How do you send story ideas and scripts to famous directors such as Micheal Ninn and Paul Thomas? Is it very difficult to succeed in plot writing in the adult business?

I have many ideas but I don't know how to send it to the right channels.

Thanks

This is definitely one of the most often asked questions on ADT, close to the question if Jenna has ever done anal.

The answer is: Nobody in porn will pay you for a script.

If you want to see your story on the screen you have to shoot it yourself.

Script writing is less important in porn than Hollywood. Saddly, the result is about the same (without the naked people having sex in Hollywood products).

Absoulutly not true. I know somebody that wrote a porn script, and it was made. Just have to know the right people.

common knowledge.
The answer was given over and over by industry insiders on ADT.
Reason is that already enough people within the industry write scripts that nobody is willing to pay an outsider.

An example how to become a writer is this: Stormy entered the industry as performer, then she had a relationship with Brad Armstrong (performer and director who writes his own scripts). She helped him developing his scripts, then she wrote her own scripts, then she directed, and now she is on the brink of becoming one of the most prolific writers/directors in porn.

I think they said that it is very difficult as an oustider to get a break. (To say nobody is willing to pay an outsider is like saying nobody is willing to pay an outsider for song lyrics) That is an absolute statment.

Your statement can be said for mainstream Hollywood writers. Screen writers in HOllywood should more consider filming and writing their movies because there is an overabundance of established writers in the mainstream movie industry as well.

The chances of breaking into the adult industry as a writer can be equal to the chances of any highschool football player breaking into the NFL. It is very competititive and very slim chance of success. I can't really dispute that..

Well, Juha someone just said the opposite. Thanks for your misinformation. Again just because it is hard to sell a script doesn't mean it is impossible.

Its pretty much impossible, no body is buying porn scrips...Budgets are too tight and scrips are really not that hard to come up with...

I think that if someone shot a scene or entire movie with your script, your compensation would be to see your imagination being brought to life, possibly by your favorite performers. If other viewers liked your story, that would be a bonus. But I don't imagine any studio would offer money for a script, and even to do your script for free they would make you sign away the movie rights to your story so that you couldn't sue for royalties later.
So basically I mean you could write a script specifically for your favorite performers so that you could see them addressing all of your own specific fetishes and turn-ons, and there would be a slim but still real chance that it would actually be filmed, if you disavow any hopes of profiting financially. But the script has next to no chance of being filmed if you see writing it as a second job instead of a fan's labor of love.

Edited to note that the first post that started this thread said nothing about selling, it just asked how to get ideas to directors. So maybe the thread starter will be okay with just seeing the script on film and not reaping any financial reward.

No one is buying scripts because they are shit. There are very few good script in porn much less stories. That is why I find it an easier market to get a script in. If you told me that it was impossible to get a script bought in HOllywood, I might agree but even there people with ruthless determination have done it.

I am sure people said Ninn, Thomas, Avolon's stories and themes are too whacky to be in a porn flick. Yet they are well known directors and writers.

My point is that anyting is possible and I am just not convinced selling a script in porn is equal or tougher than selling one in Hollywood.

I could see your point if my script was not a series and it was less than 100 words. But I have scripts that focus on an erotic personality and better yet an idea.
That implies the message that porn companies are slugs and do not want to pay people for their work. If I wrote a script and the company benefits from that script, why would you think every company would refuse to compensate me. My script and scenes gear toward creating a persona that has not been scene in adult. If you add all of his traits together, there is flatly no one out in the business doing this type of thing today. I am certain that I could convince a company that my work is sellable and I deserve compensation. I am not going to go into details about this in the forum, because I do not want to be accused of advertising.

Dear Mods,

The thread is concerns selling scripts to porn companies. My post do not indicate any idea of selling a script to a director. I am doing this by e-mail.
