If porn is not illegal then why should one be discrimated against for their life choices? Even some hardened criminals get a better break than some porn actors post career. AngryPirate Senior Member 3210 Posts 8/17	Posted - Jun 11 2021 : 10:23PM Playing devil's advocate, the "it's not illegal" argument only goes so far. Being legal and being ethical aren't the same. If an employee's past or their recent conduct can create unnecessary distraction for an organization or harm its reputation, that's often grounds for dismissal - legal or illegal matters not. Does sex work fall under the remit of civil rights as it is a choice? Sexuality, race, disability, age, national origin and gender identity aren't choices. Do I personally care about seeing a teacher who had been in porn before? No but I understand that many look down on it and will make a twisted judgement that it is incompatible with working with children despite their porn work either being solo or with consenting adults. I also understand that having done porn can be a big distraction for the school from angry parents (and busybodies who don't have children at the school) regardless of the teacher's competence. Martin Shkreli acted completely legally when he increased the price of a drug by 5000% per pill. He acted legally but was he right in his choice to profit more from vulnerable people's ailments? Was it unfair that he was condemned for it? [Link]
