Well, it seems everything has been said so i don´t intend to push it. I think everybody will deal with it his/her way Eventually everything will come to an end someday anyway Cube
From a retail POV I know that proper trailers help sell movies. And how can they even figure this out when the EA titles are available at every retailer too, people can download trailers from your site and buy the movie elsewhere. I don't think it's a good idea. Jacco

Jacco- Sorry, I'm going on a serious lack of sleep right now and am confused. Are you saying you think having the download or stopping the downloads is a bad idea?
Sorry, it could have been more clear. I think not allowing people to download a trailer is not a good idea. And I found the old list with new releases a lot handier for deciding what to order for our shops and to see what was coming up. Jacco

If the concern is people watching the trailer instead of buying the movie, the obvious solution, to me, would be making the trailer shorter, not worrying about whether it's being downloaded or not. It should just be a little 30 or 45 second prick-tease, not a five minute long, Readers Digest condensed version of the movie. Five minutes is plenty long enough to, well, you know . . .
For me..I love the fact that I can view the trailer..then buy the dvd..which I've done on 95% of the time!!..Over the last yeat..I've probably bought 50 or so EA dvds..(lost count)..I buy all dvds of Joey ...Jay..Rocco..Jake.Christoph.Belladonna.and watched the trailer first for each of them..I miss the old site...but at the moment..I cannot access the site at all!!..I assume its shut down and the techies are working on it??..I hope the trailer feature will be back up and running as it was previously?
+1 Trailers should not contain: - Pop shots. That's like the spoiling the ending. - More than 2 positions per scene. Leave us wanting more. - Bizarre special effects that don't appear in the actual video. I'm looking at you, JJV, and your swirling anal gapes.
Trouble is your also punishing the people who actually buy your movies. What a joke! I almost feel like boycotting EA titles (except JaySin ofcourse simply because I can't).

I HATE the new site and LOVED the old one. 2 reasons: 1. The choice of speed and versions for downloading trailers. I would always choose EVIL / WMV. 2. You always could quickly check for new trailers on the far right-hand side. I bought tons of Evil Angel movies because I had downloaded and watched the trailer. A trailer is never a substitute for a full DVD.
I just checked evilangel.com and it looks likes posters who wanted the old site back (which includes my self) have gotten their wish. I don't know if this is a temporary solution until the kinks with the new design are worked out. alexl467

C´mon guys. EA knows about the problems and they are working on them (i hope ) All this ing won´t help either and we don´t wanna piss of Tricia (our ) do we I understand the need to find another solution for a website if maintaining gets to timeconsuming. I´m an "oldschooler" if it comes to Websites ... the simpler the better. "I" don´t need flash and all that other crap so many sites seem not to be able to live without. We have to wait and see what the finished (a site is never finished btw) site will look like and maybe if we all behave we even get the "Trailers" back Cube Edited by - cubesnake on 1/5/2009 9:44:58 AM
Hopefully they realised the new design was "complete arse" and have gone back to the drawing board. I'm not sure what porn companies pay for their sites, but the new one was awful.

Pissing on someone isn't necessarily a horrible thing. The site switch of the last day was a really f'd up situation. Our server host had an outtage. Some of our stuff was corrupted and it's being worked on. It's only a partial coincidence that I felt like throwing up most of the day.
^ Under firefox I get redirect loop. The confirm age link redirects me to the /home while under IE it redirect me to /main. I suppose the reason is in the cache. But it does not reload the page even after I hit the refresh button. Maybe because of the cache settings - so if somebody receive this redirect loop may try http://evilangel.com/main intead to go to the http://evilangel.com or to clean the cache.

ok... this is probably my last post in this thread till next week (after AEE). It's going to have problems this week. Possibly lots of them. We're aware of a huge portion of them and can only fix them so fast, considering that some of our main internet people have to keep some of their focus on Internext. The old site being partly up was/is a temporary fix.
Thank you. That fixed it, I haven't been able to get into the site through Firefox for days. IE works fine, but Firefox keeps giving me the redirect loop error message.

I haven't been able to get the trailers to work either. I'm sure it will be sorted out soon. No big deal though...they'll likely fix all problems soon. Evil Angel has had the best website of them all over all this time. Well, them and Jules Jordan. When a company is kind enough to share their trailers to encourage potential customers to check it out before they purchase it, it shows that they care to satisfy their markets. I am always glad that I can preview any upcoming release from Evil Angel and see if I like the look of it and the girls involved. Really, more companies should follow their example. I'm hoping the trailers will be fixed soon but I'm more so waiting for Wet Food 3 to come out if that's ever planned.
What’s with the redesigned evilangel website? So far the general verdict has not been good. But in fairness to the programmers who no doubt skipped a few christmas dinners in order to "update" the site, maybe a little constructive criticism is do The Pros 1)Aesthetics...The new website has a more streamlined aesthetic scheme with a consistent signature motif that incorporates all the titles in a way that emphasizes not only their individuality but also place within the overall evilangel brand range 2)Navigation....The new website is easier to navigate with boxcover thumb nail button/links replacing text in a way that introduces a sense of fluency and ease in navigating from page to page However the update has its serious flaws 1) Content....The new website only provides flash trailers for series after January 2007.The old one provided downloaded trailers from 2004 onwards. There may be a compelling server rationale for switching from downloads to pure flash but what rationale could the be for removing all trailers for titles before 2007? Basically all trailers between 1999 and 2007 are nonexistent. Nearly 80%. In fairness most titles only had trailers from 2004 in a low wmv format, but they still existed. In terms of evaluated consumer psychology trailers play a consequential role in the transition of the acquisition cycle from passive browsing to actual purchasing. The notion that there is an archetype of browser who eschews buying DVDs in order to exclusively subsist on 5 minute trailers isn’t borne out by the empirical data. In fact there is a high co-correlative relationship between those who watch trailers and purchase products. Not only are most trailers missing now, having thumbnails that purport to link to trailers only to discover they don’t exist is worse than having no trailers at all, it creates a sense an incomplete site with amateurish presentation values. The majority of the pre 2007 Siffreddi,Stagliano,Leslie,Malone,Clark,Belladonna backcatalouge now amounts just to a series of inanimate boxcovers.Look at the comparative data. Consumers who have viewed a trailer have a higher marginal propensity to purchase a product than those just exposed to inanimate boxcovers with descriptive blurbs. Keeping the archived trailers but switching them all to a view-only-flash format would have addressed the concern about the amount of traffic that is only interested in downloading trailers as a substitute for purchasing product. Essentially it appears that the Evilangel website is no longer a media rich destination site in itself but just a collection of boxcovers that link to periphery sites that offer merchandise. If you look at web traffic analytics and quantitative data, studio sites with trailers(Jules Jordan, Elegant Angel ) and other media applications average ten times(60k) as many unique visitors a month as sites that offer few trailers and just a series of boxcover thumbnail jpegs(6k+). More than that entire series are missing. What happened to the Justin Slayer and the Harmony series? There may be legitimate business and contractual reasons to explain their disappearance but the overall impression is that that the "updated" site actually has a lot less media content than the old one when intuitively the reverse should be true.
2) Economics... Does it matter that evilangel.com is becoming just a collection of boxcovers with the occasional flash trailer as an update? Yes. The porn industry is not immune to the seismic forces changes the consumer media economy. First music then film then TV now porn. Porn DVD sales are declining by 15% a year with the emergence of free streaming media like youporn and the attritional effects of peer to peer networking. With a shrinking consumer base that is increasingly reluctant to pay a premium rate of $50 for a porn DVD, when non-adult entertainment retails at $10 and porn on line is increasingly free, studios that survive will have to offer a product that those other generic platforms do not.Unlike traditional media, Porn like fast food is pretty much a generic product that retains the same tropes that can appear repetitive, so selling more of title (x) than title (y) is really all about packaging and branding.Studios and their sales-leading sites have to offer branded, differentiated, integrated catalogue instead of the random generic uncatalouged content that is available for free. The way to do this is by branding media and catering to the consumer who doesn’t just buy the occasional title but buys series. If some one is going to pay a premium rate for a DVD they expect to see something more substantial than a boxcover thumbnail jpeg, they expect a substantial trailer in a viewable format. The new flash formats are not only exclusively limited to titles produced after 2007, they are in a smaller format than before. Doesn’t evilangel view its pre-2007 back catalogue is a viable sustainable revenue source? By just producing a website that is essentially a collection of boxcovers no studio will be able to stem the inertia of the trend towards free streamed porn platforms because their product will not be differentiated from those generic platforms. If some one has a choice between 30 minutes of free streamed porn or a collection of boxcover Jpegs the outcome is obvious. 3 Branding... The Evilangel has to have a unique identity, an easily definable brand resonance and a utility that transcends beyond the generic archetype of a html driven site that acts as warehouse of thumbnail boxcovers of DVD back catalogues that no body will soon remember because they lack trailers. Look at the fate of the likes of Clubredlight, a reluctance to package, brand and provide trailers for their backcatalouge meant many of their archived titles were chopped up and recycled as generic fodder for brand free network sites looking to pad out their bandwith. Now its merely a coincidence that they were produced originally by clubredlight which increasingly becomes just another generic site albeit one that is now competing with other generic platforms that have the advantage of being free. As broadband speeds increase and consumers begin to expect and define websites in the context of the media they provide, a site that consistent of a majority of trailer free boxcovers will not compete. Boxcovers are a relic of the pre-broadband 56-k dial-up age. The Evilangel website to survive and retain its traffic numbers has to offer more than just a collection updated flash trailers and a back catalogue of boxcovers, it has to be destination site with a unique interface and utility all of its own, retaining its traffic by offering the returning consumer enhanced ways and means to view product and to build their libraries. The new evilangel website just looks like trailer/media light, boxcover/jpeg heavy mechanism to drive traffic onto premium evilondemand, evillive and evildirect affliates.
Strange the trailers works here. If you get "trailer not available" message I think this means that there is not released trailer yet because some of the movies have trailers.
I would guess visitors would like it as much as i do if those navigating "helpers" (left_arrow, numbers from 1 to 10 , right_arrow) would be added to the end of a page of Thumbnails. Therefore they would not have to go all the way up to navigate further. Cube
Adulta5k, that was a well presented argument. I am not sure I agree that the aesthetics of the redesign are as good as the old site but I do agree 100 per cent with the rest of your post.

It is important to realize that different security settings of browsers may not be configured to handle the latest & greatest flash or java techniques used to enhance websites which are constantly being updated. In other words, try to keep your browsers updated and be aware that when you update your browser a security setting or two may be reset in a manner that may not be intended.
I actually kind of like the new site... I did have a few problems navigating it the first few times I looked at it, but I think it seems to be working better now. Although I must say, why is some of the text so huge when I click onto a title? Or is that just me...? :(
With regards to trailer availability on Evil Angel, I find it extremely ironic that Elegant Angel's new site provides trailers for older releases whereas the previously had a very quick time after which trailers were not available. As far as claiming that trailer downloads were driving down DVD sales - look at the left side of the site (when its up). It's ads for VOD as well and the director branded web sites, which are outlets that compete with DVD sales.

AdultA5k - Thanks for the thought out post. I'm in a difficult situation because I don't have the technical web knowledge that I have of editing movies where I understand solutions so much better. So I'm having things explained to me in semi-layman terms by the people who are actually doing the work. It is not an intentional thing for there to be no trailers for movies from before 2007. The old website had several different sections that were all manually linked and tried to make look seamless to the viewer. So trailers were stored in different sections. As always, someone's working on it. Unfortunately, two of the available people are partially unavailable at InterNext in Vegas. Most likely with huge hangovers.
The site is working so much better, a majority of the initial problems I was having with it have been resolved and I know it's going to get better. Thanks Tricia!
I like the layout of the new site. However, when the site switched over, Podcasts stopped working. I deleted the link out of iTunes and tried to renew it using the link on the site: pcast://feeds.evilangel.com/evilangel but this is not recognized by iTunes. Tried changing it to http://feeds.evilangel.com/evilangel and http://feeds.evilangel.com/podcast and http://www.evilangel.com/podcast, but nothing seemed to work. iTunes says that none of these appear to be valid Podcast URL's! HELP?
I very rarely visit the site now, I just can't stand it. It seriously does my head in. Tricia it may be an idea to check your stats to see if visits have dropped!
^Must admit I used to visit the site a lot more than I do at the moment, to watch trailers ect. Half of the fun was pausing at various stages and trying to work out which performers were featured in a specific title before the cast list was up, which is difficult now as it's necessary to move the cursor on and of the video to even get the pause icon to come up. Is there any way I can change this? With regards to the debate of people just visiting the site to view trailers and not paying for the actual product, personally I'd like to say I've bought every Jay Sin release ever made for EA and have done so, amongst other things, because of the fact that the trailers allowed me to clearly see what I was buying before spending money on a movie that could be sub par.
Hi, I´m glad another site has changed back to "downloadeable" trailers [url=380495]) anyway i´m glad they did :) regarding Jay Sin ... his movies are "automatic buy" in my case anyway but a trailer is always nice Cube Edited by - cubesnake on 1/24/2009 11:58:46 AM

Tricia I think the one thing I miss most about the old site, even after all this time is not being able to tell at a glance what future or even sometimes current releases have a working trailer. It is kinda time consuming to click through to the same movies page over and over to still discover no trailer. You have movies with no boxcover shot but a trailer and more with a boxcover shot and NO trailer. Edited by - liloleme on 2/12/2009 2:38:22 PM
