Searching through the archives this has had quite little attention on this forum.

What I wonder is how important your partners (present or prospective) pubic growth is to you? Does a full bush or a baldy really affect how much you get into things (mentally I mean) or can you take it or leave it?

I ask because about a month ago my girlie went from being a bald shaver (which we both love, anyway) to being a bald waxer (incredibly totally and utterly her own idea, although I was left to try and find her a place to do it). The impact this has had on our sex life is incredible and so this has set me thinking about how important such a thing is in my own psyche - and set me wondering how I would react if she said she wanted to grow a full bush again.

I don't want this to be just another 'to shave or not to shave' threads but rather to find out just how much of an issue this is with other people - I know for me the smoothness and baldness is more important than I ever realised.

Sir,

It makes very little difference to me.

Of course I grew up during a period when no one, not even pornstars, were bald down there.

I have always preferred a neatly trimmed or bald pubic area on my partners. I would even go so far as to say it is important to me, both mentally and physically, in the same way that general fitness and appearance are important. If the woman I am with doesn't feel it is important to keep herself neatly groomed, it reflects a general feeling that she doesn't care about her appearance.

My favorite is the total wax (something I happily paid for with my ex), but as long as the hair is neatly groomed, I am happy.

And, just so that nobody accuses me of a double standard or sexism, I believe in being neatly groomed, myself. I want to present an image that I care about my appearance, too. My ex-wife started me on grooming by doing it for me (that was fun), and I have kept it up since the split. At least I have that one thing in common with the male porn stars.

I would be interested in how the fairer sex feels about this, too. Women, is a man's grooming in the nether regions important to you?

Have a great week!!
Always, HoldenMagroin

This is really interesting... I never realized that so many "real life" people shaved or trimed their pubic hair. I've never done it... never been asked to... it's never come up. I mentioned it once to my wife, but when she went to do it, I had this really strong reaction that I was wrong to ask her. Meaning that I felt like maybe my reason for asking originated with my preference to see shaved women in porn. I was very apologetic--and ashamed of myself in a way. She told me that all that was, of course, silly, but as soon as she trimmed her hair that once, I've never asked her again--and even encouraged her not to. I don't ever want her to think that she needs to do that for me to enjoy having sex with her.

On the other hand... having read posts in this and other threads in the past... I'm coming to the realization that maybe it's not such a big deal. I'll bet it would feel really good if we both shaved. ::shrug:: I don't know. Just one of my silly crazy-head hangups I guess.

As I'm sure you asked her nicely, Mike, I'm sure it was her pleasure to do so. I mean that in more ways than one. Oral (him to her) is much nicer this way IME for both partners. For her to him, I don't know from experience if bald would be an enhancement. But it'd be my guess that it wouldn't matter much from a practical standpoint.

I would think mutual shaving might alleviate that scratchy initial insertion problem... but on the other hand, it might also be scratchy (itchy/scratchy I mena) in other ways, and might cause friction problems when you start sweating....

Not to be ... just completely over the top specific here. :)

I think, in 20-odd years of sexual encounters and one long-term relationship, the percentage of fully shaved or partially shaved (as opposed to merely trimmed down) pussies I've seen up-close-and-personal is about 10%. And the percentage of full-on bushes is about 60-70%. I really don't care. But I probably prefer whatever nature gives a girl. (Well, not to the extent that nature provides for the casts of those Rodney Moore videos!). The totally bald thing looks great in strip clubs, and there is a perverse kick to actually watching your cock go up and down inside one, but let's face it: Most sex goes on in the dark, not like it does in the glaring light of a porn set. And there's something primal and comforting about a smooth curly pelt.

For the strategically hairless, I'd say skin irritation from friction with the partner (hairy or not) would not be an issue. It's either having her tender parts covered 24/7 by your own hair--which can in itself be itchy, scratchy and sweaty in a bad way-- or blanketed for several fantastic minutes by someone else's.

Personally, I like the latter far better, not only sex-wise but grooming-wise, too. Ever see those hotel guests around the pool, oblivious to the crotch curlies sneaking out their swimsuits? I feel great relief in knowing pre-emptively that I will not be among them. Maintenance is largely hassle-free (stay away from Nair, Neet, etc.), but it does need doing at least every other day to prevent itchy and scratchy stubble.

For my own personal grooming, I don't shave, but I do use hair clippers to keep my pubes and chest (etc) in a neat and orderly manner. I never used to bother but I feel rather unkempt nowadays if it all starts getting too long.

MLyons:
Shaving can be very scratchy and I would say that, the visual aspect aside, you only get one good day of smoothness. Just like mens faces, some can shave every day so it's no problem but others come out in a rather ugly rash.
If you ever ask her to shave again you should ask if you can be the barber! A very erotic experience (unless you suffer from hand tremors). I've had my gf repay the compliment, on occasion, and then we've baby-oiled each other up which feels incredible in a position such as missionary where your pubic bones are in contact with one another.

Oh, hey, that was me. But I wasn't oblivious, and they weren't sneaking. They live there. It's not a secret. I guess I don't 'get' the discomfort about it.

Being of lebanese descent there is just not a question about whether I will or won't groom. If I didn't I would soon look like some sort of ape-person. I don't have a pubic patch, I have hair that starts at my navel and ends on my ankles, actually, it doesn't even end at my ankles, my feet are furry, too. I've had electrolysis, I wax, I pluck, I shave, I trim - everywhere. I'm fairly certain I want to have laser hair removal (but I'm afraid of getting burned). I don't care if it's natural or not - it's uncomfortable. My pubic hair grows inward towards my clit, and it's not soft and silky (and never was) it's coarse and it feels like sitting on barbed wire (or at least I imagine sitting on barbed wire is at least that uncomfortable) - I started shaving it away when I was 14 and came across the idea that I COULD shave it away.
As for how I feel about it on other people - I prefer not to have a faceful of hair when I'm intimate with someone's genitals. Whether that means a discreet trim or a complete removal doesn't matter. I don't really like men or women to be completely bald, though. I want the men and women I have sex with to look like MEN and WOMEN, not boys and girls. I like thinking that my partner has put some effort into preparing themselves for my enjoyment, too.

Kimi,
I've read this line several times before on the net. It always gets the same response which I have yet to see rebuffed. Why trot out this pedo line with regard to pubic hair but not similarly include hair everywhere else? Grown women have hairy armpits, and if anything makes me look like a boy it is my closely shaved face.

To me, a little patch of pubic hair looks wholly incongruous, like it's been stuck on as an afterthought. It seems strange to spend time and effort removing hair from all around and then leave a little tuft, like some kind of preserved relic of what once was.
Maybe you girls should do the same with your armpits: leave half a square inch of hair in each pit just in case anyone should mistake you for a child.

Anyway Kimi, my main purpose for replying was to give you an info source I thought you may find interesting (if you haven't come across it already). The site is www.consumerbeware.com and it features many excellent articles on laser removal and some really useful forums. It seems that laser removal success is quite dependant on the type of laser the clinic uses so the stuff here is well worth reading.

I do have more reservations about being uninhibited with someone who's overly hairy.

However, I prefer trimmed to completely bald.

MLyons, I WOULDN'T recommend shaving. It's a PIA to keep up on a constant basis.

I don't think I'd go so far as to shave... but hey. I might start trimming just to see if it makes either of us happy. :)

Most men I know don't shave their underarms, legs, chests or other body areas. I honestly don't mind if a woman doesn't shave her underarms or legs, either. Pubic hair should be managed, though, just like any other grooming - most men don't let their beards grow until they look like something out of a ZZ Top video. If you have nose hair, ya trim it. You style the hair on your head. Whatever - if shaving it off makes you happy, you do that. I don't like seeing completely hairless genitals, it's my preference.
I am also uncomfortable with some body types that don't appear "mature" - that's ME, so what. I want to feel like my sexual partner is an adult person, in every way. Anything that makes me feel otherwise raises my discomfort level - too many factors and I'm just not going to have sex with that person, no matter what their actual age is. That applies to their mental state, emotional state, and physical state.
And now I'm guilty of derailing this topic...

Neatly shaven or waxed definitely. Acceptable is also some bush left, but little.
This actually is one serious problem I have with our Russian escort girls (and girls I meet in bars). Too many are still not thinking much about intim ehair style. I have my frequent favorite bookings and they are ok, but I want to try new girls, too. To spice my sex-life up. Hair than is not the spice I want.

Luckily the younger generation of (escort)girls is getting slightly more fashion-minded. Dont expect too much in province, though!

Fair warning, if she does grow her hair back after a long period of shaving and or waxing it will be much sparser.

I shaved completely one time for kicks to see what it would be like but since my hair has never been as thick as it was before. Not that that's a bad thing, I rather like it light and fluffy.

My personal preference is for bald, I love the look and especially the feel, but if you shave the growout and the upkeep are huge and I can't quite convince myself to wax there.

I would like to say how enjoyable i find your comments. Your lifestyle is pretty different to mine but I admire the open way in which you go about obtaining sexual satisfaction in the same way you would anything else. You seem very bold, so do you always ask an escort about her pubic hair before booking?

Lunacy

My bit about 'how would I react' fails to mention the fact that I have in, in the past, asked her to grow her hair a bit just for a change. The funny thing is, although when we met I first asked her to shave, now the situation is reversed and so when she grows a bit back every time I see her the patch gets smaller and smaller until there is nothing left again
I'm hoping she never shaves again and sticks with waxing - the smoothness is driving me crazy I admire her courage though: I walked with her to the salon, gave her a kiss, and then sort of ran off - I was nervous enough and it wasn't me having to lie there with my legs spread having my pubes ripped out!!!

Dear Sir Noel,
I never thought of myself being bold. I think sexual service is like any other service you can buy. And anybody needs money to life, so some sell their body, some their workforce and some their mind. Non is better. What is different maybe is that capitalism was introduced here very fast and has sometimes very brutal face. This however, does not stop me from trying to pay a fair fare for a fair service.
Now, of course before booking an escort I do ask about price and services included. Lots of escort girls actually do anal and dp here for some extra money. And of course, I do ask them wheter they are shaven or not. Problem is some do not even understand question or do lie about.

I am very attracted to women who have full bushes (and armpit hair for that matter,) but from personal experience it makes a huge difference in that it gets in the way. When I am really trimmed up and prepped, I know its easier for women to go down on me. Likewise for me going down on women, I can get to all the areas so much easier. Its easy to run my tongue down the labia, and I can camp out and really put my time in going down on a woman if she is hairless. Especially if she puts the time in to extend the hairless area to the the booty hole. Its not the visual so much as it can let me 'appreciate' the vagina that much easier physically. I mean, some pussies (from personal experience) can get so hairy that you have to lift a bunny tail to get to the goodies. Thats just making it harder on a brother. I shave my ass to my peni regularly as it increases my sensitivity and I know from there comments that I am making a good choice to shave. They have a easier time going down on me without having to deal with a patch of forest. And also its easier to get the rimjob (cheers from the raincoater crowd, we still are here baby!)

I even trim my chest hair (but would never shave it as it makes me look ridiculous.) It gets really long and I like to keep it to about a level 2 on my maverick electro shaver. I have come to realize that their is nothing wrong with primping a lil. And I trim my arm pit hair also, its very hot where I live (tempe, az) and in 115 degree weather, the less hair the better. No matter where it is.
Luckily, women out here seem to have shaved genital areas more than not.

Maybe I should say that it probably affects my answer that I am a redhead with fine, sparse body hair, invisible on my arms, not prominent on my legs, and (in direct contradiction to things I have read that say that everyone has hair there) no discernable hair around my anus.

I have seen some bushes in old porn that probably would make me fetch a razor.

I can't imagine my husband shaving - his level of body hair seems perfect, his pubic hair is just perfect in density and springiness and everything. I don't think that there is anying that would make it any easier or more pleasant to go down on him than it already is.

I know waxing hurts from personal experience. It hurts pretty bad. But it is much smoother than shaving and the hair grows back thinner and sparser. The lady that I go to does all the Playboy Playmates and even Pamela Anderson. She is very good, in that she does it quick and talks to you while she does it so your mind isn't focused on the pain.
