I've purchased a couple of Red Light titles in the past, and learned that the company has recently produced a compilation title (Cum Dumpsters). Besides this compilation, the company has also focused in on particular genres (barely legal, natural, etc).

While this latest compilation isn't my particular taste (no pun intended), I have read a lot of positive reviews regarding Red Light performers recently, particularly Desert Rose, Taylor Rain, and Peaches. Personally, I don't want to spend my hard earned money to purchase an entire title that just features a single scene/performer that I'm interested in.

Vivid, while they may not produce great individual titles, has been wise enough to compile and market scenes featuring a single performer in their Deep Inside/Ultimate/Young series. It is also a good cross-selling strategy since they promote other girls they have under contract in a separate section of the dvd. Even Anabolic has produced a "Cum Sucking Whore" Series featuring Adriana Sage and Tricia Devereaux (sp).

I know that some of the above performers have only done two or three scenes for Red Light, but the great thing about Red Light is that we normally get extended 20 minute scenes with the ladies. I know that the company is young, and it may be difficult to fill out a two hour disc with one girl at present. This might also lend support to signing the girls to seven or eight scenes, thereby promoting both the girl and the company simultaneously.

So the question is: What is the likelihood that Red Light will produce compilations focusing on particular female performers in the near future or at all?

P.S. What does everyone else think of this idea? I heard Red Light likes a lot of feedback from its customers, so I'm sure any other opinions would be appreciated.

I don't like the idea. I hate compilations. Please don't give bad ideas to Red light, they are doing perfectly ok, releasing original titles every week. ...If you want compilations get some Private's, They have plenty. Besides since you like Vivid, I'm sure Private will do it for you.

I have to go along with Wally... I too hate compilations.

Especially if you've seen the majority of the films in their original state, before they put into a comp.

I'm not saying that all comps are bad, but they are also not great great.

I have to agree with big Mike and Wally, I want to keep Red Light District movies filled with young fresh girls,I'm going to stay away from making more comps, unless Jenna or Tara patrick want to do 5 or 6 D.P.s with Lexington steele and Sean Micheals for my company. It's about getting more for your money, It's my job to do that, the fans come first at Red Light District. David Lugar, Brandon, Joel Lawrence, Brian Pumper, and Mr. Pete are all on a plane to europe, hopefully they will bring back some good stuff.

The problem with written messages is that it is often difficult to interpret the tone. Was the above comment meant to come across in a snide manner? I honestly don't mean the following comment in a derogatory or insulting manner to you , but that felt like a cheap shot to me .

If you read my original comment, I said that Vivid did NOT produce great original titles. Their biggest advantage is giving the viewer the ability to bypass movies with bad acting and bad plot and watch a compilation with some of most beautiful contract girls in the business.

I'll admit the way they edit the compilations could be improved upon (since they cut out a lot of the foreplay leading up to the sex), but I would much rather purchase one copy of Deep Inside Tia Bella than six or seven movies of varying quality where she is featured in one or two scenes each.

I seriously doubt they're going to make the move to gonzo without costing you an arm and a leg. However, I believe Red Light is doing a good job of featuring a lot of "up and cumming" talent who could become really big in the near future. It's ironic that you mention Jenna and Tera since Adult DVD Empire (ADE) reviewer Spooky believes Peaches "could be the next Tera Patrick or Jenna Jameson of adult film if some studio was smart enough to sign this girl up and promote her correctly" based on her performance in Just Over Eighteen #3 and Breaking 'Em In #2.

Unfortunately, most girls sign onto doing rather mild or lukewarm scenes with a major production company right before they become superstars and viewers seek out their better, earlier performances. I think this is a great way to capitalize on the marketing efforts done by major studios with little cost to yourself. I think this could be the case with Desert Rose (aka Kody) now that she's apparently signed on with Vivid. It is the equivalent of releasing Teen Wolf right after Back to the Future!

To use an old cliche, variety is the spice of life. Some fans like watching the same scene or theme (anal, pov, internal) performed by a variety of girls, others like watching a variety of scenes/themes performed by the same girl. Red Light is very good at satisfying the former's needs, but I just think that you're underestimating the number of fans that fit in the latter category.

If you go to the Star Crossed forum, people are constantly asking about what are some great scenes featuring one particular actress or another. A couple of immediate examples come to mind: Taylor Hayes and Top 20 Lister Monica Sweetheart. In that forum, people are constantly clamouring for Taylor's harder core scenes with Seymore Butts to come to (a single) dvd. I think it's also just a matter of time also until Monica hits it really, really BIG. I'm sure that when she does, your competitor Ana/Diabolic will release an All Monica disc since she's done so many hot scenes with them. I'm willing to take any size bet that it is going to be a top 10 seller on Adult DVD Empire.

True dat! A lot of readers on this site trust the opinions of certain reviewers. I personally enjoy the articles posted by Houston Don of ADT and Roger T Pipe . Adult DVD Empire (ADE) also has some great writers in Diesel and Spooky. When they really enjoy a particular performer, they are constantly saying to go out and buy every single dvd featuring her. However, I don't think a lot of guys are going do that since they risk an unengaging theme, poor camera technique/film quality, lack of performer consistency, and ultimately cost.

Personally, I would love to see how Taylor Rain's attitude, method and actions change from Just Over 18 #3 to Straight to the A #2 to (fingers crossed !) Seven the Hard Way without (a) spending $20 to $30 to buy each disc (b) buying a multi-disc player or (c) constantly changing discs to watch them back-to-back .

If you include the scene in its ENTIRETY including the interview segments (Vivid's weakness), I think you're looking at a potential blockbuster! Also, I am really looking forward to Taylor in Cum Drippers #3 and would absolutely love an advance look !

I just think that you're missing out on an opportunity here, but looks like I've been outvoted three to one. More importantly by the one vote - Dion - that really matters. I guess I'll have to respect the decision, but I really think you should further investigate the potential further by reading some of the comments in the Star Crossed forum as well as Diesel's Den 07.26.02 article on ADE.

Cheers!

Not traderhtc, I didn't mean it that way. All I was trying to do is to let you know about another porn company (Private) that makes a lot of compilations besides Vivid. ..the sex content is almost the same too.

I'm gonna push for comps again. I know that Evil Angel did a poll on this a few months ago, and I am asking you to re-consider. There are a lot of girls that you've filmed that have a strong fan following and this is a cost-effective method to reach out to them.

I've never been satisfied with every scene of a single Red Light title, but know I would be if you did a Desert Rose compilation. There are a lot of positive reviews of the four titles that she's done for you, and I would buy all of them but can't justify spending over $80 just for 4 to 6 scenes.

Besides, it's a good way to capitalize on the marketing and promotion that Vivid is doing on Kody (aka Desert Rose) for free.

I would not pay full price for comps and so I avoid EA and Anabolic's comps like the plague. Metro, Zane, Vivid, and others often release lots of cheap comps. I do buy some of those for very specific scenes, but these comps are priced less than half of a new release. Too many comps can spoil a company's reputation so Dion has to be very careful not to overdo the release of comps. The only way EA and Anabolic can charge full price for comps is they have very few comp releases. I would suggest to Dion that he should avoid releasing comps and instead build up the reputation of his company, which he is doing an excellent job I might add. Too many comps will give his company a bad reputation.

I'm not sure that comps can ruin a studio, if the comp is marked as such. But seeing is how I intend to own every release put out by RLD, even the ones I don't necessarily care for, there's no reason for me to buy a comp.

I think that Joey Silvera has three comps out, which is a good number, seeing is how he has over 85 releases on VHS, and 37 releases on DVD. I won't buy a comp of Joey's because I intend to own all of his releases, too.

So comps can be good for newbies and those who like a certain star, but if a studio releases solid DVDs, then comps just take up shelf space.

I'm not saying that all comps are bad, just that most consumers don't want a comp every certain number of releases.
