Hi all,
I've been a member of this site for a few years now and this question has been bothering me the entire time. What in blazes is meant by the "Raincoat Factor" I see in many reviews?

I usually see them in astroknight's reviews. Thanks for helping out with what is most likely a pretty simple answer.

I'll take a stab at an answer...

"Raincoaters" is an old term referring to the good old days of porno theaters. Guys would attend the theatres in long raincoats that would cover up any obvious bulges, and, if they wanted to stroke during the movie, the raincoats would cover up anything they were doing.

So, based on this, I'd say that the "raincoat factor" refers either to how strokeworthy the porn is, or how much it makes one want to stroke.

Astronight may have another definition in mind, but this is how I interpret it.

My guess (& that it all it is as I don't think I've seen anything "official") is that it is a general measurement of how kinky/hardcore the film/scene is.

Way back in the days of the XXX theaters (back before VCRs/DVDs/the internet/heck almost before electricity ) there would be assorted patrons scattered about the place sitting well apart from each other (as opposed to a couple watching the movie together). Usually the rain/overcoat was worn inside as it was big enough to disguise what the guy was doing underneath the coat (the same thing that we can now do in the privacy of our own homes, ain't technology grand ?). Thus a high raincoat factor would mean either a well attended showing of the movie or that the raincoat was needed more that once during the show.

Hopefully though Astroknight will show up & throw his $0.02 in.

Dang, I'm going to have to link my reviews to a few of these threads!

Basically it's just a term I use to balance the amount of sex to non-sex scenes in a movie with a little weight to the stroke factor. Medium is for an average couples movie. If there's a lot of plot or if the sex is done so poorly that I think I should get a cup of coffee of some speed, then if goes down. If it's an all sex movie it should be high, and if it's something that's so hot that the neighbors feel the need to take their pants off not even knowing what's happening while I'm watching the movie, then it's extreme.

Thanks for the explanations everyone! This has been dogging me for a long time now. I feel much better.

I actually did a search in the forum but didn't find anything...really, I did.

Thanks again.

Summer and dry fine days must have been hell on the "raincoaters" of yesteryear...
