Remaking the porn classics with current day directors & stars is very "dicey" at best. The main benefit is that porn companies will be producing more features, and that would be good news for those of us who like a story with our sex. But, there are very few directors who can handle telling a story and at the same time produce hot sex scenes.

Vivid director Paul Thomas is the person most often mentioned as being able to handle both story and sex, but IMO he's been in a major slump since the early 1990s. Of late he hasn't been able to tell a coherent story, whether shooting an "original" feature like "Emperor" (that is a rip-off of Fellini's "8 1/2") or a remake of "The Devil and Miss Jones" or "Debbie Does Dallas." Plus Thomas hasn't figured out how to choreograph hot-but-not-extreme sex scenes for today's features/couples audience. A major drawback. He usually just throws his young girls into scenes with bruts (Rocco, Ben English, Marco Banderas) and let them fend for themselves.

Which brings us to casting. Since porn directors know little if anything about acting, the performers have to bring that skill with them. And not too many have it. Plus porn directors are terrible in casting couples in scenes that are believable or "look good" together. In today's porn biz most of the girls look like college students, but the guys look like bikers or bare-knuckle brawlers. And those are not your typical real life hook-ups.

So, we are given porn pairings like Monique Alexander with Tommy Gunn or Rocco or Marco, Tawny Roberts with Ben English or Rocco, Teagan with ChristianXXX or Tommy Gunn or John Strong or Dillion Day and Lexie Marie with Tommy Gunn or Rocco. And while I understand that many male porn viewers want the male performers to look like the graphic-comic book cast of "300 Spartans" it's just not reality. In the 1970s and 80s, when features were king, there were guys like (a young) Tommy Byron, Ian Daniels, Alex Sanders, TT Boy, Mickey Ray, Marc Wallice and Nick East. Guys who could have been the male college students that would be believable fuck partners for the porn girls.

So, until a company and director works thru these problems the feature adult video (remake or original) will not make a comeback.

I also think that this 'problem' will not be solved unless individuals stop buying the post 1990 stuff, which should force the producers and directors into taking your advice in an attempt to make money.

I don't see that happening, for reasons too numerous to mention, but I'm sure most could come up with a list of at least 10.

So, one is left with the 'oldies but goodies'

I'd be (and am) happy with re-releases of these Classics. Too bad there are a number of reasons why they can't be digitally 're-mastered' to improve their appearance (focus, color separation, etc.).

The problem, IMO, would be finding a script that is clever, sets up the erotic couplings in beautiful locales (beaches, mountains, the desert), and speaks a 2007 partying lifestyle. And a director who has a good visual eye for photographing erotic sex (this eliminates Paul Thomas), as well as the ability to tell a story and get acting above the wink-wink-I'm-doing-a-high-school-play level of most porn.

The Good News is Vivid already owns the title to the series, and needs to find a vehicle to push Monique (who is probably their top performer) to the next level of porn stardom.
