I ran across this article the other day regarding former porn performer Sophie Perez and how someone allegedly "faked" her death.
I would guess that for some porn stars who wish to pursue a 'civilian' life after their porn careers are over this would be an option. But do we have any other incidents like this one where someone has been declared dead only to resurface as very much alive? Its their right to disappear if they wish, of course, but faking death seems a bit over the top.

IAFD has a section on dead porn performers and you can see which performers faked their death. I personally have no problem with them doing if they think it will help them make a clean break. I'm not sure it would make a difference for most modern performer because the internet has made disapearing rather difficult because your pictures and movies are always available to anyone in the world.

Lisa Deleeuw is probably the most famous of these, assuming the fakery is true. I had always heard she died from AIDS, yet there are several sources that claim she is alive (the source of these claims is, I believe, in the book Skinflicks, which says she is alive). Her wikipedia page, for example, says she is alive and age 53. I'm not sure if she faked it or if she just got caught up in a rumor, or for that matter whether she's alive or not. It's still somewhat clouded in mystery.

There are lot of faked death
Jim Morrison , Elvis, Jimi Hendrix , Curt Kobain, Moana Pozzi, Michael Jackson and I believe Amy Winehouse will be seen alive somewhere soon.

It would be illegal if I faked the death of my real identity, particularly if it was with intent to defraud (social security payments, for example). But I could fake the death of "LubeNLuv" and it not be anything more than killing off my online forum persona. Since "LubeNLuv" isn't a real person....no crime in that.

^ That's not what these people are doing though. Think of it as a more determined retirement.

I would guess profiting from faking one's death is the motivation for most people including porn stars.
Think of it, you take out a hefty life insurance policy, allow some time to pass and fake your death via drowning at sea, only a body is never recovered. After a certain amount of time elapses, usually one full year, you are legally dead. Meanwhile the insurance company usually pays off the policy to the beneficiary. All illegal of course but you get the drift.
The author Sue Grafton wrote a fictional book on this, it is titled, "J is for Judgment". The faked death took place off of Mexico with someone falling off a private yacht. Most insurance companies will not hire a private investigator to go into a foreign country to sort it out.
I'm not suggesting of course anyone do this just giving a reason why some attempt it.
