Obviously some of the guys in the videos weren't born naturally with a 12 incher. The way the movies show it, it's like everyone got a 12 incher but me.
So are they using a pump? Do those things work?

Nah, they just use good lens on the cameras. If you want to compare a dick then concentrate on the size of the hands/palms. If that fails then seek help.
Porn stars don't have "12-inchers." Many porn stars are larger than average, some of them even much larger than average; however, 8 or 9 inches looks huge (and is) on the frame of a normal man -- especially with some judicious trimming of pubic hair. In all of porndom, straight and gay together, I'd be surprised if there are a dozen who genuinely have cocks longer than 10 inches. (Even John Holmes didn't have the 13-incher for which he is famed. His was more like 10-inches -- still huge. I know as fact because I saw his live and very hard at a strip show he put on at a gay theater in Washington DC many years ago).
Pumps are NOT safe toys. Regardless, they can do nothing to enhance length. They do enhance thickness by causing blood to leak into surrounding tissue from the two corpus cavernosi and the corpus spongiosum -- the three constructs responsible for erection. In some cases those leaks become permanent: no more erections! In other cases, scar tissue forms, resulting in severely deformed erections. If you want to take your chances, go right ahead.
A "normal" cock is almost six inches long (plus or minus half an inch) when measured "flat" along its top surface. You pretty much are stuck with what your genetics dictate. It is possible that surgery could augment what you inherited from your parents; however, there are often complications including scarring and a host of other problems.

Now I'm not a doctor (not yet) but I have heard that the hands thing isn't accurate. I know for a fact that my unit is larger than what my hands suggests so just thought I would comment.
