Hi, I recently received an order from a European vendor and a piece of tape was wound around it stating, "Inspected by US Customs." When I opened it, I discovered that 2 DVD's and their covers had been confiscated, but the other 4 I'd ordered were there. I'm not worried about the 2 DVD's I lost (no big deal really), but I am worried that now there's going to be some sort of legal reprecussions. I didn't receive any sort of notice or anything like that and no men in dark suits and sunglasses have showed up at my door and the DVD's I ordered were not illegal so far as I know (just good old straight up porn), so I dunno. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This is the first I've heard of porn getting confiscated by U.S. Customs.

I think you can expect to get a folow-up letter from Customs explaining why they snagged the items.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still not sure about whether or not I'm in trouble for something. I'm guessing that if I were, they 1)wouldn't have sent the rest on 2)I'd already have found about my being in trouble. Still worried though.

Ok, all I really want is for somebody to tell me everything's OK. That's all. Somebody tell me everything's OK and that I'm not going to jail or something, please!

Everything's OK. You're not going to jail. It may be related to what's being declared versus what's in the package (rather than a porn bust.)

Or it may be they're checking for kiddie porn, the girls look young and so they kept the discs to investigate the certificates of compliance, the producer, etc. The government doesn't have time to go after individuals buying legal porn.

Whew! Wipe sweat, thanks! :)

And actually? False alarm apparently. I checked with the vendor and they checked their records and they think that the two DVD's missing from my order weren't seized by Customs, but actually had never been sent since they weren't in stock to begin with (I guess this would explain why I never received any sort of notice from Customs also).

Thanks again.
