Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else is waiting a long time in the UK for their DVDs to arrive. I've recently purchased DVDs from Adult DVD Today and Five Star DVD (two excellent companies) and while I normally receive DVDs from these companies in three or four days (once they've shipped), I've noticed that the waiting time is anything from a week to two weeks lately. Anyone else noticing a delay. I live in London by the way.

My experience is the opposite. Normally DVDs from Adultdvdnow take about 14 days to arrive here (Yorkshire) (postage cost about $5 for 4 DVDs) but since December the delivery time has been less than 7 days!

UK mail is one of the worst mail systems in Europe.
It sucks in the worst way.
I sent a CD aimail to a friend on December 22, he still hasn't gotten it yet.
The same envelope sent to Austria, Germany, Norway, Netherlands or any other Western Europen country would only take about 1 week, not with the Royal Mail though.
It's notoriously slow and I've always wondered why?

Not sure that it is actually the worst - it's certainly one of the cheapest for "normal" postage items. I heard that the Vatican send all its mail, in bulk, to Switzerland rather than trust it to the Italian postal system.

Thanks for the replies, guys. At the moment, I'm either getting DVDs after about 2 weeks or I'm not getting them at all!

I suspect that I have a light-fingered postman in my area unfortunately.

There is nothing wrong with the Royal Mail, they managed to get a letter from one end of the British Empire to the other end in just a few weeks, and they still do. Only the Empire has shrunk a bit since then...

Yes but we did at least once have an empire and today hundreds of millions of people speak english as their native language.

Not a insignificant achievement for an offshore island. I'm not making any comparisons......

Royal Mail is shit. It is so slow, doesn't come til afternoon, second post is now non-existant and i usually have go and collect parcels myself. The sooner their monopoly ends the better.

The trouble with the UK post is that its VERY inconsistent, depending on what are your post passes through. I've had some mail both domestic and abroad that has taken only a few days to arrive, then others that have literally taken months. And of course sometimes the posty decides to chuck the mail in the river and it never gets to you at all...

I know Royal Mail does get a lot of bad press but i have sent and received many parcels abroad and have been amazed by their airmail service.

Here are some recent examples. All airmail

2 days Germany to UK
5 days UK to Australia.
3 days Netherlands to UK
3 days Hong Kong to UK.

Mind you i am still waiting for a VHS tape of The Equalizer that i won on ebay back in November to arrive from the USA :-)

One problem i have been having is their recorded delivery service.

This week i have a recorded item delivered through my letter box without being signed for and even worse they had ripped the recorded label off the envelope.
