I am about four scenes into a movie that so far has only had women with obviously fake breasts. I am already having a bit of a dilemma about how to review the film. The issue is that I am severely turned off by fake looking boobs. So turned off in fact that my wife has even asked what the big deal is.
The issue with the review that I plan on writing in the next day or so is that fake boobs aside, the women are attractive, and the sex is pretty good. If I was to rate the quality of looks and sex, for me, they are probably no better than a 2, many 3 stars. However, if the women's breasts looked and moved more realistically, I would probably be rating things somewhere in the 4 - 4.5 star range.
At this point I plan to rate it according to my own preferences with something stating my own personal distaste for fake breasts but I would appreciate some feedback from other reviewers and how you have handled this type of situation. I don't necessarily mean fake boobs specifically, but seeing something that you know is more your own issue rather than something inherently wrong with the movie.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
*Disclaimer* I am not trying to tell any woman what she should or shouldn't do with her body! I am well aware of the fact and agree whole-heartedly that it is solely her decision.

You should be as honest in your review as you are in this post. I tend to voice a major turnoff when said turnoff occurs over and over in whatever I am reviewing. My pet peeve these days is the wretched hair coloring and dyes, which is an issue that again surfaces in something that I plan to review in a few minutes. And I plan to explain why that made a difference in this particular blow job title. Anyway, if something does not please you, chances are these same things will not please others---T0M

Your review. Your tastes. State them clearly and be as honest and fair as possible. I found that directors, most of them, don't mind criticism if it's grounded in something. Also, I've reviewed some genres that don't particularly wind my clock. In cases like that I always try to evaluate whether the video delivers for its core constituency. If it does that, then my grade goes higher than I might have given. Hard to deal with fake boobs if you feel it really ruins a woman's looks, but unless they're horrendous, I'm usually able to look past it and concentrate on the positives. Like I said, if it spoils it for you, act accordingly, and keep in mind that there will probably be other reviewers who aren't bothered that will balance off your opinion.

It's hard sometimes to objectively review a scene when personal preferences come into play. I try to focus on performance over aesthetics but if there's something that you have a major gripe with then it's your prerogative to state it. Differences of opinion are good and it's the reason that you'll find multiple reviews of the same title.

I rate things about how I feel about them, without qualifications. I.e. if I'm turned off by something that's highly subjective--I still rate it low.
I do try to make it clear in the review body why I feel a certain way, so that people know my biases and can adjust accordingly.
In your case, there's nothing wrong with saying "I hate fake boobs" as long it's clear in your review that it's the way you feel, as well as describing other aspects of the movie. That way people who feel differently know what to factor out.

Be honest, do it by how you feel about the movie, but also explain why you didn't like what you liked.

No review is objective, so as long as you make your readers understand where you are coming from, why you are going against the grain and how you think, then you are giving everyone the opportunity to view things through your eyes. If you're thinking about what we would like to hear, then you're not really telling us what you truly think.

I think you should abstain from reviewing any films that don't fit your taste in women or in porn genre. Because you will often end up giving poor ratings to such films for no good reason.
Different men have different tastes in women and in porn. There are men who like fake breasts. And you would do such men a disservice by giving poor ratings to a film that they would really enjoy watching.
It's the same kind of issue where a guy who doesn't like anal porn in general shouldn't be reviewing anal porn movies. And a guy who doesn't like obese women shouldn't be reviewing BBW porn movies.
A reviewer's opinion is only as good as is his competence to judge. And you can't be competent in judging something that you are obviously biased against.

^ Sometimes you don't know what you're getting until you've got it. Poor reviews based on personal tastes aren't going to sway people whose tastes differ significantly. I once did a review of a title I wasn't really into, but gave enough information that a poster here decided he'd probably like for some of the reasons I didn't. The only truly bad reviews are ones that only say "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" with nothing substantiating it. Was it the performance? Camera work? Locations? Following your reasoning, there would be nothing but glowing reviews for everything. Pollyanna porn.

Also sometimes you get something a little different out of curiousity.
Porn preferences are driven by strong feelings of lust. Lust is deep and animalistic, and can't be analyzed easily. It's hard to say, "I wanted to throw up, but I think other people will love this girl." Or "She made me cum ten times, but other guys won't be turned on."
Be honest about your personal preferences, and how much you liked it. I SOMETIMES will change a rating, just a bit, based on my perception of how "the average porn fan" might react. For instance, watching XOXO Joanna Angel was an orgasm-mararthon for me. I could easily have given it five-stars, but I downgraded it 1/2-star based on my guess about the "average porn fan's" preferences.
On the other extreme, I was disgusted by Hustler's cheap fraud with Obama is Nailin' Paylin, so I gave it zero-stars. You might love it, but there is no way for me know that.
If you plan on writing more reviews, people will start to know your tastes, and people with similar tastes will gravitate towards your reviews. If you give something a good rating when it actually turned you off, you will provide false information to those people.

Yes, giving a lot of objective information about the film allows the readers to judge for themselves whether they want to see this film or not.
But if you are going to express your personal opinions about the film too. Then you should restrict such opinions only to porn-genres and porn stars you like. Because if for example you like anal porn a lot. Then you probably have seen a lot more anal porn movies than any other kind. And you can tell the difference between a good anal porn movie and a bad one much better, than when you make a judgment like that about a lesbian movie or the kind of movie you don't normally watch.
It's not so much a matter of always giving positive reviews. As it is a matter of staying within your area of competence and experience.

I agree that including a lot of objective information is important. I usually write a bit on each scene, being sure to include all of the positions, and who performs in it.
Most porn involves a pretty standard set of sexual acts: Tease, BJ, fingering and/or cunnilingus, sex in a vaiety of positions including missionary, doggie, cowgirl and reverse cowgirl, sometimes some anal, some titfucking in a big boob feature, and a pop shot, usually on the girl's face. So this information isn't really that important.
Maybe the scene had some spooning or piledriver. Is this really what the reader is interested in?
(If the girl isn't really famous, I also include facts about her anatomy which can't be shown in a picture without violating ADT image policy. But even this desciption of physical reality is subjective, "Tinas's long graceful pussy lips resemble two butterfly wings.")
So the facts are pretty boring, and don't capture what matters to the viewer. You need to say things like, "Jenna Haze was incredibly hot, and she rode Evan's hard-on like the superstar feature-dancer she is." You need to be subjective. Admittedly, I go farther than others in this regard, and will say things like "Admiring Joanna's spread pussy while Steve pounded her hard in the ass made me shoot a massive load." But in doing so, I think I am speaking directly to what the reader wants to know: "Will it get me off?"
People watch porn to satisfy primal animalistic drives. Objective facts are important, but they don't speak to what the viewer really cares about.

A video review is interpreted differently by each person who reads it. When you write about something you don't like or enjoy, you not only make that point, but you also inform a reader who likes what you don't like.
You don't like fake tits and neither do I. By saying that, you have saved me the hassle of wasting money on something I don't like. On the other hand, someone who really gets off on fake tits may read your review and say "Yeah! That's exactly what I'm looking for!"
So, be honest with your reviews. Call it how you see it. That is what reviewing is all about. I'd be willing to bet that 95% of the people who actually take the time to read reviews will appreciate your honesty.

There have been some excellent replies to my question for which I am very grateful. I do plan on reviewing it exactly according to what I thought of the film. I guess my biggest issue should be what star rating to give it for those who choose to look at ratings only, instead of actually reading the reviews.
However, I realize that it would bother me to much to rate it any more or less than what I personally think the movie deserves. The review should be up in the next couple of days, and I will post here when it is available. Feedback at that time will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dan for your post. It forced me to think about my reasoning and allowed me to move forward with the review with a clear conscience.

For anyone interested, here is my review for [ invalid url ]
I did not have the energy to give it a scene by scene review, but I think I did an adequate job of providing enough info for the flick.

^ You know, 7 of the 16 girls in that flick have real boobs. So yeah there are a lot of fake tits, but it's not like the whole movie is fake tits.

^ Wow, thanks for checking killbill.
I will have to glance through the scenes again. This really shows just how unfairly biased I am.
It also shows that I haven't seen a porn flick with more fake than real in a very long time.
