That is what I am going to do here out of respect to Adriana. But words cannot express the utter disappointment I feel for her once again being overlooked at the XBIZ Awards for Female Performer Of The Year last night and not just that, but in who won that award instead. There are a swathe of better performers out there that have acheived more and shown more diversity besides Adriana who should have won this award and even they themselves have not been on the same level as her this year. I do really wonder if XBIZ has totally lost it this year. Just look who won Male POTY too and don't even get me started on who won Best New Starlet but it certainly wasn't Megan Rain as it should have been at a canter. What exactly criteria are they evaluating performers on that could possibly lead to these decisions? If other people want to post the names, be my guest but I'm keeping it anonymous. I'm just expressing my feelings of great disappointment in yet again the right person, and in my mind the ONLY person, in the running for Female Performer Of The Year getting overlooked for somebody who has acheived nowhere near as much, nor shown anywhere near as much diversity, nor has worked anywhere near as hard. Adrianna is too extreme for what they want at this stage. Unless that attitude changes, I don't think she will win it. Personally , I would have voted her last year and this year. But again, this is about branding and image to the mainstream audience and a triple anal blowbanger is not what they want right now. Hope she isn't too upset about it as she had an amazing year. I am speechless with disappointment. Talk about daylight robbery at the awards last night, what a farce these awards are. Just like XBIZ, none of the performers who should have won did win. There's no question that Adriana was the rightful POTY winner, nor that Megan should have been crowned BNS. All due respect of course to those who did win but I'm sorry AVN got it so wrong, again. When will they recognise those who put in the work more than everybody else, those who are - almost beyond any debate - outright deserved winners. Truly scandalous. More than anything else I feel for Adriana, who should have won by a country mile and yet again was outright ignored by her "fellow professionals", I can only imagine what she might be feeling. Yes it is subjective based on one's personal opinion but up to a point. When you consider the body of work by those who did win compared to those who should have won - especially POTY - there can be no debate, opinion is irrelevant. The facts speak for themselves. Then you look at the versatility within Adriana's body of work, again there can be no debate in my opinion. I said months ago that anybody other than Adriana for POTY or Megan for BNS I would call a farce and after today I stand by that judgment. I hate sounding bitter, but I can't help it when the performers who were runaway candidates, practically garunteed by the general consensus of the viewing public, are overlooked for others who have had a handful of memorable scenes or movies by comparison. Strong words on my behalf I admit, and perhaps a part of this is just venting, but more than anything else it is in response to another year of grave injustices comiitted by AVN. I was worried this might happen, but to me it's obvious certain people drunk the koolaid and overhyped Riley's first anal scenes to the absolute extreme. You are not going to convince me that somebody's first ever anal and first DP is better than any in the same year from a veteran in Adriana. I saw both of those scenes and, despite it being the first of both, I have seen much better last year. It's just because they were firsts that it won and hey, they were in the same movie so that means it's GOT to be the best showcase right, and therefore the Best Director too right? Pff, Adriana had TWO showcases last year, a rarity in itself, taking every scene in both movies by the horns and giving every last inch of her energy into making them some of the most passionate and extreme and intense scenes she has ever done in her career and out of all those one measly nomination. Last year was bad enough when Adriana got overlooked for Best New Starlet for somebody who had had a comparitively tame year but this year I had real hope, seeing her somehow work even harder and push herself to acheive even more right from the get go. Somehow she kept it up and and the longer she did, the more confident I grew thinking "Ain't nobody gonna get near her this year". Alas, it was all a false glimmer. She had more nominations than all but one other performer and the person who won more had among the least. Go figure. What I will say is that the industry had better reward Adriana. To not recognise her as one of the most inspirational modern icons of the industry would be one of the greatest tragedies ever. Seriously, what the fuck more can she possibly do to even get so much as a glimpse of recognition? I'm sorry everyone, I'm just venting again. What I will say is that I just hope and pray this does not knock Adriana's confidence and faith in an industry that she has given so much to and yet received so little back, not just for one but now two years in a row now. If you are reading this Adriana, I apologise for going off the rails. As a devout fan, it frustrates me and the more I think about the more annoyed it makes me. Let's take a look back to 2010: 2010 -- Tori Black, 5 awards (including FPOTY ; showcase: "Tori Black is Pretty Filthy", EA) 2011 -- Tori Black, 4 awards (including FPOTY ; showcase: #2 to above) ; Asa Akira, 4 awards (showcase: "Asa Akira is Insatiable", EA) 2012 -- Asa Akira, 6 awards (including 5 for her EA showcase #2 to above) 2013 -- Asa Akira, 5 awards (including FPOTY ; showcase: #3 to above) 2014 -- (Anikka Albrite had 3 awards for her "Anikka" Hard X showcase, but this year doesn't fit the trend as well) 2015 -- Anikka Albrite, 5 awards (including FPOTY & 3 for her Hard X showcase #2 to above) 2016 -- Riley Reid, 6 awards (including FPOTY & 3 for her Tushy showcase, "Being Riley") It seems that the AVN voters have largely gotten into the habit of deciding a single "winner" for the year--one with one of those high-gloss showcases--and just loading that one girl up with awards. And, while perhaps not intending to, this gives a big middle-finger to many of the other girls. I mean, let's be honest. Awards like this are generally incredibly arbitrary and are subjective, by definition. Further, there are plenty of exceptional performers in the industry with exceptional performances every year. There really is no reason for one performer to "sweep the stage" like they have been lately. In some respects, it seems like there's a bit of "group-think" going on with the AVN voters, or--dare I say it--an attempt at "star creation" going on. Indeed, by doling out a heap of awards on a single performer (or two) at these shows every year, they're effectively creating the "face of the industry", and it makes me wonder if they're more trying to influence the "news" than simply report upon it and evaluate performances. I know that I'm getting close to a "conspiracy theory" here, but the numbers are a bit strange, as is the correlation to the specific brand of showcase. (Of course, I suppose that it could all be attributable to laziness in voting / viewing, as well, so who knows...?) (*As an aside: It looks like the AVN voter pool largely expanded in / around 2010, according to an old Don Houston blog post over on a competitor's site. This also jives with my memory of the time period. It could also have something to do with the trends above. For instance, I wonder if the broader pool--including more external critics--isn't more prone to swaying in the direction of the "flavor du jour" than the tighter group would have been.)
