I just got a copy of Ben dover's ALLEY CATS from EroDVD and the disc is faulty. Extremely bad. My main dvd player won't even recognise that there is a dvd in the drive and my other player plays bits and pieces of the disc but not well. it's unfortunate as I've been looking for this one for a while.


I contacted Aline at Ero and got a quick reply, in that they couldn't do anything about it as they had sold out of the title -- it was in the 50% off sale, it was the first time this title had been released on disc i.e. 2003 is the date stamped on the back of the cover, etc., -- and would issue me with a store credit even though the obvious problem came from the producers of the dvd Route XX who seem to be releasing many of the older Ben titles, while VCA is releasing the new stuff being produced.


Hats off to Aline for this, but I'm wondering if I should contact Route XX themselves (info@routexx.com) over this and press them on the faulty disc situation. Does anyone think I would be wasting my time or not???.......


Opinions, anyone please???

It's really up to you, Cyke. I imagine the standard reply will be to contact your point of sale for a replacement/etc but you never know what they might say.

I agree with Scipio. You may just get a stock response, but from my view, it's probably worth contacting them, as Private once helped me out with a faulty disc though in slightly different circumstances. It's really your choice.

I actually had a similar problem with Rocco's Initiations 4 - the disc played in bits and then not at all. I got one of those cheap CD cleaning kits and cleaned the disc - now it plays OK. I don't know if you've tried this, but it could be worth a go - though I would leave the disc in its original state till you've heard what the makers will do for you.

No harm in contacting the distributors. You have nothing to lose anyway and the worse they can say is no.

Did you try playing it in a DVD-ROM? I have found most of the DVD's that give my standalone problems play fine on my DVD-ROM.

I have a Private DVD that completely refuses to be read on my standalone and I have only been able to watch it on my PC.

I've also had problems with Ben Dover disks released by Route XX (for example only possible to FF at x2 speed, disk freezing in the player, jumping back to the start-up copyright crap when trying to chapter-hop etc.)
