I liked "Watching Samantha" more than I like most Michael Raven movies, mainly because I think it was more focused, plot-wise. I'm going to choose to give the credit for that to Stormy, who wrote it.

Raven adds a lot, though. There are good horror-movie tracking shots, and sharp angles that visually suggest the character's underlying disorientation, and all that jazz.

I think of Stormy more as a comedic actress, and I think that's her wheelhouse, but she does a great job here in what I guess you would call a pyschological thriller. Not that she doesn't always look fabulous, but I think it's worth noting: She looks fabulous. I may have said this before, but that face could launch about 996 ships.

For me, the sex-scene highlight comes after Stormy discovers that her husband has had the house fitted with hidden cameras. So she deliberately and spitefully bangs Lee Stone, with some nice dirty looks to the eyes in the sky. Good stuff.

The ending is a little bit more twisty than necessary, but overall it's a pretty strong movie.

Curse Eternal is the prototypical Brad Armstrong big movie, with the usual Armstrong strengths: set dressing and actress dressing. The plot? Not his best work, but the whole thing is a good excuse to get Kaylani Lei into that Egyptian outfit, and that makes it worth it in my book.

Holy guacamole she's hot. She looks frickin' great in that getup. And she moves great, too... I loved the Bangles back in the day, but this is how you walk like a fucking Egyptian. There's tons of sweet, sweet eye candy.

Her lines are kind of stupid in that B-movie stilted way, other acting performances are kind of shitty, and some of the sex scenes are repetitive or superfluous to the plot, but overall I got enough out of the movie to like it.

One good thing: A couple of good cum-swapping finishes, done the right way -- with kissing, not spitting.

One bad thing: Honestly, it's just too goddamned long.

One stupid thing: jessica drake plays an archaeologist who returns to the tomb where her father died 20 years ago. She points out in the commentary how cool it was that her entrance echoes the one we saw by Randy Spears, except whereas he had a flaming torch, now she brings a flashlight. So... they didn't have flashlights in 1986? Help.

Normally it takes two or three evenings to watch a feature film.
But "Watching Samantha" I watched from beginning to end in one row without a break and without to skip.
IT'S GREAT!
Congratulations to Stormy and Michael Raven who are really a winning team.
While Michael Raven is a topnotch director who has a true understanding of the visual art of film, his films sometimes lack a good script.
Stormy is hands down the best writer in adult.
Every film buff should own "Watching Samantha".

I was really looking forward to Curse Eternal, mostly because I'm a big Kaylani Lei fan, but I was surprised that I found the movie really flat and boring. Maybe Kaylani should be taken in small doses.
