It appears the search function is using the thread origin date, when you specify a date range (within past 30 days, past 2 years, etc.)

I would expect it to use the 'most recent post' date.

I was searching "thread titles only" - perhaps that is significant

I was searching for the "...things you LOVE in porn..." thread in porn pool

I used the word LOVE in the search box, and checkboxed 'search thread titles' only, and specified Porn Pool forum

The most recent post in thread was April 22, 2020.

It uses the date of the first post when searching topic titles. The subject text is associated with the first post in a topic. Replies don't have subjects associated with them.

I can make it work like you're describing.

Hmmm, has the search date operation changed from date of Original Thread post to date of last post? I think this is preferable.

I was looking for an old post of mine earlier today, and I was able to find it be limiting the "within the past" date range in the search function.

I just used this search criteria

and it bought up these posts

Now this thread was originally created on Dec 25 2017 - so more than two years ago. Under my understanding of the date range in the search function, 'In the past 2 years' would not bring up this thread at all, as the only date it is using is the original thread post.

P.S. I just got broken images [small squares] in the preview screen.

Okay. So when searching for posts, the search date uses the date of the post; when searching for threads (topic titles) the search date is the original thread date.

Yes, that's correct. The topic title is assumed to be associated with the first post in the topic. Everything that follows is a reply. Replies don't have a subject/title.

Ok, that is an answer to my problem today. I narrowed the search for the Rachel Starr thread on 30 and than 60 days and was wondering why I didn´t find it due to the fact that I posted only a couple of weeks ago.....

^ Not specifically related to the search function, but I notice when I search for an existing thread on a topic, multiple threads come up that really could have all been the one thread.

I notice that in the past when someone wanted to discuss something about a pornstar (or actor, sportsperson, musician, ...) instead of having a single thread encompassing all discussion, people would just start a brand new thread.

Following on from this, when starting a new thread, I would have thought there would be some type of searching that occurs in the back end, to see if such a thread already exists. At the very least, I would have thought if starting a new Star Crossed thread on a performer, the system would check if there is already a Star Crossed thread with that performer's name.

Note: I'm not including eulogy threads in this.
