I haven't really found a studio that does all these things. Marc Dorcel has the settings and amazingly attractive women, but the action is really boring and the scenes are way too short. And most gonzo studios don't spend on good looking dresses and lingerie and often have talent looking like runaway teens, or do scenes which are too rough for my gonzo tastes (see Legalporno, I don't like seeing women mistreated and circus acts like DAP are not hot for me).

Seeing as Marc Dorcel is no longer the Marc Dorcel of the past then you have your answer. If you have been a fan of Marc Dorcel produced porn for a long time or have at least seen is older movies then you know he used to produce the type of porn. Private was another studio that produced expensive hardcore porn but they stopped doing that many many years ago because they couldn't afford to do that and stay alive. Private is now basically just a name which has nothing to do with it's past greatness.
The best I can suggest is that if you haven't seen or own many of the past movies produced by Dorcel and/or Private then you start looking for them and enjoy them because their like will not return for a long time ...if ever.
You perfectly described how I currently feel about porn. I used to love Private in the late 90ies and early 2000s. They had an era where they shot gonzo porn in expensive settings with great looking women and without the nastiness of today's gonzo porn which is getting more extreme with every year. Somewhere between 2005-2010 Private started to slowly fall apart, which is a shame really.
All the actresses from the 1999-2004 era are retired by now, so there is no new material. And many of the newcomers don't really interest me. It's tricky to describe, but the girls who worked for Private always looked like young adults to me and that was hot. While so many of the new faces look like "old teens" somehow and they are really not my thing.
I really miss the more glamorous side of porn, with megastars who would be around for a decade. A lot of the new faces look like 18 yr old runaways from foster homes who immediately do a DAP as their first scene and think that's normal. And then they are burned out after a few movies.
I mean there is still current stuff I enjoy: I like Sofia Marie, Claire Castel or India Summer, once in a while there's fresh talent that reminds me of the likes of Jessica Drake or Ashley Long. But these are very rare nowadays.
You two pretty much summarized how I feel, if I see old Private DVDs at our local second hand store, I buy them as I enjoy a lot of their stars back in the 2000s, i.e. Demia Moore, Blondie, Suzie Diamond, Boroka Bolls, Tania Rusoff et. al. Great locations, great actions but not overly rough and definitely not degrading. I still consider Private's Pyramid Trilogy and Cape Town series to be some of the best in my collections, too bad they are on DVDs so I don't watch them that often anymore. Most new gonzo stuff are too rough for my taste. I still enjoy Dorcel but scenes tend to be somewhat standard, too dark (not sure why he like dark lightings), too many condoms; Dorcel's group sex scenes are just outright confusing at times, going from pair to pair in 5 seconds intervals. But once in a while, a girl like Lola Reve comes along and I went out to get all of her Dorcel movies.
I will certainly be a fan if a studio revive the old Private vibe. I assume it is all about the money, too expensive to film in exotic locations.

Have you ever tried to watch Strangelove's and The Voyeur's movies? They're plenty of lingerie, black stockings and start fully dressed normally; there are quite well done dps as well. Like Jamison2k4, and others I miss the older French videos with much more glamorous settings. I wish I had bought more, but I was more cautious with my funds back then. I did just notice some DVDs from Rebecca Lord Productions. I've only just checked the previews, but I plan on buying a few soon. I noticed there is some attempt to artfully frame the shots. Some might not appreciate the camera being somewhat back to incorporate more of the environment in the framing. I just discovered their stuff. These seem to be their older titles 2015-ish. There are four more titles under Rebecca Lord Prod. on Adultempire.com., but they seem to be afflicted with the curse of cost cutting like other companies.
You can also check some old 2000s movies of Andrea Nobili, especially Una vita in vendita (2002), Una notte proibita (2002), Fashion (2003), Caldi ricordi a Bologna (2003) and Life (2004). They're full of lingerie, good locations, plot and very well shot.
Great topic and I have said the same thing for years. The old studios like ATV, Daring, Pink'o did some great scenes where you get the glamour with a DP and facial. Private was the best in the day but their day is gone.
