As an aside I am hoping my links will be better, and that even my writing will be better, because now I can use the websites spell checker, and even do a review before posting. I love the mini laptop, it is about 9 or 10 inches wide, and it allows me almost as much as freedom as a handheld phone, without lugging around a bigger laptop. However there are some compromises: Here's my question how much would a small external hard drive help me? Currently with this laptop I only have the microsoft "word pad" program to create personal notes, documents etc... I would really love to have access to "Word and Excel" as needed. I hoping that an external drive would be the needed band aid to remedy the problem. I already have the software and a legal download I am just hoping that it is simple as I think. If I get the external HD, can I in fact load it only on the external hard drive. In addition this mini pc does not even have a CD drive, everything would have to load from the external hard drive. I do not need it for any other storage, I don't keep movies or music on the system so that wouldn't be a reason for me to spend about $ 50 to $75, and without the use of 'word or excel' I wouldn't buy. They're pretty cheap now. I think I saw an 8 gig one for $30 not long ago. Or maybe you'd be better off with an external DVD drive? I want to thank you , Random and HeyNow for the information, and HeyNow I may download your link later on, but long story short my computer came with the Microsoft works software preloaded. I was just confused about the abilities, the Verizon folks told me the PC was just enough for inter and that Office was to much for it to run, so that is what I believed. But after starting the thread I decided to check out the Works program, and it will more than handle my needs. I also went ahead and purchased a Free Agent/ Go Portable Drive a couple of hours ago that will hold 320 GB, and plan on saving all of my documents with it, and I like that part. I carry my Mini to work with me and this way I can also compartmentalize and not need to risk taking some files to work. Thanks again [Link] |
