| Maximum Booty Member New Orleans 347 Posts 9/02 |  Posted - Oct 17 2002 : 11:15PMHi, I just got my copies of Euro Angels 3 & Kelly's Way To Love in the mail today and I have had problems on the DVD player I use in my room. EA3 locks up after a couple of chapters while KWTL refuses to load at all. Now both discs play fine on the Power DVD on my computer and fine on the Panasonic DVD player in the living room. The player in my room is my XBox, which for space purposes doubles as gaming system & DVD player. These are the only two discs of any genre that I've had problems with on the X and I was just wondering if I was alone on this one or were these early EA releases and might have something a little hinky in the mastering process. | BIGmike B-I-G-m-i-k-e 2335 Posts 3/01 | Posted - Oct 18 2002 : 8:52AM I used to be able to play it on my DVD-Rom but that was lost when I reformated my HD (Basically because the rescue disc got scratched and I couldn't load the DVD program back in.) The few discs that won't play on my standalone player, play perfectly on my PC DVD player. So I am able to play ALL my discs on one or the other. We don't use the same replication companies that did either of those titles anymore, so perhaps that is the problem? Unfortunately, not all DVD players are the same specs, so it's hard for us to figure out exactly what's going on in each situation. [Link] |

We have found that on some of the lower end clients that request DVD-R delivery that the finished, replicated product is more prone to have playback errors and glitches than product that we have delivered on DLT. And if they are delivered on DVD-R, some of the individual brands of DVD-R themselves tended to yield higher failure rates than others. I am also a believer that it depends upon the hardware you do the encoding with. In other words, a dvd made by a Spruce, Daiken or higher end Sonic system has less failure percentage than say a system using software based encoding, like iDVD, etc. Anyway, I'd be curious to know if you've experienced any of the same results with your guys' stuff and also what kind of system you do your encoding and authoring on.
