X Rent has always had a pre-release "Coming Soon" section, but I notice this week that they have added some those titles to the Categories/purchase section.

Does this mean that the Coming Soon titles in the purchase section will be available within days as oppossed to a release date weeks away in the regular pre-release section?

Thank you

Ooops! Never mind. I just noticed that you added an "expected" release date for those titles.

Glad to see you discovered some of the changes we made to XRentDVD. Depending on how you sort the page will determine the order the “coming soon” titles will be displayed.

XRentDVD has also added a feature that will allow you to view all the titles in a series. For example, if you are browsing a title that is part 6 of a series, you can now view all the titles in that same series by clicking a link at the bottom of the product page.

Check out the XRentDVD News Page for more info on these two new features that were just added.

On a related note, my pet peeve with X-Rent is that they post their new releases so late in the day. It varies by day...sometimes they are up by 5:30 central time, sometimes 6:30, sometimes even later. Why post new releases so late when the cutoff for shipping that day is 8pm (central time)? Why not just allow customers to order new releases earlier in the day, even if they are not officially ready to ship earlier in the day?

The other reason for this would be locking in used titles. I often find used titles I want to purchase but also want to combine with a new release that's coming out later in the day. By the time the new DVD is officially for sale, the used DVD I wanted to order has already been sold. Allowing people to order new releases earlier in the day would help with this problem too.

My pet peeve with X Rent is that they some times don't post all the new releases for that day at the same time.

We have recently revamped and changed our website with a number of improvements. One of those improvements was doing away with the “coming soon” page and have incorporated those soon to be released titles into the rest of the website. For example, if you are interested in finding out the newest anal titles, all you need to do is go to the anal category and the coming soon titles are listed there. You can sort the page by newest and the ones we expect to receive soon will all be listed at the top of the page. If you know the name of the title you can sort by alpha and find it that way.

Finding titles that are soon to be released is not limited to the category either. You can see the titles coming soon either by performer, director, studio, series, etc. We believe this is a much better way to service the adult DVD customer. Before the coming soon section was listed alphabetically and unless you knew exactly the title you were looking for, it was very difficult to locate. Now if you have a favorite actress or director you can see the titles that are coming soon with a simple sort. We hope this provides you and others with a much easier way to see what titles will be added to XRentDVD soon.

Big Dave,

I'm very disappointed in this new change.

I'd greatly APPRECIATE it if you, in some way or another, made it possible to see ALL upcoming titles (all genres) as before.

I relied greatly on access to that section, it was great to see what will be added to my queue in a couple weeks (A big advantage over my OTHER memberships with BushDVD & SugarDVD)

Thanks in advance!

How about something that would work even better? Since it is unlikely that you enjoy all categories on our site, you could use a saved search to show what you are really interested in. Click on Advanced Search, select all the categories that interest you, save it so you can use it again later, and then sort by newest. You will get a list of titles very similar to the obsolete coming soon page.

Also, since you are looking to put them on your queue, you might consider clicking the checkbox for email notification. Then we will automatically notify you as new products are released and can be put on your queue.

Hope this helps.

Judging the search and browsing tools of other retailers, I have no complaints at all the way XRent does it. Just my opinion.

Actually...I'm into practically all categories found on XrentDVD.

I went ahead & attempted to do what u suggested & still found it rather arduous...Specifically, the search results still had far too many already released titles mixed in. After filtering by date added, it was somewhat navigationally friendly.

2 questions.

#1. By filtering by date added, are the "coming soon" (not yet released) titles in order by their expected release date or date added to Xrentdvd?

#2. At the top of my search results, the following appears
"Your search returned more than 1000 results. The first 1000 are shown." ...What does this mean? The "first 1000"?...

Thanks again.

In this case you would want to select "Excluding These Categories" on the category list and only check off those you were not interest in.
You would NOT want to check the box marked "Only show items added to the website in the last," as this would limit your search to items that have actually arrived rather than coming soon titles.

Simply sort by Newest and all the coming soon titles will come to the front of the list. Expected date and added date are the same value. Date added is the day we made the title available for ordering (usually the street date).

It is the first 1000 titles based on your filter and sort.

Happy hunting!
