As a straight man who watches a lot of porn, I found recently that the male actor in the video is as important for me as the girl. Even if I'm fantasizing about her, I can't get into the scene if the guy is not good looking. There are two reasons for this : -When I'm watching a scene and the camera suddenly shows the guy's face, it's an instant boner killer for me if the guy is ugly. I'm thinking about guys like [MOD: Read the forum etiquette]. -I like pretending that the scene I am watching is legit, actually happening, so when I see those gorgeous girls having sex with a fat or ugly guy, I just can't get into it. I know this should have nothing to do with the guy because my focus is on the girls, but I realized I was skipping lots of scenes with actresses I love because it was featuring an actor I find ugly. I'm not a guy, but from my perspective it's strange when people say they only focus on the girl, as if that's even possible. That seems like a lot of mental gymnastics, and for what exactly? To me, it seems perfectly normal that any viewer of any persuasion would care who is on screen.
The benefit is you are able to enjoy porn scenes which would otherwise be 'ruined' or unwatchable. I lack the ability to only focus on the girl. For me it is usually decisions/techniques of the director/camera or stupid/annoying acts by the male performer which makes scenes unenjoyable.

I prefer it when the camera focuses more on the female than on a male.If I feel like I am watching more of the male than the female than it is a turn off and kills the scene for me.Of course even if the focus is more on the girl and the male is seen not too often,it still matters how neutral he looks and if the male is too creepy-looking then it can still be difficult to get into a scene even if I like the female performer.Thats why POV is one of my favourite genres and on a consistent basis I don't feel like I am focusing too much on someone other than a female.I have heard that virtual reality porn is also about pov and immersion and male actors will become even less apparent in scenes in the future I can imagine.

For a believable performance it helps that the male is attractive and the woman looks like she is enjoying herself. I remember once watching a POV video and the fellow's face was caught in the mirror, the cock worship the woman performer was enacting became absurd once I knew how frankly trollish the fellow was in RL.
I don't really consider the males' physical characteristics at all (though for some reason I find long hair annoying) when viewing a scene - not even cock size. It's a guy's personality and what he actually does that's important to me. Though, I'd be more than happy if male faces were completely eradicated from porn and I don't mean solely through the use of POV; I mean via the careful use of camera angles so that porn can still be viewed in 'third person' but without the dude's gurning mug in shot. There are very, very few exceptions to this but I do enjoy watching Max Hardcore, Brandon Iron and Jean Yves LeCastel as much as I do the ladies, for the humour and nastiness they bring to their scenes in equal measure.

Men don't want to admit they watch the male performers because they somehow worry it is a gay thing (it isn't by the way). So, it's better to proclaim "I don't care about the guys and don't look at them!". I mean, the OP had to mention he was straight because he was concerned people would think he was gay for asking these questions.

Female performers make the scene - whereas male performers are a necessary evils to which end the best are those who are the least repellant and least intrusive as possibe. That means not gibber jabbering "oh god baby that feels so good" like an idiot stuck on repeat. The best male performers are fit with good bodies and who are very self constrained and undemonstrative - into which category i would put - peter north , eric everhard, rodney moore and brandon irons (brandon talks to the girls but he talks to them rather than gibbers at them like an idiot) Hetero guys just dont find other guys attractive - that aint because hetero guys are worried about being gay its because hetero guys dont find other guys attractive.

^^Heterosexual men may not regard the male talent as sexually attractive individuals, but that does not mean that they are not attracted to them in any way whatsoever. For example, they may be attracted to a man's performance style. Many of the guys here are attracted to Manuel in that sense.
^ Yep. Furthermore, there is a difference between simply being disinterested in a male performer and being outright disgusted and horrified by the sight of a male engaged in sex. The latter is the result of homophobic culture. Imagine if heterosexual women behaved that way when they saw a woman. It's silly.

Absurd that just because you're straight somehow you're not supposed to tell if a male performer is good looking or not. Porn is aesthetic and there's a significant amount of it is all about good looking people (note the plural) having sex. If one truly didn't care about the male performers they would watch only g/g or solo but of course those are the genres most often dismissed by the 'dudes don't matter' type. I think the looks of the male performer affects the type of scene it becomes and how a viewer might react to a scene. I usually prefer a good looking or decent looking guy. When it's a not too good looking guy with a pretty girl in my opinion the scene takes on a creepy or sleaze factor....which is sometimes the intent. I think there are some male performers who play up that angle. Would Max Hardcore's movies have the same affect if Max was a good looking guy? Dirty Harry (I think that's his name) plays up his dirty old man looks in a lot of the stuff he appears in. The porn actor who went to jail a few years ago (some call him the Pirate, can't remember his name) specifically played the "sleazy" "creepy" guy most of his stuff. I don't think any of those guys are outright ugly but their appearance have an affect or impact on what type of scene it becomes with their presence. The same is true with a truly ugly guy in the scene with a pretty girl. With an ugly guy in the scene we're almost forced to wonder if the girl really wants to be there, if she's desperate, if there's something wrong with her, if she has an ugly guy fetish, if she's being taken advantage of, etc.... From P.O.V of the person who likes that sort of thing it could be the viewer feels like it gives him hope he could be with her, the pretty girl has to lower herself and bang this ugly guy, the viewer might enjoy the creepy factor, etc...
