, on average, pays out $0.50-$0.75 per 1000 views. It varies on a lot of factors, but that gives you a ballpark. In order to make a living, you have to be generating millions of views per month. In itself, it's not going to do much for you, and as a marketing platform its only useful for "awareness." Though, to be fair, in order to generate millions of views, you generally are already pretty popular. The ones who can rise to the top of Pornhub are very much the Ninjas or Casey Niestats in this industry.

I don't see anything wrong with that business model because if those are her scenes and she wants to use the traffic that goes to PH to increase traffic to her site than that's fine but are all her scenes the ones that she gladly uploaded to PH or are some that were stolen and where she will never make any money because they are free on PH? I would also like to point out that some of her scenes currently on PH are scenes that aren't just her property because there is a full scene she shot with James Deen in 2017 and he has it on his website. Did he accept to have that scene shared on a tube site?
Others have already said it. Music is a very different thing to video because while you might listen to songs on You Tube and other platforms. You have to either steal it or buy a copy of it if you want to listen to it on your portable device or use up a lot of your data to stream it away from home. It's also very important to remember that there are millions upoen millions more people listening and buying music than there are people watching porn.

Small producers are lazy
all they need is managed vps ($40/mth), zencart (open source) & ccbill ($500/yr).
There is no great trouble to set up a site, its easier than ever.

^ ccbill and zencart, ok. But will a managed server for $40 a month suffice w/ regards to bandwith? I mean, there's a reason big content providers have CDNs & other stuff.
Again, I don't know how many parallel downloads/streamers a small producer would have, and how many a month? do you get unlimited transfer volume? with 4 TB transfer, only 1000 customers per month can download your 4 GB HD clip. And how often do you get bandwidths north of 500 Mbit/s? And, last, but not least, how many of these hosters will object with setting up a porn site?

They would were they to offer HD or 4K content , but as some already said before those who don't pay still want the best existing stuff , so if you don't prpvide the most updated and upgraded stuff they'd feel perfectly fine into stealing your immaterial shitty product that you have to produce and shoot at your expenses with nobody paying for it..

That would be a real problem , if I update some of your content , I'd get paid as much as you do, thus a producer would get as much money as a pirate but all costs are still on him/her.
Furthermore a producer wants to earn over his brand , so say Mary Doe would sell her stuff as "Mary Doe" , a pirate on the other hand could sell her material as "housewife slut has fun" "friendly Neighbor indeed" "brunette gets laid while husband is away" and so on, with no brand I can sell the very same material many times leveraging on different tastes.
Furthermore whereas a producer only puts his stuff say an update per week, a pirate can put whatever he wants say ten scenes from different performers per day each of which with three or more different titles and a dozen tags to maximize his potential audience.
While the producer struggles to get thousands of views from a single scene , the pirate has hundreds of scenes out there as times passes the producer's material gets old and possibly overused by the pirates whereas theirs continues to go, he doesn't have to invest anything , doesn't have to study the market wher to invest what he should shoot , what to avoid , To him everything is good.

Here is an old true story.
in 1938 director Comencini was working in Cinecittà , he wasn't a fascist quite the opposite actually. One day a big brass from the Fascist MINCULPOP an institution to direct and control Newspapers ,Radio Stations , and Cinema went there and called him in private and told him:
- You're not wearing your Fascist emblem
-I have none, I'm not a party member
-Here's mine either you wear it on your jacket or forget about filming.
The moral is that when you have no choice partnering with someone os showing up with someone or something doesn't necessarily mean that you agree with him nor that you actually support him.

Here's how a company that has supported our community for longer than I can remember feels about Pornhub:
[Tweet is no longer available]
We exist for and because of people who pay for their porn.

^That response is probably the one that every single porn producer past and present has when they see their content on tube and torrent sites and sadly they are correct that these a..hole will never stop. I would even add that the douchebag owners of tube sites like Brazzer/Mindgeek and Legal Porno feel about the same way when they see their content on the tube and torrent sites that they don't own but it's really hard for me to care about their feelings since they are by far the biggest thieves today.

What is really sad is that you know that the people who are defending tube sites stealing content would be rip shit if it was happening to them.

Why do other producers haven´t come up with the idea to post Brazzers stuff on an alternative pornhub channel. Just to get them back with their own tricks and let them feel what stealing porn will lead to?

Of course they would because nobody wants to have their stuff stolen but in this case it goes beyond stealing stuff because tube/torrent sites are by their very existence porn destroyers instead of porn supporters and anyone who partakes of their services helps little by little to destroy what used to be a thriving industry. I can name like I'm sure you can name at least 8 to 10 studios who don't exist anymore but who used to be porn powerhouses less than a dozen years ago and it's not just the economy that killed their business.

This. All the other studios deserve at least some of the blame for letting brazzers/pornhub/mindgeek/manwin get as big as they are.

By the way, still waiting for the Angela by Darkko download on evil angel over a month after physics DVD release.
This is what I'm talking about. If you don't want people to try and watch it free make it available to pay for online at least. Again not excusing tube sites and piracy just saying they could reduce it at least slightly.

Now that Blake Blossom has announced that she has jumped forward very quickly from rank 2000 or so to 300 or so in the PH model rankings , I became curious and looked at the first few pages of the ranking .

I am not advocating the use of PHub , but I have a leaning for rankings ; and it seems PH is the site where a lot of celebs and less known models upload their own stuff ; so it might be one of the most accurate sources for knowing a model´s popularity .

When I opened a thread about Freeones rankings ( also quite practical ) on the Legalporno forum , the moderator recommended me XVideos ( for obvious reasons ) which has a more intricate system than PH : You can find the rankings also according to the countries , which is unfortunately not possible on PH .

Again , not advocating Xvideos , but I see that lots of Latinas and Spanish girls have their own channel there with their scenes . They also promote them at their Twitter .
Some of these models have their threads here at ADT .

As a reminder : I am against piracy .

^ I find the rankings interesting as well. I wish they would make their data publicly available to explore and sift through, or maybe they do and I just don't know how to access it.
