Remember that thread I posted about Gauge, and you told me the clips are from "To Completion" #1? I was just wondering how these sites get permission to post clips from your movies online. How does that work? since I gather there's issues with copyright, etc.

Thanks. If my question was not clear enough just let me know and I will elaborate.

For example: How does this site (http://www.gbf-galleries.com/screw-gauge/index.html) get permission to post free clips from "To Completion" #1? Must they contact you first? I'm just curious. Especially since they don't credit the movie (by naming it, etc).

This question is actually for anyone who might know, not just for Jules Jordan. If anyone knows (in general) how the system works with these websites posting clips from movies, please explain. Thanks. I know it's a dumb question, but I'm curious.

For the most part, websites don't have permission. They are stealing content. When people subscribe to these types of sites, they are supporting piracy. This is the reason that JJ started using watermarks on his DVD's. The logic being that if the other sites were going to steal content, he would at least have his website on the picture.

Although I sympathize with this problem, I'm glad that the watermarking failed to work.

Stu, Most of this stuff has been pirated. Because you're new, you are probably unaware that JJ has expressed extreme displeasure with the situation. This post will probably not get a reply from him as you are, unintentionally, antagonizing him.

I would adivse that you take some xanax and chill. Post replies to other threads and give it a day or two and you will see the rest of the ADTers warm up to you. Don't be too overeager.

Peace...

Scooter

Stu -
Bill and Scooter are right.

Sites like that are using his clips without permission, therefore they are stealing them.

Thanks for explaining how it works, Bill. What exactly is "watermarks"?

On the flipside, that preview of Gauge was enough to make me order "To Completion" #1 on DVD. Can't wait.

you're correct, I was unaware that Jules has expressed extreme displeasure with the situation in the past, obviously (as you pointed out) because I'm new. I apologize to JJ for asking these questions now, & I had no intentions of pissing anyone off.

Thanks for the reply (and the advice).

Thanks, Tricia.

Is there any way to put a stop to these websites stealing clips? I know it would be almost impossible, but surely something can be done.

Watermarks are semi-transparent white logos superimposed on the picture, basically what many TV stations are superimposing on most of thier programming.

In the case of porn, the watermark usually consists of that companies website (which is much bigger than the logos that TV stations are using).

No one said it failed to work, in fact my clips on the internet have greatly decreased due to this and some other methods. The decline of piracy of my movies prompted the watermark change. Poor Red Light District made a deal with adultlegal.com and are now everywhere on the internet, prob cant tell who are pirates and who are licensed.

OK, then I'm glad that the watermarks worked so well that you felt that you no longer needed to have them on your movies to prevent future piracy. <<<<[[[[

Is this the correct forum to, yet again, deal about this?

In a valid discussion regarding the Internet piracy of Jules Jordan movies, it's an appropriate topic.

If it bores you, don't read it.

This is Star Crossed, is it not? Since when is it OK to discuss piracy related questions in Star Crossed? Here is the question that Disco Stu asked in the first post in this thread:
What does this have to do with "pornstar IDs, pornstar pics, pornstar discussion, talk with stars, weekly babes"?

Hey, "weekly babes"? I hadn't seen that yet. Thanks for the recognition.

It is true, I am easily bored.

Since when were you appointed moderator of the Star Crossed forum?

It was a question asked of a director/performer. Considering the topic, it could have been asked in either the main forum or Star Crossed and have been considered to be appropriate for either forum. There was no reason to move it.

99% of threads are moved when the original post is in the incorrect forum. The original post was made in an appropriate forum so that's where it stayed.

My original question was a direct one for Jules Jordan, so I posted it in this section because it says "talk with stars". It just so happens that the subject was piracy of videos, so it's only natural for the discussion to head that way.

After that it became a question for anyone who was willing to answer, so I can sorta understand Walter's concern. Although I don't know why it would bother him so much.

ADT is like that

There was a LOT of conversation on this topic awhile back and it went on ad nauseum, which may be why some people get strangely prickly about it. Me? The watermarks never bothered me, and I think producers should do what they can to limit piracy. Personally, while I enjoy some mpeg jollies on the Internet, the quality and small size of the images doesn't do a whole lot to make me aroused enough to REALLY enjoy it. But I sometimes get a laugh, or a jolt, from watching a hot girl or some silliness.

Anyway, Stu -- post away, have fun!

Didn't mean to bump, but his email is blocked & I have no other way to contact him. Thought it would be the best way since he created the thread, he may have checked the notified by email box.
