Not sure if this topic belongs here, as this is a policy not a technical issue. Anyway, this forum has a policy against posting/linking material from pornhub, which is understandable enough back in the days when it was just the wild west. It, however, has long since gone corporate and has done away with, as far as I can see, piracy. Should this policy still be continued?
The reason I'm asking is that I just watched a 12 min clip of a scene on PH (which is more or less standard for them as they are essentially an advertising agency for many producers/creators), and would like to discuss it. However, I'm concerned that this may be considered distasteful at best, verboten at worst.
I don't visit PH, do they still allow user-submitted content? I guess what are their procedures to ensure fans and random dudes from Pakistan aren't uploading unauthorized/stolen clips? How about revenge porn and stuff like that? I realize it's a huge marketing outlet for many studios. Because of that I've looked into allowing video embeds from PH here in the forum. But I only want to allow links or embedded videos from verified channels. It's been a while since I looked at it. (at least a couple years if not longer. Certainly before they became Aylo.) Back then there was no automated way of verifying that a video channel was part of a verified channel. Maybe that's changed. If that's the case then I could certainly implement something to allow PH stuff here.
There's also the "slippery slope" aspect of moderating tube site stuff. It becomes difficult to effectively communicate that PH is ok, Xvideos Red is OK, Xvideos.com is not ok, xnxx.com is not ok, etc.
Speaking of Pakistan, I once saw an Holly Randall interview with Serene Siren (the most prolific g/g performer active in the mainstream, winner of 2022 AVN Lesbian Performer of the Year). It's on youtube, and there's one comment that made me laugh. Solidarity!
Anyway, I'm no lawyer for PH, but after browsing their website around a bit, this is what I found
- Random upload is not allowed. Only verified model or "content partners" are allowed to do so.
- Such would-be uploaders must send documentations to PH.
- For a "verified model," the process is pretty detailed, including uploading government ID, doing a live face scan, and signing a bunch of documents.
- Lastly, they list of bunch of programs that target abusive content.
I can't speak about any other tube site, so that's up to you. But for PH, considering the stringent uploader requirement, my guess is it's policed better than most non-adult, mainstream social media apps. You used the term "verified channels." It seems to me, at least according to their policy, there is in fact no such thing as "unverified channels." This is not surprising, as Aylo literally owns Brazzers, one of the biggest porn site. They would have a very strong self-interest to maintain their legal status.
p.s.: just to test it out, I tried the "upload" function on their site, and here's the message I got.

Verified uploaders can also upload and it looks like they are pushing the responsibility to ensure your material isn't being uploaded on the content owner by making them go through a 3rd party.
While they let me look at all their TOS pages, I can't view anything else due to the state I live in, so I can't search through and look to see how much illegitimate content shows up.
^This whole "fingerprinting" thing is not very clear. From their own latest "Transparency Report" -- "When we identify or are made aware of the existence of content that violates our Community Guidelines on Pornhub, we remove the content, fingerprint it to prevent re-upload, and, where appropriate, may ban the user."
Anyway, some other interesting info from that report (covering the 2nd half of 2023): a total of 1.7 million pieces of content were uploaded (photo + video), out of which 114,075 were blocked at upload or removed, or about 7%. Here's a breakdown of the reasons.
The largest two reasons are "community guideline violations" and "co-performer verification incomplete." Digging into their community guideline a bit, prohibited content falls into 5 categories: illegal (like underage content or depicting drug uses), non-consensual, harm, spam or copyright violation, and "otherwise unacceptable."
Hilariously, this last category includes content that "depicts, role-plays, or implies incest" 😂😂😂
I downloaded their webmaster data feed today. It's a HUGE file. Going to take a bit for me to get it pulled into the database and see what's in it that I might be able to use. I would like to have some form of automation to know which videos meet certain criteria (studio, verified performer, etc.) and if a video might have been removed, etc.
Howard Stern, of all people, may have said it best many many years ago. "As soon as you get something wonderful like the internet, someone's waiting to control it!" ...mind that's the old Howard, not the sanitized pseudo-sanctimonious guy concerned about his legacy and mortality today.
I was actually working on importing their movie data feed into a database earlier this week. They have a master list now and a daily update of additions and removals. Need to study the data. I am open to the idea of allowing embeds of clips from their site supporting the official/verified channels. I don't want to allow linking/embedding of content from unverified uploaders if that's even possible there now. Still need to study it more. It's a huge amount of data.
Thanks for the update! Like we talked about before, I highly doubt if unverified uploads are allowed. At least it should be no more likely than Brazzers allowing a performer with unverified age and no documented consent to appear in one of their videos.
It's no rush, and I'm not particularly clamoring for embeds. As long as discussion is ok, people can search for the video themselves. The reason I'm asking again is because I just got a warning from a mod for just discussing general viewing statistics on pornhub (published by their data team "pornhub insight"), which seems quite, uh, draconian.

Until policy changes you can't discuss so people can find the video themselves. And TBH you've gone crazy over the "draconian" warning so I shall upgrade it.
