I was a member of AM , and knew that many of the ads were fake , but there were real ones interspersed , as I did meet two women over the course of about 3 years and had satisfying affairs with both . When you sign up to these sites, because so many are fakes, it is so hard to find someone. The ones that are legit are getting so bombarded with emails that they can't even keep up. Craigslist is a bit better because you are not paying, so if you have no success no harm. The problem is, it is overwhelmingly men. And the " female" ads are not only small in number, but mostly prostitutes or fake ads looking to mine your email address. Married men will use free regular dating sites like POF or OkCupid. Plenty of women to meet there, however, they have to put up they are single. Easy enough, but it brings a lot of negative energy when the girl meets you and you tell her you are married or you try to hide it and it ends up blowing up because she was looking for a single guy. At the end of the day, nothing beats striking up that connection over a few months with someone within one of your circles (work ,school, sports activity, things like that). The question really is, are you looking for sex, or a relationship with someone that involves emotions (a traditional affair). IF you just want to get fucked, hire an escort. Simple easy and you can walk away. If you see the same one over and over your strike up a friendship and it is just as intimate as any FWB (just adding on the little envelope of cash on the table). And she won't rat you out, make demands that you get divorced, or cause you to be worried about her messing with you. TO me, an ongoing arrangement with an escort is far superior to sneaking around with emotional affairs that put you and your life at risk of implosion. I am not condoning affairs, just making comments. I think the best way for a married couple is to share other people together and have threesomes or foursomes. I understand this is not practical as many reasons people seek affairs is because the other partner has closed the door emotionally or sexually. Only thing I must add in countries like the US is that escorts are a very expensive proposition for the average guy, especially seeing one say once a week.
