Maybe I am talking more about edgy hip wittiness or even a little jaded in the ones I've seen interviewed interviews. But I think of: Jenni Lee Monique Alexander Addison Rose MacKenzie Wilson Ginger Lee (ever since I've read her here)
Belladonna Chloe Nina Hartley Katja Kassin Melissa Lauren Annette Schwarz IMO, the jury is out on Sasha Grey. She did not do well in that interview with Tyra Banks.
I sorta agree with Chloe, although I am also thinking about a scene in Gang Bang Girl 17 where she is just catatonic doped out of her mind or something. That reminds me, similar girl, I remember some early interviews with Sabrina Johnson where she looked pretty cool.
Ginger Lee comes across as very bright both in interviews and on the board. Bobbi Starr and Avy Scott do too. Madeline Marie is in med school which suggests that she was a very good student.

To date Marilyn Manson is not smart as well as to trim your bush with a swastika design. Smart? No.

Watch it again, she did very well considering the entire show was out to get her including the oblivious host.
Off the top of my head: Shy Love Katja Kassin (Great in at least two languages. I know many Europeans are but let's give credit when it's due). Rachel Starr has always seemed to have something going on behind the eyes. Jenna Haze Belladonna definitely!!! Shyla Stylez -- I can't believe I'm saying this because she plays the blonde bimbo type, but I can't ever recall hearing her stutter, say something outlandish, or appear completely vacant. I actually think she might have a good head on those boobs -- I mean shoulders. Same goes for Flower Tucci Bobbi Starr Savanna Samson Edited by - bsavage on 3/30/2010 12:00:35 AM

Lots and lots of smart women in the adult biz besides Sasha Grey who gets lots of publicity & was in a film last year. Dana Vespoli is very smart, she is a graduate of Mills College in something like Literary Criticism & was on their rowing team. Olivia O'Lovely is back in school earning a psych degree. Yumi Lai who was only in a few films was a student in NoCal, I believe UC Berkeley. Annabel Chong was a graduate student at USC and no works in IT. She's extremely smart, you can see this in the documentary done on her, I believe it is called "Sex" and was done by a British fellow with the last name GOUGH. Asia Carrera is smart even w/o a degree. I second the Mika Tan citation, she has a degree from SDSU. Nina Hartley is like the Dean of Smart in porn!!! Theresa Darklady Reed is very intelligent, went to Portland State University and guest lectures from time to time.
I guess my point here was not a recitation of college degrees. A fool sent to school is an educated fool. I meant women who just seemed sort of clever....like the sharpest one in the room. Jenni Lee spurred the thought with me....
^ +1 Veronica and Samantha. I also vote Annie Sprinkle, Nina Hartley, Mason (not an on-camera star, I know, but she is mega intelligent), Georgina Spelvin (in a theater darling sort of way), Gloria Leonard, and Sasha Grey. Oh, and I watched Fluid: Women Redefining Sexuality, and Dylan Ryan came off as particularly smart amongst a bunch of super smart young women.

i guess my point is that a fool rarely finishes college, it takes commitment, drive and intelligence, not brilliance, but intelligence. street smarts or wit sense are both a part of that and most if not all of the ladies i mentioned might be the smartest in the room at any given time. i'm not one to devalue someone's life experience, but i don't devalue someone's hard earned degrees either.
Typically I get crap because I have a BA in Art, but what most people don't realize is that an art degree these days includes in its curricula high level business, history and philosophy classes as well. When I first got into modeling last year, the thing I heard all the time from photographers who would approach me was "I like to shoot in the style of Rembrandt". They had no idea that I was educated, let alone that what they were trying to say that they wanted to shoot in a Caravaggist style using a lot of chiaroscuro. Most of these guys were just amateurs trying to convince girls that it was okay to take their clothes off because the pics they would be taking would be "artistic". When I actually asked one of them about what part of Rembrandt's body of work they were going for, he got flustered at first, and then pissed about the art history lesson I gave him about Rembrandt's intaglio prints and how he used a team of apprentices for a lot of his paintings later in life. Smart is sexy, but faux-smart is just irritating.
You Make an awesome point Clayra, one I wish I could get away with sharing myself as a photographer, but the funny thing is so many models (The ones i shoot with anyway, who wouldn't shoot with me if I ever so much as mentioned the term "erotic", lol) won't do nudity unless it was "artistic" when I always thought it was rather obvious that I wanted to shoot naked women because it turned me on, so i guess some of those rediculous Rembrandt references could come from that mentality, or they just have their heads up their wazoo, either way, getting women to take their clothes off for your camera has to alway have some incentive, heaven forbid anybody just be real about it, lol.
It all depends. There was a shoot I did for theredchair.net where we talked for over an hour before the shoot about the photogs use of light and his Baroque aesthetics. The difference was he actually had an art background, so we spoke the same language, so to speak. One guy I talked to tried to lump Rembrandt in with Vermeer, and if you know your history, that's like lumping Ludacris in with mc chris. Sure, they work in the same medium, but there's a huge difference... Anyway, the best incentive, I've found, is and always will be money :)
I've always heard it "Va Rain" or "Van Rain", and sometimes "Van Reen", but I don't speak Dutch, so I'm just as prone to screw it up as anyone I guess. The worst name to try and pronounce is Inges though...
my mom is really smart. she lives alone in a house with four bedrooms. she works part-time at the supermarket. i don't know how she can afford this. i haven't figured it out yet.

ClayraBeau, bless you, my point exactly! I hope you have a successful career and i have no doubt you will get this adult thing to work for you as opposed to the other way around! I agree faux=smart is annoying!

Stud Rob Asia Carrera is a member of Mensa! She was in either Columbia or some similar school and dropped out to get in the biz, but she plays piano etc.
This has got to be one of most hilarious threads ever.
I could start to list & comment on each choice here on this thread but when I read the Belladonna one.... I love the guy that put - "definitely" with three exclamations marks. My chest actually hurts ... I swear... I can't even... you guys... I'm out.
Hey! My mom was done right (pun?) by White Ghetto.

Lots if good choices have all ready been made. Here is a few that don't seem to appear on anyone's list/ Jessica Drake Stormy Daniels Kayden Kross And Recently retired Penny Flame.
I think it's great that there are intelligent, strong and confident women in porn. Nina Hartley is the first one that comes to mind as I've read some of her articles on Counterpunch and she isn't afraid to identify herself as a feminist or socialist. (Both sets of ideas suffer from a lot of negative propaganda from the corporate media in the US.) I'd agree with pretty much all of the women mentioned above. I just thought I'd also mention Jayden James. I recently came across her blog and she writes very well.
