Good post Pete. I go back to the days of the nudies in the late 60's. Those actresses who were in the nudies did not cross over into the xxx hardcore by and large. Can count on two hands the crossover's I remember. For most there was a line they did not want to cross. For some women that hardcore line is small but others it is a huge huge line. Back in the late 60's there was more stigma but also the std's of the time but now with less stigma but more std including aids, the barrier has only moved slightly. We need a starter, someone semi-famous who will break that barrier and Paris Hilton was a small beginning but at least a beginning. Pantieless stars like Paris, Lyndsey, and Britney are a start also but we really need that semi-big starter. I had hoped the Academy Award given Halley Berry would encourage other actress to shed their clothes but no such luck. The treatment of Elizabeth Berkley's film "Showgirls" by critics was a travisty. They set back sex scenes in movies by 15 years. Now a lot of the critics who paned "Showgirl" now consider it a cult hit. They except it for what is really is, just a fun and sexy piece of entertainment. It was not "Gone With The Wind" but it was not meant to be "Gone With Wind".
"Showgirl" was meant also to propell Berkley to the Sharon Stone status with a Joe Esterhouse vehicle but something went terriblly wrong and it was not Berkley's fault but just the perfect storm.
