Drew,

The Comparison Card keeps forgetting me. It lasts for one session only. I know how to get it back. but it doesn't stay back. I have to go into the KickBack section and sign in again every time I want to add something to my cart as it doesn't know who I am. I cleaned out all cookies on my computer and started fresh to no avail.

Suggestions?

i always find something on my end is wrong in similar situations, though i'm not a member there. i would have screwed up something with where my temporary folders were or how i cached them and passwords, wrong referrer headers or user-agent, or somehow i'd turn off the security accounts/protected storage background service windows wants to remember encrypted data and such. i'm not sure what browser you're on but maybe double-check the obvious stuff.

The same thing is happening with all 4 of the browsers loaded on my computer: IE6, FireFox, generic Mozilla, and Netscape 4.7 -- that can't be a coincidence.

Also, it has been happening for some time now; however, I can't really pinpoint when it started -- probably a couple of weeks ago. I'm fairly computer savvy and I can't think of anything I might have changed that would affect all of the browsers, much less even one of them. (Although, I admit, I've done stupid things in the past and been blissfully unaware.)

I knew you could find your way around a computer fine-I can too but sometimes it's a bad thing. I've ignored the obvious enough times to start looking for it instead of some complex answer. That's really strange though, I have no idea except it being on the other end of things, was it working before the site went down last week?

edit-duh, scratch the last part.

I'm really not sure when it stopped working. I know it was working properly in early January. It's just not working now.

I don't know if this is related, but after having accumulated over 650 porn (and nearly 250 non-porn) DVDs, I swore off buying new titles as a new year's resolution last year (I'm saving money towards Nikon's new D2X digital camera); however, I didn't stop adding them to my list. In the interest of full disclosure, I should note that it currently has 403 entries. I wouldn't think that would matter, but I don't know that to be the case.

cookies are all screwed up. when we switched over to the new server in early january i must have missed copying a few files in the processes. some of the cookie logic is from april of 2004. this will be fixed soon. hopefully on wednesday.

Another question, Drew,

At one time, you planned to create a system whereby we could have multiple comparison carts. Has that died or just been tabled for a rainy day?

it hasn't died. it's actually mostly done. it's unfortunately lower on the priority list at the moment.

The comparison cart problem should be fixed. If you are unable to see the items in your cart please login to your Kickback account. This will reset the cookie and the correct cart should be visible.

I am going to create a separate login/cookie reset page for people that do not have Kickback accounts to fix the issue for them.
