If you have never heard of the RealDoll, please check out the site: http://www.realdoll.com/intro.asp These dolls seem very realistic and accurate. They have been shown on Howard Stern show sometime ago, aparantly he fucked one and said it was some of the best sex he ever had. What do you think of these dolls? [Link] |

| jayo All-Star Member 2117 Posts 7/04 | A couple of major problems that never seem to make it in articles profiling realdolls (and other high-end silicone dolls) is a) how much they weigh and how difficult they are to move, and b) how relatively brittle they are. Broken fingers and toes are a common complaint. So are rips and tears, which can be patched but hurt the cosmetics (which is largely what you bought the doll for to begin with). And because the vaginal sleeve is fully part of the doll, not a removable insert, if it stretches or deforms or tears, it's tougher to fix. A doll with a removable insert can be pulled in replaced. Doesn't look realistic, but a lot better for actual use. As for the weight--those dolls typically weigh as much as a real woman they were modelled after, around 100lbs. You have to have a strong back, and even though they have a skeleton inside, you don't get any assistance so you're lugging a dead weight. Simply moving a doll from a chair to the bed and back again, or into a storage place in the closet, can be a chore. Plus, if you actually have sex with them, you have to clean them. That means you probably have to lug it into the bathroom shower, or set up a pan and douche and plastic sheets on the bed. Then there's storage. Realdolls have bolts on the back of their necks so you can hang them up in the closet. Because if you leave them sitting or laying on something, they'll develop flat spots on the pressure areas. There's another market tier for people who want something better than an inflatable but don't want the high maintenance and expense of a Real Doll, and you see some people trying to fill that niche. They're trying to make dolls that are lighter, with removable inserts, more durable bodies, etc. On the higher end stuff it tends to be torsos, since not having arms and legs and a head will considerably drop the weight. Of course then you lose the visuals--you're not screwing something that looks like a beautiful woman, you're screwing a lump of silicone that looks like a body part. That takes a mental adjustment that some people can't make. Plus if you're willing to do that, you can save yourself a lot of money and just buy a basic plastic pussy and spend the savings on porn. You want something weird--look into Teddy Babes. They're a woman-ish plushy doll (i.e. fabric skin and stuffing inside). They're relatively small and light so you don't need to be a body building to move them. But they have a cartoon woman look, like Wilma Flintstone, rather than realism. I thought the guy was nuts when he announced it, but he seems to be very successful. I've forgotten the point I was trying to make when I started this reply... |

| soragesum Member 78 Posts 3/10 | I think this question is only relavant because of the high cost of the dolls. Hell, if a realdoll only cost $300 to $400, half the guys out there would own one, at least at some point in their life. And also, I believe a lot of the stigma around doll ownership is because of the high cost. I can't count the number of times I've read "What kind of sick pervert (loser, creep, etc) would spend $6K on a doll?" When it comes to potential doll owners, there seems to be two types. The ones that they KNOW they want once, it isn't even a question, and those that think they want one but the high cost is holding them back. I've seen plenty of guys who are on the fence, end up buying a doll, only to immediatly have buyers remourse as soon as they get her and immediatly sell her, and others who curse themselves for not buying her sooner. I've seen guys who really thought they wanted one end up both ways also. I've not been able to determine any criteria to tell if a guy is in one camp or ther other. My best guess, is that if a guy is interested in a doll and has a high sex drive (I mean even high by guy standards), is creative and imaginative, and fantasizes a lot.. there is a better chance that he might be in the camp that curses himself for not buying a doll sooner. Even more so if a guy is the type who likes his women nice and submissive. Meaning that if you think the sexiest thing a woman can wear is rope.. you really might like a doll. You eventually have to untie a woman... you don't a doll.. ;) I was in the camp that I knew from the first moment I learned about realdolls that I simply HAD to have one. A recent question posted on a doll related forum asked wither doll owners have more sex after receiving their doll. I said "Hell Yea!". By orders of magnitude! Not that there has been a ton, but in all relationships I've been in, after the intial "fuck like rabbits" phase of the relationship wears off (for her, it never wears off for me), my expereince has been that the average quantity of sex would be around 2-3 times a month (for a woman with low sex drive) to 4-5 times a week (for a woman with higher sex drive). This seems to be consistant with what I find most guys talk about in the women they have been with. Of course there are women out there that do crave sex more than 4-5 times a week, but, IMO, they are an exceptionally small percentage of the female population. So even when I was in a relationship with a woman who wanted sex 4-5 times a week.. I would still masturbate an additional 1-2 times a day, because she simply couldn't keep up (or didn't want to). Once I got my doll.. I went from having sex 4-5 times a week (in the most sexual relationship I've been in) to having sex 3-4 times a day. Actually it can range anywhere from once a day to about 12 times a day. Both those extremes happen infrequently ;), during the week it might be 3 times a day, and on the weekend more like 5-6 times a day. But anyway you slice it.. that's over a five fold increase!!! >:) So for me.. it's never been a question of IF.. it was always a question of when. u nudd tiy! |

Maybe that's just me. I don't have a big budget and when I spend $ on something that doesn't pan out, I think of all the things I could have purchased instead; and now I have to wait and save up again. As for the watermelon comment (different poster): there's an issue of Playboy once where there was a photo of a watermelon, standing upright, wearing a bra and a garter belt, and they'd chopped an inverted triangle near the bottom of it where the crotch would be. Funny as hell photo. I looked for it to scan it but no dice. |

Then there are those who find a doll intriguing, and it's like a lighting a small fire that slowly grows bigger and brighter. Those owners may become like the ones above, or they may suffer from buyers remorse. It's hard to tell how many fall into that second catagory, because of the social stigma of owning a doll (ie.. What kind of loser would spend that much money on a doll? Well ladies, at least these guys are out of the gene pool!), and tons of other crap like that, most doll owners are what I call phantom doll fuckers. Meaning they own a doll, but they never ever post anything about it, or admit it anywhere, online or off. You only ever know of any of them if they decide to ever sell their doll. I would guess that for every doll owner who activily posts about it, there is a 100 guys who never say a word. And those numbers are growing. There used to be one company that produced high end dolls, now there are about 6 or 7, and double that if you count the Japanese companies. But the reason so many doll owners are phantom fuckers is because they have nothing to gain and everything to loose by admitting such. But anyway... Back to your question... If you sweat so much over a $60 purchase... A high end doll is most probably not for you. Y nudd tiy! |

It was a French brand, high quality and relatively expensive, but not as expensive as those RealDolls of course. I had to mend her vagina with rubber patches from a bike tyre repair kit because I had used agressive non compatible lube (probably vaseline).... I guess quality doesn't sell that much anymore because this French manufacturer went bankrupt. |
