What a stupid thing to say. How on earth can watching a conventional porn movie be possibly linked to rape unless that person is unhinged from the start. Rape is a crime, a separate issue, totally detached from watching porn movies. I find that an insult to all the nice men and chicks who visit sites such as this and who watch porn. 99% of men and women who enjoy porn get fun out of it. Full stop. Period. Rump. Those of us here may be on the high end of the porn-viewing scale, but it's not as if the norm is NOT watching porn at all. Her point was, any woman who wants to imagine that her boyfriend, husband or co-worker has no interest in porn is fooling herself. However, I am willing to argue that men who ARE potential rapists may be influenced to act out on their impulses if they watch enough movies with rape themes in them. Seeing it happen onscreen enough could act as a kind of "enabling" device. In that sense, theoretically, there may be a bit of a point to it. But, again, the percentage of people to whom this would apply is so low as to be negligable. And it's not something that's a good reason for branding pornography as "evil" or "criminal". (Just as a guy with homicidal tendencies who's pushed over the line by exposure to working in a slaughter house, morgue, viewing thrillers / murder mysteries, etc., shouldn't be an argument for doing away with those things.)
