I've noticed a lot of other Euro sites have started doing this, too. Once you pay for the membership and DL the HDWMV's (what format the 1080p's are in) how do you burn them and watch them? (Dumb question, I know, but I'm wondering if HD is any diff than normal definition in that regard). I know you can hook up your laptop or comp to your tv with a HDMI cable, but I have a PS3 so would I just need to burn the HD files on a disk with like Toast (I'm on a Mac) or something equivalent and just pop the disc in the PS3? Will it recognize the burned disk and HD vids? Notice that I'm going about this legally...not stealing them or anything. I'm just curious because a LOT of euro sites are offering full HD vids that you can download and own and it'd be nice to watch them on a bigger screen than my 20" computer monitor. Hopefully this thread wasn't breaking any forum rules or anything since I'm talking about buying the clips from the site and then burning them. Thanks for any info. [Link] |

If they say you can do it, it's possible the thing is just set up to work naturally. But with computers, the simplest solution is usually the wrong one. |

| ChodeMasterJ Perpetual Marxist 5405 Posts 4/03 | it just ocurred to me that the HD vids off of Sperm Swap and other website is in 1080p. If I burned those onto a disc and popped em in the PS3 connected to a 720p tv, would that pose any problems in viewing them? like would it scale it down any and make it lower quality or how would that work? thanks. |

ChodeMasterJ: Make sure you use the HDMI cable for the PS3. If you use any of the other available cables I believe the PS3 scales it down to 480i. However, doesn't the PS3 have internet access. Mine isn't hooked up to the router at the time but I believe that it does at which point couldn't you just download the files straight to the PS3 harddrive and skip the whole burning process? |

It's connected to my wireless network via my Apple-brand router (Airport Extreme, I believe...the one that's like $200). I don't know enough about PS3's to know how to DL from the net. :) I'll just use it to play GTA4 sometimes. haha. and watch dvds, of course. it's only a 40GB, too, which isn't a lot of room for a lot of HD stuff. |
| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | What is true is that no DVD player that upconverts regular DVD's (including all Blu-ray players) to a resolution greater than 480p can do so without HDMI or DVI with HDCP. So, while you can watch Blu-ray discs in 1080i via component, you can't watch standard DVD in 1080i via component. The only exception to this rule is with some of the Oppo upconverting DVD players. There is unauthorized firmware available that will allow some of these players to upconvert via component. |
