I can't play any of the new discs I bough from these 2 companies. All the movies I bought are recent releases. My dvd player wont play them, it says "unable to read disc" or even freezes.
The disc look a little weird, this is gonna be hard to explain. It's like there are there are 2 different colurs on the discs. You know a dvd is silver, but here it's also whiter on some places. Does anyone know what I mean?

I've seen that before. The best way I can descibe it is that it looks kind of like when you pour cream into coffee and you see these cloudy white swirls. A few of my discs have these (some older Diabolic/Anabolic) but they still play fine.
I noticed this on Squirtwoman #2 as well, I rented it at one store and noticed the cloudy white swirl on it, it played fine. Then I bought it brand new still sealed from a different store, it also has the cloudy white swirl on it, it also plays fine.
I think the white stuff is the glue that was used to manufacture the disc.

There's another thread about this, here's the link. I've had the same problem too, but I never noticed the white swirl until now. So thanks for pointing it out. I'm hoping someone will address this soon, since I've never had to send anything back before.

Yeah it looks exactely like when you pour cream into coffee and you see these cloudy white swirls. Cool description by the way.
I suspect that is the reason why I can't play them. All the discs look like this.
It really sucks.

Is it a dual layer disc or some other format your DVD player can't play?

No I don't think it has to do with dual layered discs. I've never had problems with them before. I'm pretty sure it's the dvd's

A DVD9 (Dual Layer) disc has two polycarbonate platters that are glued together. It sounds like the layers weren't bonded entirely together. Its a manufacturing defect.

I hope its not them cutting corners again. Just like the Halo problem they may have switched to a cheaper alternative. I hate it when companies do this...if it aint broke don't fix it!

Yeah you're probably right LordClamFist, it's just really weird that it's on all of their latest dvd's. Weird that no one has noticed it, they should have some kind of control.
If they do cut corners sanchez_1960, then it really really sucks.

As much as I hated the halo problem, I don't think tht it was a matter of PXP doing things on the cheap. The company that they were (and probably still are) using was one of the more respected companies in the business.

Unfortunately, it took 6+ months for anyone to mention the problem to the authorer/encoder. Once they were told about it, the problem was fixed almost immediately.

Does anyone know if this is still a problem with RLD and PXP movies? I haven't bought one in a long time.
