We all want to believe that she's in good health, but none of us want to think that she made this all up. So we don't know what is really going on, and we don't even know what we want to believe. In this complex web of ignorance and mixed-emotions, I put forth the possibility that the cancer may have caused some erratic behavior on her part. This allows me to believe what I want to believe: Namely that Raven will survive this, and that her claims that the cancer was very advanced and possibly terminal may not have been Raven speaking, but the tumor. |

However, the standard Vivid and DP gonzo stuff often just starts with the girl lying straight on the bed. From what I have seen on her Twitter and cam pics she still looks pretty ill to me. I can only gather that her initial diagnosis was not as serious as initially thought - although as stated above generally healthy living, positive thinking and alternative medicine can significantly extend a terminal patient's life (and certainly quality of life) if they avoid the heavy duty chemo treatment. |
| BYOB_Kenobi Senior Member “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” - Kierkegaard 2684 Posts 8/09 | Although Stage IV brain cancer is often deadly, they have come out with some chemotherapeutic and other medical/surgical anti-cancer advancements. I've seen these newer treatments (and even older treatments) work resulting in remissions first hand in reading-charts/reports and MRIs. It's still extremely grave, but not improbable. One red flag is the ex-boyfriend as the source of this assertion. It's gonna take me a lot more than a vindictive ex as evidence. That beings said, it's disturbing of the increasing # of cases of "patients" fraudulently ripping off generous people and orgs. Unfortunately, donors have to be somewhat careful. THe most important thing is that she is as healthy as she can be and hopefully is in remission or doesn't have cancer. |

| DanaDeArmond Porn Unicorn TheInternetsGirlfriend.com 2786 Posts 1/06 | i hope the best for everyone. from my minimal interaction with raven she seemed very sweet, so that is how i will think of her. the bottom line is that no person owes any explanation for their motivations, professional or personal. i think it is pretty unfair for people to put conditions on wether they choose to openly support raven. ie. "if she's faking cancer, fuck her" "if she's not faking, god speed for a full recovery" she doesn't owe anybody anything. saying all the "if, and, but, however, etc" is releasing a lot of negativity into the universe. |
| Anderson Belfort Member 110 Posts 12/07 | She does owe people something. She owes them the courtesy and respect of not lying to them about having stage 4 brain cancer. If that is indeed what she did. If she's genuine, I wish her the best, but those kind wishes are absolutely conditional that she's telling the truth. |
| Paralyzer Member 23 Posts 2/12 | her fans deserve something, an explanation. at least, if this turns out to be false. we fans loved her, and we still do. but we demand the truth Edited by - Paralyzer on 2/21/2012 6:39:52 PM |

Either way Raven's got issues--be it cancer or something she's dealing with mentally--why would a struggle with some kind of mental or emotional issue be any less deserving of our sympathy than cancer? IF--and this is a big if--someone bought one of her knicknacks or something to help her, then I can understand being a bit ticked off. But get over it; if it's true that she made up the entire story then the internal struggle her mind is playing with herself over this is pretty awful. It's a horrible highwire act to maintain and it just kills you in the end. Cut her some slack and stop making pronouncements. |
| phatbasey Senior Member 1390 Posts 1/05 | Bottom line she deceived people by asking them donate (not that this isn't one of the best reasons ever to donate money it is still fraud if you are lied too. I feel like Amy and Seth "Really people Really? If she really is sick I beg a million pardons, however " why don't we leave the poor girl alone that STOLE my money and left town because she needs a private life" will NOT fly!! |

If not, I would respectfully suggest moving on and focusing your energy on getting mad over stuff that happens directly to you. I'm sure the aggrieved parties appreciate your anger on their behalf, but I would definitely like to hear from them, firsthand, about their experiences and their feelings. |

| Dayman Member 12 Posts 2/12 | I just read an interview with her from like a week ago where she insisted she's doing the webcamming and escorting because she is the sole provider for her kids and she is worried they will end up in a cardboard box. But I have also read that her ex husband actually has custody of the kids and she only gets visitation. More lies? I guess it was also a lie when she claimed she was admitted to Harvard Law School on the Howard Stern radio show? And when she claims she builds computers on her own...maybe that's a lie too? My hunch is a lot of the people she lied to, took advantage of, hurt, etc., will be coming out of the woodwork now... |

| Dayman Member 12 Posts 2/12 | I don't believe these things. At least, I think some of them are clearly lies. Some of them have been proven false--by communication with Harvard, for example. Some can easily be verified--just ask her ex-husband if he has custody of the kids or not. Some just sound too whacky to be true--master ballerina? I'm just saying, there have been people murmuring about this for a while--if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, lies like a duck...it's probably a duck. Now, if she does have cancer--then that is very sad. But, like the boy who cried wolf, if you lie a lot then you have to expect that people will grow suspicious of you, especially when the facts just don't add up... |

wrong. Also, the whole "Palliative Medicine" not sure why people think all patients know medical terms, but I can assure you many patients get mixed up and say wrong things all the time unknowingly. I'm not saying she does or doesn't have it cause I don't know anything about her or read anything on this. But these two points of the article is extremely wrong and questionable. |
| Dayman Member 12 Posts 2/12 | But regardless, that's just one small piece of the puzzle. The biggest piece is the simple fact that she actually seems to be getting a lot better suspiciously quickly. She went from being at death's door in late decemeber (big tumors in her brain, she couldn't even walk, she was losing motor skills, she was too weak even to tweet so her boyfriend tweeted for her, she was just hoping to survive to Christmas), to suddenly camming and planning an escort trip in New York as early as one month later. Really? That's as miraculous a recovery as I have ever heard of. The history of lying that people are starting to point out, the weird way she spoke about her disease, the ex seeming to claim that she made it all up--that's all just supporting evidence, as it were. The fact that she is so quick to explain her camming and escorting by saying she has to support her kids when, it seems, she doesn't even have primary custody of them, is also very suspicious. It boils down to this: EITHER she is making one of the most miraculous recoveries in the history of cancer, OR she is lying about something. If it's the former, then she really should be sharing her secret cure with everyone--I'd love to know exactly what this alkaline water was that she was drinking. If it's the latter, then she's a very troubled and honestly despicable girl. |
| BYOB_Kenobi Senior Member “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” - Kierkegaard 2684 Posts 8/09 | I haven't read all the posts or even articles of her or about her. But I thought it was poposterous to use a ex's statements as evidence or supporting a theory. Although Stage IV cancer is extremely grave and bad, there are a significant number of patients who do survive 3 years, 5 years, >5 years after diagnosis. But the major variale is the brain cancer type. For example glioblastoma multiforme has very poor prognosis with typical short time. But 50-60% patients with Grade IV pineoblastoma survive at least 5 years. Saying someone has Stage IV brain cancer is extremely variable. Moreover, I worked on 2 new chemotherapeutic drugs a few years ago (one passed FDA approval), but one was for brain cancer. A lot of these chemotherapeutics, extend time/life and don't cause remission necessarily. A lot of the new anti-cancer drugs yield better results with lesser side effects. Maybe she did a trial? We don't know. Lastly, many patients (esp cancer patients) seek palliative medicine to improve quality of life and manage symptoms. So theoretically if she had effective palliative treatments, she would feel better and possibly more productive and feeling well. My whole argument is that we aren't privy to these facts, but from the limited things I've read, it doesn't sound improbable and even some parts are typical. For all we know she has a Grade IV pineoblastoma and underwent effective treatments that extended her life and undergone palliative care to improve her QoL and started to do some things while feeling a little better and tried to work. This is one feasible possibility. WE can't know though. But I don't know how you can prove she doesn't have it unless you have privileged info. |

| Dayman Member 12 Posts 2/12 | I think that's certainly right. But would you say it's not improbable for someone whose motor skills have been impaired by brain tumors (falling down, unable to walk, etc.), and who is too weak even to type on a computer, to feel so much better less than 2 months later that she's ready to travel across the country to escort? I honestly don't know of any palliative treatments that are able to reverse motor skill impairment like that. Do you? And that's not a rhetorical question, I'm genuinely curious. Raven's tweets in December reiterated several times that she was having serious trouble with motor skills--until finally she was so weak and so close to death that she was unable to tweet at all, and Dirt Junior tweeted for her. And again, I think people's suspicion here stems not from any one thing--sure it's *possible* that she just feels a lot better now, even though less than 2 months ago she was unable to walk or type. But it's the combination of that (I think improbable) recovery with all the other things--her seeming history of lying, her ex saying she lied, the fact that she's saying she has to cam/escort otherwise her kids are going to be living in a cardboard box, when in fact her ex husband retains primary custody (if I understand the situation correctly)... It's not just one thing--it's a LOT of suspicious things.
It seems that he kicked her out of his home, too--something like two weeks after she was supposedly too weak to stand, losing her motor skills, etc. What kind of twisted villain would he have to be to do that to someone dying of cancer? Again, the facts just don't add up. And at any rate, I certainly don't think it's "preposterous" to use Dirt Junior's remarks as evidence "supporting a theory." A court of law would certainly find such evidence to be perfectly admissible. Why can't we?

Dayman, you definitely have it all right when it comes to putting all the suspicions together. I agree that the facts don't match up. It's not like it's ONE suspicion it's many and that's why her story is more than likely a fraud. For people that say, what has she benefitted from this? Well, when someone is sick it is natural for people to reach out and help any way they can with gifts, gift cards, money, etc. She ABSOLUTELY received a lot of gifts from people who wanted to do something nice for someone who was on her very last days, as she made it seem. It's sad to know that if Raven faked cancer then many people who gave to her might be detoured from ever donating again to people that actually do have cancer or another legitimate illness in.. fear of it being another fraud. The only thing that is kinda in Raven's favor is the whole dirtjunior comment about her faking the cancer. He was standing in and tweeting for her for a little while. He would tweet that she is having seizures and many other complications. It's very unusual that he witnesses these complications first hand and then makes a statement that she faked the cancer the whole time. Did she fake seizures in front of him? Did she fake going to the hospital or doctor appointments? Did he not go to the doctor or hospital at all with her during the entire 7-8 months that they knew that she has this cancer?? If she denied her fiancee to go with her to her appointments then that would have been a red flag immediately in the beginning for dirtjunior. In my opinion, these are one of the three scenarios that could have happened- 1) She denied him to go (or maybe he just didn't want to go, but that would be odd) with her to her cancer treatments the whole time and he finally realized the appointments for cancer was a sham once he insists on taking her (that or she straight up told him she doesn't have cancer). 2.) She was faking it and he was along for the ride. 3) He is just stirring up a big fat lie Number 3 is less likely from what we've seen. Bottom line is- -Either she is a despicable for lying -He is a despicable for lying -or...They are both despicable for lying together |

Another thing that was suspicious for me--actually it was the first thing that made me wonder if she was just faking the whole thing--was that at the exact same time Raven's hair was supposedly falling out from her chemo, she was also going out and getting TATTOOS! I asked a friend of mine who went through chemo if he could possibly have gotten a tattoo while going through chemo, he said no way. When my father was dying of cancer, I can say without doubt that a tattoo would not have been an option... So yeah, it's a whole list of things. Maybe we could compile a more or less complete list here: * Her ex indicated she lied about the whole thing. * She was tweeting that she was at death's door in December, losing her motor skills and falling down, eventually becoming too week even to type at the computer, then a few weeks later she is camming and planning to escort in NYC. * Even though she tweeted endlessly about her cancer and treatments and condition, and even went on the most popular radio show in the world for the express purpose of telling everyone about it, suddenly in January she stopped talking about it entirely and even deleted tweets mentioning her cancer. * She has neglected to go into any detail about the miracle treatment--palliative or otherwise--that has given her such a remarkable recovery. Other than a few cryptic remarks about alkaline heavy water, and receiving "good news" from her doctor. * Her fiance at the time, who seemingly loved her very much, supposedly kicked her out of the house just a few weeks after she was too weak to stand or type from the huge tumors in her brain. * She was getting tattoos at around the same time she was getting chemo, her hair had already fallen out, etc. * When asked how she was camming and escorting, she made the excuse that if she didn't her kids would be living in a cardboard box. In reality, her ex husband has primary custody of the kids. The only person would would be living in a box would be Raven (and even that's not likely--government programs are there to help cancer patients). * The toy drive she ran--the toys went to HER, and then SHE brought them to the hospital. In my experience, most people who run charity drives like that have the proceeds/donations just go directly to the hospital. * I know of at least one instance where she filed a completely false police report against someone that she didn't like, and she ended up having to change her story. * She has a history of egregious lies (e.g., she did NOT apply, much less get accepted, to Harvard Law, I can promise you that; I can also say with a high degree of certainty that she is not a black belt as she has readily claimed--I have seen her trying to do martial arts in some of her fetish videos, there's no way she's had any real training). * She clearly did receive donations, gifts, attention, sympathy, proceeds from her t-shirt sales, etc. She insists it all went to charity--but of course there is no proof of that either. * When asked to supply any documentation from any doctor indicating she has cancer, she refused. * She has been going around and contacting a lot of porn bloggers and asking them not to talk about the story. * Her ex-husband, and the father of one of her kids, who is a fetish video producer has remained mysteriously silent; you'd think that if the mother of his children was being accused of heinous fraud, he'd come forward and let people know the cancer was real. For the sake of the children if nothing else. Regarding Dirt Junior's silence--and also the silence of Raven's ex-husband--it does seem very odd. My hunch is that they both feel stupid and/or partially responsible, since they should have known better, or maybe even DID know on some level, but didn't do anything about it. I really wish Dirt Junior would just come out and say what he knows--it would clear a lot of this up, I bet. |
