I was wondering if anyone would be so gracious as to comment on Private's DVD offerings... I am particularly interested in hearing any thoughts on the Pyramid trilogy and the Tatiana trilogy. I believe both are by the same director. How do these series compare with each other (and with other non-Private titles)? Which series is superior? Can each volume stand on its own or is it necessary to own each of the volumes in each trilogy to understand the story or enjoy the DVD? Any particular volumes stand out from the rest or do they all just kind of blend together? Any comments on The Pyramid, Tatiana, or Private DVDs in general would be appreciated!  - FDC  [Link] |

Some people can't stand that it's all in French dialogue with an English narrator, but I don't care. The sex is amazing Hardcore action. Each DVD is over 2 hours long, and you never want the story to end. You can't go wrong with The Pyramid or The Uranus Experiment Trilogies either. I would start with Tatiana 1, then see if you want to go any farther. Good Luck!  [Link] |

Saki: Not really sure I understood if you were making a statement or requesting information...(could it possibly be your very first unclear post?!? ) From what I've heard about the Pyramid and Tatiana DVDs: 1) both have excellent transfers; 2) more/better features on the Pyramid DVDs; 3) the Tatiana DVDs are all dual layered (no flipping) while the Pyramid DVDs are all single layered (most of the movie on side one, flip over for the conclusion of the movie and to view the extras) I hope I got that right.Can you guys or anyone else expand on the differences between the two trilogies? Themes, stars, type of sex, etc. Pretty much all I know about the content is that the Pyramid was shot in Egypt and Tatiana is set in the 1600s and everyone wears costumes or something. - FDC [Link] |

Also, I really liked EXTREME DESIRES but one part of it that "took the edge" off slightly was the "slow-mo" way it was shot in a lot of places, it made it a slightly less intense experiece I thought. My question is, do the other ones in the series have the same type of slo-mo camera work? Yet another question I have is about the [url=20931]www.private.com</A web site, they have DVD's listed as being out many weeks before any of the US suppliers say they have them. do they sell them on-line for a while before they are released to stores etc.? Back when this was done DVD-9 was still pretty hinky. (My word for quirky, not real sure it's gonna work every time). Making it into a 9 at this point would have required a total and complete re-authoring. Given the original budget of the DVD, doing it again would have meant probably never seeing a profit on the title. (There's a huge difference in what is spent producing Private DVD's and other companies. Private doesn't hold titles for sale only on the Private web sites. The titles reach the public as soon after completion as possible. There is only a difference of two to three weeks between when the DVD's are available on Private.com and when you see them on the shelves. This is the amount of time it takes to get the discs into the US and out to all our distributors. OGV titles are now coming available. Something Very Big and Oh My Gush are available now, Peeping Tom will hit stores next week, Pick Up Lines the following week and March will see Cumm Brothers, Creme de la Face, Fresh Flesh, TS...I Love You and 100% Amateur. The discs that you see here are the exact same ones you would find on the shelves in any country in the world. The only difference would be in the package language. At this point in time, the US is far and away the largest DVD market in the world, therefore all DVD product is produced with the US market in mind. One thing this means is that including fisting footage would be begging for obsenity prosectuion and hardly anyone would carry it for sale. Sorry to disappoint fans of fisting but no major studio will release product of that nature until congress or the supreme court defines obsenity beyond the current "community standards" idiocy. PAL and NTSC have no bearing on DVD. Unlike VHS, DVD is standard worldwide. The only reason a disc from one country wouldn't play in another would be region coding. Each player is designed to play only those discs sold in the same country. Private and OGV have no region coding on the discs, so they can be played in an machine anywhere in the world with the same results. [Link] |

I have some DVD's by the Euro firm "Magma" and they have no region codeing on them, but my 100% Us region 1 player will not play them, I forget the message on screen but I think it mentioned something about the TV system. I can play them in my PC fine (via a nice region selectable hack) and I know they are in PAL. Do you think it might be your comments are based on the fact that all Region 2 players can cope with NTSC and PAL, that, and the Region 1 market must make up the vast chunk of DVD sales worldwide and you assume there is no NTSC / PAL in DVD?? Can a DVD have a region code and not be regionally encoded? An example would be a book from France written in English. It's still a Frech book (origin) but it's not "coded" in the language of France. My comments were based on technical knowledge of the two primary systems used worldwide for the encoding and authoring of DVD. Just as there was a fight between DVD and DIVX to see which would be dominant, even earlier there were several possible "standards" for the DVD format. I am only familiar with the technical specs eventually adopted by all the major entertainment corporations. It's very possible that Magma is/was using a first generation process which eventually fell out of favor. If that is the case, it is something I wouldn't be able to comment on with any knowledge. A explanation might be found here, but it wouldn't involve PAL and NTSC which differ primarily in frames per second. All the Private DVD's which play here and the rest of the world are struck from PAL masters with no compensation. I do know that with the current technical specs, the region codes were created BECAUSE of the fact that there would be absolutely no bearing between DVD and the various VHS formats such as NTSC, PAL, N-PAL, SECAM, etc. The various formats are what allow studios to control exactly which markets are sold. I'll be doing some research on Magma's DVD's to see what I can find out. If anyone else comes across something interesting, let us know! Thanks!! Faron [Link] |

Would love to know what the message is exactly. I've been looking over some technical materials at home this weekend and finding some honestly conflicting data. It looks like I may very well have been misinformed. Also, those Private release dates can be frustrating! I tried announcing the release of Private discs ahead of time ONCE. Of course, once I had commited to the dates with customers the discs got delayed and the release order shuffled. This is a quirk particular to Private. I can tell you that the titles you mentioned will be available either on the 7th or the 14th of March. The exact date us up to US customs. Torris- You've hit on one of my very own pet peeves ! Why the black background on your page? All light is just sucked into that morass. I've seen a lot of adult sites and I bet 2/3 of them employ black backgrounds. 2. A lot of adult customers aren't really interested in signing up for $9.99 a month for a porn feed from a video company. And having the video portion buried into all that is difficult to glean out the video info. 3. Since DVD has become such a subculture of its own, highlighting DVD releases and DVD titles soon to be released would be of a monumental help. I keep a list handy of "want", and am looking for what is coming out so I can place my order when it does eventually arrive.
