If there was a conscious descision to no longer carry these types of movies I suspect it's based on their desire to not get dragged into court in some bible belt state defending themselves against a charge of obscenity.

Some retailers make a living selling stuff other sites simply won't carry or shipping orders to areas where porn is simply illegal. Adult DVD Empire doesn't fall into that category.

DVD Empire, in very short order, went from being my first online source for interesting material to my last. I looked at four sites today that dwarfed the Pennsylvania firm's selection.

As far as certain population segments that would seek to limit other people's rights to be able to view adult material, are there any advocacy groups that work on behalf of civil liberties when it comes to porn?

What I can't see is how this limits our selection by as much as you claim. We still offer well over 11,000 titles (11,464 as of 8/23) - with as many as 50 added each day. I am very hard pressed to believe that you will find any sites that "dwarf" our selection as we offer over 99% of every adult DVD title available.

So Cygnus5 I do understand your frustration. But please don't misguide it towards us. I suggest you take YogaGrrl's advice and contact the Free Speech Coalition to see how you can help our sexually repressed laws. I read his subsequent comments regarding selection as selection related to peeing videos (not total selection at your site).

However, I also think that his comments that appeared to imply that DVD Empire is infringing on his civil liberties because you choose not to carry peeing DVD's as somewhat silly (but maybe I am misreading what he was trying to say).

As for Empire's vast selection, too bad. There's nothing remaining of interest to me. My personal-enjoyment experiences with porn are limited solely to that genre; my greater interest, however, stems from an advocacy view: We should be able to see what we want.

Why, may I ask, is there a greater concern about potential court cases when it comes to this specific genre? How is it any more "obscene" than just about anything else that is called "porn"?

(Quite frankly, standard-issue penetrative, male/female porn leaves me cold. That's just me. I'd rather be participating in a sexual tryst rather than watching a video of others having sex.)

However, the genre in question turns me on for reasons beyond my explaining. It just does. And I'll turn to whichever vendor offers it.

With that in mind, I am now using a variety of online retailers when, earlier, I looked to Empire almost as a one-stop shop. The other retailers now included Adult DVD Now, Jaded Video, DVD Exotic, and a couple of others. If an Adult DVD Talk member would kindly suggest other good sites, then please feel free to do so (I would welcome it).

And, surprise: I don't go to B&M vendors. But are there any in the Los Angeles area that offer these sorts of "specialty" titles?
