Noticed something funny when I browsed a small DVD/video store tonight in the Lower East Side. A lot of the titles were Canadian versions of the titles (Evil Angel, Hustler .... for sure, maybe others). I recall seeing on a thread about Valentine Video, being the Canadian license holder for some US companies, and putting out second-rate DVDs with scenes missing and no extras, etc., so I'm really glad I looked at the fine print and saw the name on the DVD cover.

But why would these be sold in an American store? Is this some kind of bootlegging deal? I'm sure I've bought a bootleg without realizing it on occasion, but it struck me as odd that they wouldn't have good ol' American-made product.

Pornmaster Mike, you got any ideas about this?

sorry, i have no idea why they would be selling Valentine Video releases in the US - doesn't make much sense to me...

They were regular price ... $24.95.
If I buy locally, I go to a place that sells 'em for $19.95/$17.95, and are U.S. versions.

Stay away from the Canadian version of these movies. They suck. Valentine has botched up many of my faavorite Evil Angel titles. Horrible transfer, massive editing and forget about any extras. I don't rent or but any movie that has Valentine on the boxcover and I won't until I get what I paid for.

And here I thought the biggest difference between the American and the Canadian version of porn movies was in the American ones the girls all say "Oooooooooh! Oooooooh!" and in the Canadian ones they're all dubbed to say "Aaaaaaye! Aaaaaaye!".

When I first got into this business and was buying product for a retail site my Vivid sales rep told me I should start sourcing his product from a distributor in Canada. He gave me his name and number and indicated that many studios sold products to this distributor at extremely low prices with the caveat that they were to only resell the inventory in Canada. The savings were passed on to the customers in some cases, especially of they were paying in U.S. dollars. Turns out that a lot of the inventory was coming right back to southern CA. I didn't use them for very long because they took forever to fulfill orders. We were getting the real deal though not some bastardized versions of the movies.

Yes we only carry the uncut, US versions of any DVD. The only Valentine Video DVD we carry is Traci, I Love You. The reason we carry this is because Valentine is the only North American distributor who owns the rights to this title. I'm pretty sure that it is not uncut anyway as it's Traci's only legal title.

But to answer your question - yes, we only carry uncut, US versions.

BTW - GoldenAgeFan - if your name is Mark - and you emailed me today about this, for some reason my email wouldnt recognize your address and I couldn't send you an email to let you know.
