Then last week, I can't hear anything out of the left channel when I listen to audio files. I can pull the jack half way out and get sound in both sides, but it's monaural with the left channel still missing. It works fine if I'm watching a DVD, that's what I can't explain. [Link] |

If the problem had been there when watching DVDs too, but not listening to CDs, I'd have checked out Windows's mixer control panel, since CD sound can be routed through another channel. But on most El-Cheapo sound cards, AFAIK, the DVD audio is sent through the same PCM (or WAV or whatever it's called in Windows) channel as audio files and game sounds. Have you tried a game? What about Windows's system sounds? If both are fine, it's almost certainly the balance settings of your media player. |
