I'm working on alternatives for supporting screenshots in reviews. We aren't going to be providing the webspace to reviewers in this fashion for much longer. It's an unfortunate source of too many headaches.

I see that Renee's avatar is a bit messed up right now; that would also explain some of the weirdness concerning other members' avatars.

I wasn't clear when I explained the problem. 1000 is not the limit for the number of people browsing the site. It's the maximum number of connections the site will accept before it starts denying new connections. It's currently at 792 connections. When it eaches 1000 it will start denying new connections.

The problem is that there are people using programs that automatically parse the HTML of a page, determine the filenames and directory paths of the .jpg files, and then fetch the .jpgs. These programs do this extremely fast potentially consuming huge amounts of bandwidth and server resources. These programs (i.e. 1 person) can create 10s or 100s of simultaneous connections to a webserver while trying to satiate their lust for free porn.

Also, the server is configured to tell your browser to cache any pages or images that it fetches for 5 days. It's very probable that your avatar is being served from your local system cache and not from the server.

Please understand that this is not some trivial type of problem to address. but I am working on it. (I have been for the past two days almost non-stop.) It's a fundamental problem with the type of webserver that we're running. it has the potential to be detrimental to our business.

Next, clearing cache will not help. All it will do is make you fetch a new copy of the avatar from ADT, and thus create a new connection to the server that already has load problems.

There is nothing you can do to solve the problem. Still, you can always switch to a better software, and then import your bookmarks from there. Email me if you'd like some help wit this

Windows menu ("Start") > Settings > Control Panels > Internet Options > Delete Files (make sure the "Delete Offline Content" button is checked)

Sorry, I have an iBook at home some I'm doing this from memory. Note that this will fix the bunny avatar problem, but not the fundamental problem with Drew's server technology.

As mentioned above, you might consider trying a better browser, like Mozila Firefox; MSIE is strictly skankware.

To clear your cache, I'm pretty sure that all you have to do it click "Tools", "Internet Options". In the "General" tab, you will see "Temporary Internet Files", within that box you will see a "Delete Files" button. That should clear your cache.

However, clearing your cache won't help you with this. The problem has to do with too many people (or programs) attempting to read the image files at once and Drew having to shut other people (or programs) out in effort to keep everything else running. If you're one of those people who can't get to the image files, the only way that you will see the image is if it is in your cache.

Think of it like a bar with a maximum capacity of 100 people. Once there are 100 people in the bar, the bouncer stops letting other people into the bar. When people leave the bar, he then lets others in. If you're one of the people outside, the only way that you're going to drink is if you brought your own bottle (that bottle is the cache).

Drew, I have another problem with pictures all together. I have been doing Lee O a favor by posting the third round of the pornstar poll. However, I have major problems with displaying the pictures. For some reason, a space get added between ".jpg" and "[ /img ] " each and every time I hit the post button. When I want to fix the problem by deleting the space, for some reason, it returns after hitting the Post Changes button. I can't make that space go away, which fucks up the pictures. I have tried different things, such as retyping the whole thing, but nothing seems to work.

I bet the image is being cached somewhere by an ISP in between us and your system. The images have been moved to a completely different server.
