| axlsfury Senior Member  1110 Posts 7/04 |  Posted - Mar 23 2008 : 10:00AMHello, I was hoping to get some help with an issue I'm having in regards to playing downloaded wmv files. I'm a member of the website spitswappers and they allow members to download wmv video clips. The trouble I am having is that some play no problem (i have windows media player 11) while others get really fucked up. What I mean is they'll start to play fine, but when I go to advance the clip, the sound and video become disconnected and often times the video never returns, but the audio does. Is there possibly something weird going on with your machine? As in have you attempted to play back other videos you have since trying to view the pay site ones and had similar problems. What I am trying to say is you should do some troubleshooting to see if the issue is with your computer (are you running a billion processes, do you have spyware, etc.) with your video player (try to figure out what program works the best consistently) or with the videos themselves (burn one onto a CD/DVD and try to view it on another machine if you have one available or if you have a standalone player that will read this type of file). Remember that there are tons of other video players out there. In addition to VLC and MPC I use Nero Showtime, BS Player and Total Video Player/Converter what doesn't look good on one sometimes works just fine on others. Bob: Glad to help. One of the reasons I really like MPC is that it has really good subtitle options. When you play most subbed files with it you get an extra task bar icon for something called FFshow which you can use to monkey with all sorts of settings. This is really handy for fan subbed anime that never ever gets properly released here. I ended up getting mad at windows media player when it would always demand to go online to look shit up no matter what I wanted to do. You can probably tell I am tired of MS programs making decisions without asking me. VLC is also really good for internet radio feeds. And skipping the annoying bits at the beginning of DVDs. [Link] |
