I hope most people know where I stand toward porn and know that I find this opinion ignorant, hypocrictal but is shared by large segments of guys who frequent adult video stores. What do pornstars have to say about it?

Hmm I have responses toward this pile of ignorance but I want pornstars to react to these assumptions. I guess producers who make tons more money than pornstars just do it for the money too. what I don't get is that the author assumes that women don't enjoy the sex because they are getting paid. That is sheer stupidity. Should we assume that pyacholgoists only help people out of money. Should we assume football owners want football teams because it makes them money. If I fucked on camera I would like a lot of money too.

I don't feel that pornstars or sex workers in general are "beneath me". In fact, I hate using the terms hookers, sluts, whores, etc.. to refer to women. I view porn actresses as people who are sharing their sexuality with us. Helping us get off. And I am grateful for that.
That being said, a lot of what that guy says is right. For me, Porn is a separate world of fantasy and I don't like to think about the real-world truths that your guy is talking about while in my "porn" mode.
But I must say that you are being a bit naive if you think most pornstars are not in it soely for the money.
So, if we agree that indeed money is the main factor , then you can put the porn performers in these categories:
1) Those that truly enjoy their work, and have fun during the sex. -- Less than 5% I'd say
2) Those that aren't really into the sex on camera, but do a very good job at pretending to be.
3) Those who aren't into the sex, and are bad at pretending to be.
4) Those who only show up for the paycheck, look like they want to scene to be over *yesterday*, and generally don't care about creating the right fantasy for the viewer.
For me, #1 and #2 girls work just fine. Since it is all fantasy for me, it matters very little if the girl is *really* into it or if it is just very convincing performance. If I am getting excited and aroused the job is done!
What do I think you should do? Stop worrying so much about what porn performers think and focus on your own enjoyment.

As for the difference between porn and prostitution, as much as I like porn, this is a distinction that has always perplexed me.
